The banter between the sharks is 🤍
And all these jokes aside, the sharks are getting deals at great valuations! They'll surely make a lot of money. Some of these startups might raise follow-on rounds from prominent VCs and become household names in coming years.
hi everyone!
my name is yeliza, i’m ukrainian, living in kyiv. funny story but currently we have a 150k+ army of russians all over the ukrainian borders, as well as an ongoing shelling from uncontrolled territories that has been averaging more than 1000 strikes daily. more fun facts - we are currently in a state of emergency, and it’s of high probability that russians will start a major invasion pretty damn soon. kyiv will be one of the first to be hit :)
i wanted to use this as an opportunity to spread the information about the whole situation, but also ask you to help me disperse it further: you can get the main points about the russo-ukrainian war and current escalation here. also PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO OUR ARMY - the link is here. any amount would be helpful - even some of your pocket money. we are in the dire need for the global support, truly.
much love and appreciation for your help!
if you have any question regarding the situation, i’ll be glad to answer as long as i’ll be able to! stay safe!
Hi, guys!
As you may know, I am Ukrainian. I live in Kyiv. I have lived here since I was born and I love my country with my whole heart.
I see a lot of misinformation under the tag "Ukraine". Most of it comes from American people, who try to explain the conflict in their own words. They can't. It's impossible to explain if you haven't lived here. There are too many influences on this conflict. You keep looking from an american perspective, which is not crucial in understanding the conflict.
For example, have you ever had you language forbidden? Like straight up forbidden by the law? It happened to Ukrainian language a lot of times thought our history. And who did it? The Russian Empire. And it's not the end of it. The genocides, the assimilation, the deportation. Have you even researched Ukrainian history?
You do not uplift Ukrainian voices enough. And you should if you care about what's happening. If you don’t do it, you're just doing a performance of your support and activism.
Lucky for you, I am a Ukrainian person! And I am DYING TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. I scored 191/200 points on my graduation exam in history, so you can suppose I know something about Ukrainian history.
If you stand for Ukraine, uplift Ukrainian voices. Educate yourself. Learn Ukrainian history. Ask Ukrainian people
nothing is as tender as annotating your favourite books. it’s like leaving a piece of your heart on the pages for somebody else to find.

Cove harbour
ID: Portrait orientation watercolour painting of an old harbour. The focus is two brick cottages along a sloping path in the middle. A crow sits on one of the chimneys. There are old cement stairs going down to the water on the left, and a white ladder leaning against the bank of the harbour in the centre, with a white and blue wooden docked in front. End ID

The first time I saw her, I would say she was a fragment of the moon, an arched and silent smile… “full of enchantment, alchemy and tenderness”. Art Jeremy Sams.
Madhubani Art (or Mithila painting) is a folk art form originating in the Mithila region of India and Nepal. It was named after Madhubani District of Bihar, India which is where it is originated. It is characterised by its eye-catching geometrical patterns. Madhubani painting was created by the women of various communities in the Mithila region of the Indian subcontinent. The paintings were traditionally done on freshly plastered mud walls and floors of huts, but now they are also done on cloth, handmade paper and canvas. Madhubani paints are made from the paste of powdered rice and applied with with various tools, such as fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks. The paintings mostly depict people and their association with nature and scenes and deities from the ancient epics. Natural objects like the sun, the moon, and religious plants like tulsi are also widely painted, along with scenes from the royal court and social events like weddings. In this paintings generally, no space is left empty; the gaps are filled by paintings of flowers, animals, birds, and geometric designs. It is still practiced and kept alive in institutions spread across the Mithila region.

It seems like a lot of non Indians are unaware of this but hey INDIA DOES NOT HAVE A NATIONAL LANGUAGE, We have 22 OFFICIAL LANGUAGES and 40 other yet to be recognized regional languages.
Next time dont ask an Indian if they can speak something in Indian language because sweety we have 22, and most of us can speak like 5 of them (I can and that is excluding English, because I grew up around people from multiple states, yes I'm flexing)
You don't have to know names of all of those languages (because that is a ridiculous expectation to have) but here are a few tips:
1) Hindi is not our national language
2) Each language is distinct and doesn't overlap the other apart from two or three words in some languages
3) Languages differ statewise, so maybe ask them which state they belong to and then what language they speak.
Also we have overlapping languages with our neighbors
Punjabi/Sindhi/Urdu - Pakistan (Urdu and Hindi is understood by people of both nations)
Tamil - Sri Lanka
Bengali - Bangladesh
Devanagri script is used by Nepal and India and hence people of Nepal are able to read and somewhat understand Hindi as well over and above their own language.
You travel from North to South in India and the people may not understand each other just one state apart or there are linguistic barriers between neighboring states, and we have acknowledged that difference and frankly I see it at as a strength.
You can make fun of our accent all you want but know this, we speak one language more than you by the time we are 5 and can win against you in a debate in four languages including yours by the time we are 7.
I'm tired of the ignorance, like I said you don't need to know the names of all languages but please know that not every Indian can speak the language that you may have found to be Indian (which is mostly Hindi).
Ask us and we will happily tell you just because you showed us that courtesy.
P. S. I know there are like 1600 languages and dialects in India but I used the constitution for reference.
Additions and corrections to the post are welcome by other Desis (south Asians).

If you want to really enjoy life... then play with death.
- from Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978)
“What I am is a survivor. I survived getting taunted by the N-word when I was in grade school. I survived the sexual abuse by my uncle when I was eleven. I survived losing my first love Eve, because I was scared to be gay. Then the death of my son in a car accident, the murder of my husband, then alcoholism, depression, grief, and every death leading up to this trial. But today, you decide. Am I a bad person? Well the mask is off, so I’m gonna say yes. But am I the criminal mastermind who pulled off a series of violent murders? Hell no. Who I am is a 53 year old woman from Memphis, Tennessee, named Anna Mae Harkness.”
She's one hell of a boss lady!
Prayers are for the weak. I’ll stick to beating your ass in court.
