Super important feature since I can't put the whole game in one scene without gigabrain code turning things off and on as needed. It also lets me teleport the player within a scene which is nice
It's a small thing, but I added this system so that other game objects can pull the attention of NPCs nearby so that it seems like they are reacting to what the player or environment does. I really need to look into drawing more sprites, all my game characters have so little in terms of expression. It's a bit sad...
New Frame Plus (on Youtube) has a series called The Animation of Final Fantasy. It is a really good look at the importance of animation and its impact on storytelling. I plan to use whatever I can from the series to guide how I animate and express my game visually. I don't know if on my own I'll even scratch the multitude of means by which Square Enix did the impossible, but I like to dream.
Time to begin a shit ton of reposting. The title is the date of the original post. If you don't want to wait for it to appear here you can try and find my Twitter. No, I will not link it for you lazy bum. I will link discord tho
Made this invisible trigger to move the camera around. All it does is tell my camera to focus on a new position and has settings to create a new focus point between the player and a defined position around the trigger. The transition could use some work tho haha.
The whole point is to provide context on what important modifiers might have applied to the damage. I've overhauled the battle system a bit since so they don't look like this anymore but yea progress...
I spend a lotta time tweaking designs instead of coding, which I feel guilty for... probably because my project's viability suffers a bit each time because I want it to look perfect before the first implementation... maybe ill spend a month doing quick and dirty sprints where I implement features in a week... maybe
Excelsior, a puzzle adventure game for the Game Boy Color is now live on Kickstarter. There is a demo available on itch.io - please help us fund the project so we can develop it into a full game! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zenadu/excelsior-a-puzzle-exploration-game-for-the-gameboy-color
This took a lot of time to make and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna scrap it. It's pretty cool tho, it's entirely 2D (part of why it took so long to make...)
Still incomplete but now I can look at the items I have without using the debug console.
The coolest thing this menu has is keybinding. I need to tweak it a bit so that the user has to specify that they want to apply changes rather than instantly updating the game settings
A blog for a game about a rather peculiar exam. Made in Godot Engine!
