Can we talk about how important Terry is? especially for trans people? He makes me very happy! Thanks to TDP! Also to Ben for bringing it to life through his voice y tambiΓ©n a Mauro en la versiΓ³n en latina. Es importante que personas trans tengamos voz y presencia!
okay i need everybodys opinions on all of these foods: pineapple pizza, avocado, hummus, candy corn, nutella, and dark chocolate
Never thought of using that option tbh. Sure, realizing that a great fic hasnt been updated for a long time and it has most likely been abandoned can be heartbreaking but I can still appreciate the chapters that are there. Limiting yourself to reading only completed works deprives you of seeing so many interesting scenes and concepts for stories etc.
And yeah definitely, the authors arent paid to write fanfics, the best motivators they have are the love for the og characters and the energy they get from the rest of the fandom. They deserve to get a nice word for all the emotions their work is bringing about - doesnt have to be super long.
Btw sth one misses out on when reading only completed works is waiting for the next update and it can be fun too - wondering what happens next, re-reading to appreciate the details more, being super happy when it updates, getting excited whenever there is a snippet on the author's social media etc.
I feel like this is an unpopular opinion, but more people should read incomplete/unfinished/in-progress fanfics.
I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.
The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.
Anyways, support your favorite fanfic writers by engaging with their WIPs.
I finally watched su this summer and I honestly cant take people saying it is bad seriously bc imo its flaws are heavily overpowered by its advantages. And I can acknowledge the former -bc no show is perfect- but not when it is all that people see. It's pointless to discuss anything it in that case.
There is a great atmosphere in this show. It has awesome lore, likable and well-written characters and relationships, and it speaks about important topics in an incredible way.
Rebecca Sugar and the crew did an amazing job creating a story that is important to so many people and is an essential part of cartoon history. One might not like the show and they have a right to it, but that can't be denied.
I don't care if people enjoy Steven Universe.
I care that Steven Universe was subject to aggressively homophobic censorship, which is a genuine fucking social justice issue, and nobody cares because as long as something is "cringey" it's free-game to be homophobic toward, apparently.
There existed a children's television show that got cancelled over its inclusion of a lesbian wedding, and instead of being remembered as a victim of homophobic censorship, or as a historical milestone that allowed the production of other queer shows like She-Ra and The Owl House, it gets remembered as nothing but a bad discourse generating fandom.
And that really fucking chaps my ass as someone who studies queer media.
banish the idea that platonic love is a lesser form of love
if you go through life not investing in your friendships the same way you invest in romantic relationships, you will always be looking for love, feeling lonely, completely blind to the love all around you
friendship is not a lower level relationship. it is not a lesser form of love.
After collecting the Traitor's mail for months,
teaming up with a doppelganger,
interrupting intimate moments,
using threats
and demonic karate skills,
and chasing the Traitor around the entire Moor Hall, while the Traitor was chasing his emotional support angel,
Shax asserted her dominance and delivered the mail
and could finally have some time for herself.
Many thanks to my very own emotional support angels @fuzzywhispersbear and @drimmsydra β€οΈ The whole weekend has been an absolute blast!
Zine: Aromantic Fictional Characters ππ€π€
Happy aromantic spectrum awareness week!
This time I made a zine with some of the aromantic fictional characters I know. Some of them were only confirmed by their creators or the actors who played them but I still think it is nice to know that we can see them or read them and relate to their experiences. Representation is so important and looking at the experiences of these characters made me feel so seen and valid.
I donβt really know what to say, this is my first aro week and I already feel so much love and support, Iβm happy with my identity and proud to be part of this lovely community. πβ¨
I don't need sleep, I need to talk about fiction. She/they ππβ€οΈ aspec (gomens | ofmd | su | amphibia | toh | tdp | hellaverse | atla | httyd | arcane)
