He wanted to help from the beginning and that’s why he ran to help her, he didn’t know that Sheila was working with the Joker, all he saw was a person in danger.

Jason was good, and he was a good kid. He was happy, he proclaimed “Robin gives me magic” he loved school, and he loves helping crime alley and it’s people.

Jason’s recklessness didn’t get him killed, his kindness did. His kindness was abused and that got him killed. And that’s why his shift to Red Hood is even sadder because there’s such a huge shift from the boy he was due to the pain he went through. And erasing that, well you’re erasing a huge part of Jason Todd himself.
