🔹 Saying That It's Okay To Write Or Read About Dark And Taboo Topics But Only When They're Portrayed

🔹 Saying that it's okay to write or read about dark and taboo topics but only when they're portrayed in a certain way is still censorship.

🔹 Wanting to ban or forbid media that you believe portrays a negative topic in a positive light, by glorifying, romanticizing, or fetishizing it is still censorship.

🔹 There is no objective metric to decide if a story is portraying a negative topic the 'right' way.

🔹 Just because a piece of fiction doesn't explicitly condemn or portray an evil action in a bad light in the text doesn't mean the author thinks its good or is trying to persuade the audience that it is good.

🔹 Survivors of trauma will not always write fiction about their trauma in a way that seems 'right' or 'normal' to you.

🔹 Banning fiction because it portrays dark, taboo topics in a way you consider gross or disgusting is still censorship.

Hi please PLEASE talk to me abt the socioeconomic state of japan in bnh verse I am SO interested to hear ur thoughts? I'm a poli theory major and let me tell u im a SLUT for fic that deal w the political/social repercussions of fictional happenings

sure thing!

disclaimer: i only just graduated high school so i’m pulling all of this out of my ass one semester of macroeconomics i took in senior year. feel free to add onto or correct any of this

edit: if anyone wants to use this for reference when writing boku no hero japan, feel free! i’d appreciate any credit, but it’s not necessary.

–

what really got me thinking about the socioeconomic state of boku no hero japan was probably the difference between orudera junior high (bakugou and izuku’s school) vs. yuuei, both of which are in the same city, musutafu. orudera junior high gives off the feeling of a school that’s a bit run down; not terrible enough that it obstructs the kids’ education, but enough that you think the school probably can’t afford to keep it in good repair.

here’s a screenshot of bakugou and izuku’s classroom:

image

and then here’s izuku’s desk, which has details indicating that it’s in slight disrepair:

image

if you go back through the chapters and look at the setting at yuuei, it’s spic-n-span. just super clean and well-kept. it’s an entire world of difference… so already there is this huge disparity between the junior high school in izuku’s neighborhood, and yuuei, which is a 40 minute subway ride away (chapter 3).

makes sense that yuuei would be so nice and expensive if it’s the most prestigious hero academy in the country, right? but there’s more details too, like this brief exchange between bakugou & iida right at the very beginning:

image

bakugou’s resentful comment about iida being an “elite” really only makes sense to me in the context of economic disparity. let’s infer that soumei junior high is better funded, better equipped, better everything in general. of course bakugou will resent iida for that, especially coming from the more ill-maintained orudera junior high. the difference in their economic status is already apparent.

this isn’t even going into the difference between yaoyorozu’s incredibly rich status vs the rest of the class vs uraraka, who has decided to become a hero because she wants the financial security, and who also lives in an apartment by herself and skips meals to save on money. so even within the class itself there’s a huuuge difference in economic status.

you could just think of it as the individual circumstances of the characters, but i think it’s more of a systematic problem – see, again, the difference in infrastructure quality between the different schools (the public school is not doing so great but yuuei is doing fantastic). maybe the city is poor, or maybe all of its funds go towards repairing the constant property damage from villain attacks, or maybe there’s just some areas they don’t care to maintain. either way: just by traversing different parts of the city you’ll probably see big differences in how well the neighborhoods are kept.

and now, for a different question: if this is the golden age of peace, why are there still so many villain fights?

Superheroes that are like “if we kill them we’re just as bad as they are uwu” ? Micro dick energy

I have been seeing posts about how people who have been bullied project onto Midoriya and don’t accept Bakugou’s apology need to get over themselves and how sad it is they can’t move on. And…I don’t know, it just strikes me as insensitive and tasteless to just tell people to get over their trauma, like they can wash their hands clean of it simply. I was not bullied in school, but I have heard stories about how for some the bullying got so bad, they take their lives.

And to see people say, “The apology was to Midoriya, not to you, so just get over yourself”, when it can get to such degrees to a person makes me trust anything a Bakugou Stan says less and less. Trauma is trauma in my eyes, and some people can get over it, good for them, some can’t. So it’s okay to shit on their feelings? It’s like telling a victim of an abusive parent to get over it. Or an abusive relationship to get over it. Or a r*** victim to get over it.

Am I being overly sensitive? I just don’t trust individuals who tell strangers they have no idea what people went through how to live their lives as if it were that simple. If people are allowed to relate to Bakugou because of the one of two “positive traits” they personally see in him, then why aren’t people who were tormented and bullied like Izuku not able to relate to him and find the shit apology lackluster?

To me, this is what makes some Bakugou stans shitty people.

Like whichever character you want, I don't care. But how the fuck are you gonna get mad that people who were bullied hate his character? That's like telling victims of SA pr trafficking that they can't hate Endeavor. I was called the r-slur once for bringing up that out of everyone, victims of bullying have the right to hate on Bakugou's character.

Attacking real people- VICTIMS AT THAT- to defend a fictional piece of shit privileged bully is not what we should be striving for.

Izuku accepting/forgiving Bakugou is always the excuse Bakugou stans give. God forbid you bring up Izuku's lack of agency regarding Bakugou throughout the story. But even so, Izuku's a fictional character, one that's been proven to be biased and unable to advocate for himself. He's an unreliable narrator so him accepting Bakugou doesn't mean anything to me. Remember, he also defended Endeavor against Dabi.

I love him, but his POV is skewed when it comes to things like this.

No, you're not being overly sensitive. Attacking real people for not liking your favorite character (who reminds them of their trauma) is shitty

Fandom Problem #8125:

Fandom Problem #8125:

Not gonna lie I kind of hate how multishipping is often villainized in fandom.

Like say for example I want to ship two completely different ships. Only problem however is those two communities are in a ship war. So how do I fit in the fandom if shippers on both sides hate me for shipping both. And furthermore the lack of content for the specific polyship can also be disheartening as well. It seems like polyshippers are always excluded from fandoms and that frustrates me to know end. It would make shipping much less toxic. Plus nobody forcing you to ship it either we just a space where we have the ability to ship both without people being weird about it.

I swear if I told the Naruto Fandom that I shipped both Sasunaru and Naruhina I’d be executed on the spot.

First ape to go to the watering hole with a container and put some of the water in it so that they could drink more later without returning to the watering hole must have been lauded as a fucking genius.
