i wish so badly that we had gotten to see foreman and amber really really interact cause they're very like eachother in terms of narrative function and character. both of them ARE house, one step removed - foreman is black and amber is a woman, and neither of them can afford to be as messy and reckless as house can afford to be, because they know that they won't be seen as good enough even if they're right all the time. foreman is running from his personal life and feels like an outsider in every situation. amber understands her place and knows that if nobody likes her, she has to be right, to make up for it. both of them have the guts and the brains to be house, but they are just too far removed from the qualities about house that allow him to get to where he is in the world with very few barriers. they're both such fascinating examinations of what you can get away with when you're not at a disadvantage from the beginning

Wilson breaks his leg or is otherwise injured in a way that means he temporarily needs crutches or a cane, and House spends the entire time challenging Wilson to running races

At first, House always wins because Wilson isn't used to having mobility aids, which House is incredibly smug and annoying about (it also means he can successfully run away from Wilson whenever he tries to have an earnest conversation about feelings). But then Wilson gets more comfortable moving around and it becomes an equal playing field. They are both massively competitive about it

It only stops when they get to work at the same time and House challenges him to a race from the hospital entrance to the elevators. Right as they start, House turns to sweep Wilson's crutches out from under him to trip him up. Meanwhile, Wilson was planning the exact same thing, so when House lunges at him, Wilson is lunging too and they end up smacking each other with their mobility aids and sending each other crashing to the floor in a heap, further fucking up both their legs (and potentially injuring themselves in fun new ways) in full view of Cuddy, who saw it all unfold from her office

isn’t he supposed to be the head of oncology? babygirl, why aren’t you, idk, stationed in the oncology department? why do you just happen to have an office adjoined to your boybestfriend’s? why do your two offices have a connected balcony? why are you the only people in the whole hospital with a setup like that?? who put you guys together? cuddy? that’s like a teacher sitting students with crushes on each other at the same table. why does she let you stay there when she’s seen the situations it produces? does she ship it too? we know she does enjoy the insanity, to an extent. does the entire hospital have a betting pool on when house and wilson will finally get their shit together? probably.

these two dumbasses are so the main characters, its blatantly obvious that the entire world is built around them. i love it.

You won't get media with messier, more nuanced, more realistic queer characters if you keep flying off the handle the second a fictional character has sex, does drugs, swears too much, or acts vaguely like an asshole.

You won't get more diverse queer media with wider stories if you can't handle it when queer artists make art that is raunchy, crude, edgy, and gross.

You won't get more diverse queer media if you shut everything down the second it does something you, personally, get squicked out by.

You will never get more diverse queer media if you contribute to the way queer media is picked apart, raked over the coals, and held to unreasonably high standards.

think the great thing about house md is that the characters really are just like that, not even exaggerated. house does not shut up about sleeping with wilson even though he claims they’re just bros, foreman complains about medical malpractice while stealing bone marrow and switching thirteens’s placebo, cameron marries a dying man and then sleeps with chase after she’s been on meth. then they sleep together again because they’re bored of watching their patients sleep patterns. chase is a blonde australian catholic, he’s one of the best surgeons in the hospital, he also kills a dictator. wilson is just some guy who’s been arrested before. he loves monster trucks, he’s had three failed marriages, he’ll give out his organs and blood at any given moment. something so wrong with them all but i love them very much.

yeah biggest warning i can give is do NOT watch house if you’re neurodivergent. you will not be able to escape its claws. your age or profession or interests do NOT matter. it will take over your life and soon you’ll be making a separate blog just for house and that’s just the start…
