Of course I first thought that it was just Alphonse. But then I looked closely. He’s there alright.
(Clue that probably would make it a lot more obvious: What might Alphonse be looking at?)

here's my unasked-for analysis on why your tape enthusiasm post is getting so many responses about bypassing using tape. This is not meant to be an indictment of your writing style, I would hate to dampen that, it's mainly just an explanation of how things have happened this way.
summary: Your enthusiasm for the tape's capabilities was interpreted as something else by certain audiences, who were mainly focused on what they interpreted the post's goals were.
your enthusiasm for some of the capabilities of tape (being able record into digital audio files, pirating things), was interpreted into a goal-oriented thing. people started focusing on the goal of obtaining a digital audio file of pirated audio, and wanted to point out methods they found more efficient of obtaining that goal. This is how they also came to interpret tape as the "middleman", because instead of the endgoal being enjoying using and having the tape, they thought the endgoal was pirating audio into personal digital files. They saw the post as an educational post for those goals and felt the need to point out other methods, instead of a post about showing enthusiasm and educating about the capabilities of tape.
Your enthusiasm with how cool tape is (" here’s the fucking magic. ", "you’re doing gangbusters. You’re cooking with gas. You’re thinking with portals. You’ve won the internet"), reached a mismatch with audiences who did not think tape was that cool, because other methods could achieve the goals of pirating and obtaining a digital file. They did not understand why you were so excited by a form they considered inferior or unwieldy, and interpreted it as thinking maybe you were so excited about tape because it was the only method of achieving directly recorded digital files of pirated audio that you knew of, thinking you were excited about achieving the goals instead of the method, despite that not being the case. By not mentioning Audacity's innate speaker-recording ability, this reinforced their mistaken belief.
soz for writing this unasked-for analysis, i need 2 sleep right now, but i can't sleep until i get stuff out of my head, and 4 some reason, this was sticking in my head.

I think many people disliked Near (and Mello), not because they were bad, they just arrived at the wrong time (right after L's death)! Poor Near (and Mello).
//As my followers are well aware, I have a great many headcanons about Death Note I feel very strongly about. Yet of all my headcanons, there is only one which I might literally fight someone on—namely that (like me) this badass cutie right here…
…is undeniably, indisputably, irrefutably autistic.
