I keep seeing this cute Dad Might picture in my head – clear as a photograph, I tell you.
Just imagine: It’s winter, and cold, and for some reason, Izuku and Toshinori take the train to get home from wherever they have been. It’s already late, the train almost empty, and Izuku is freezing up. So in search for some warmth, he cuddles against Toshinori’s side. Toshinori, you have to know, is a living, walking heater. So he’s the perfect source of warmth for the freezing, tired boy.
Speaking of tired: Somehow, Izuku manages to fall asleep on Toshinori.
Toshinori startles when he realizes that Izuku is literally using him as a pillow, and spits blood in embarrassment and flustered surprise. But once he sees how content sleeping Izuku looks, he can’t bring himself to move the boy away. Instead he adjusts, making sure that the boy is comfortable leaning against his bony shoulder and not going to slip off, and proceeds to watch the lights passing by at high-speed outside.
(Or at least, he pretends to. He quickly comes to realize that watching Izuku sleeping, breathing evenly and scrunching up his nose and murmuring from time to time, is way more interesting.)
happy pancake day 🥞
Hi please PLEASE talk to me abt the socioeconomic state of japan in bnh verse I am SO interested to hear ur thoughts? I'm a poli theory major and let me tell u im a SLUT for fic that deal w the political/social repercussions of fictional happenings
sure thing!
disclaimer: i only just graduated high school so i’m pulling all of this out of my ass one semester of macroeconomics i took in senior year. feel free to add onto or correct any of this
edit: if anyone wants to use this for reference when writing boku no hero japan, feel free! i’d appreciate any credit, but it’s not necessary.

what really got me thinking about the socioeconomic state of boku no hero japan was probably the difference between orudera junior high (bakugou and izuku’s school) vs. yuuei, both of which are in the same city, musutafu. orudera junior high gives off the feeling of a school that’s a bit run down; not terrible enough that it obstructs the kids’ education, but enough that you think the school probably can’t afford to keep it in good repair.
here’s a screenshot of bakugou and izuku’s classroom:
and then here’s izuku’s desk, which has details indicating that it’s in slight disrepair:
if you go back through the chapters and look at the setting at yuuei, it’s spic-n-span. just super clean and well-kept. it’s an entire world of difference… so already there is this huge disparity between the junior high school in izuku’s neighborhood, and yuuei, which is a 40 minute subway ride away (chapter 3).
makes sense that yuuei would be so nice and expensive if it’s the most prestigious hero academy in the country, right? but there’s more details too, like this brief exchange between bakugou & iida right at the very beginning:
bakugou’s resentful comment about iida being an “elite” really only makes sense to me in the context of economic disparity. let’s infer that soumei junior high is better funded, better equipped, better everything in general. of course bakugou will resent iida for that, especially coming from the more ill-maintained orudera junior high. the difference in their economic status is already apparent.
this isn’t even going into the difference between yaoyorozu’s incredibly rich status vs the rest of the class vs uraraka, who has decided to become a hero because she wants the financial security, and who also lives in an apartment by herself and skips meals to save on money. so even within the class itself there’s a huuuge difference in economic status.
you could just think of it as the individual circumstances of the characters, but i think it’s more of a systematic problem – see, again, the difference in infrastructure quality between the different schools (the public school is not doing so great but yuuei is doing fantastic). maybe the city is poor, or maybe all of its funds go towards repairing the constant property damage from villain attacks, or maybe there’s just some areas they don’t care to maintain. either way: just by traversing different parts of the city you’ll probably see big differences in how well the neighborhoods are kept.
and now, for a different question: if this is the golden age of peace, why are there still so many villain fights?

If we’re being honest the most unrealistic thing about MHA is that…you mean to tell me…none of these kids dick around with their quirks??? Legit some of these kids have the most wild and borderline outlandish powers and you fr expect me to believe they all handle them in a responsible manner?? LMAO OKAY >You mean to tell me Sero hasn’t used his tape to tape himself or others to the wall/ceiling??
> Jirou doesn’t take her ear thingys and hijack the aux cord to play Cupcakke or Take On Me at full blast???
>denki doesn’t go around (mildly) shocking his friends??? Come on…we know he can be used as a charger give us this…
> Urarararararaka doesn’t randomly make people/their possesions float to see how long it takes them to notice?
> Kirishima and tetsutesu don’t go around headbutting every hard surface they see because someone dared them to?
> kendo doesn’t walk around with her hands enlarged to see how long it takes someone to say something??
> Shinsou doesn’t make people do the Macarena or smth when they slightly piss him off just because he thinks it’s funny???
>Ojiro doesn’t go around hanging from random trees and poles with his tail?
Even the more serious characters like Bakugou, Iida, Tokoyami, Todoroki, and Tsu would fuck around with their quirks they’re tEeNaGeRs > tsu wouldn’t cling to the wall and startle people at the doors? She wouldn’t use her tongue to grab objects she could reach if she just moved a little more???
> Tokoyami wouldn’t use dark shadow to sneak into the dorm kitchen and get him a snack bc he got the munchies at 4am??? Rly??
> Todoroki is a thermometer for fucks sake you seriously mean to tell me he hasn’t set the dorm on fire at least once because he wanted to heat up his hot pocket without using the microwave??? He hasn’t tried to ice skate to class??
> You mean to tell me Iida doesn’t Naruto run to class sometimes…he isn’t the one that gives Midoriya super sonic piggyback rides bc Midoriya already told someone “he had a ride”????
> Bakugou doesn’t go around lighting up ant hills or using his quirk like a firework bc the bakusquad wanted to cause some Teenage Chaos at 1am??
But the most unrealistic thing of all…is that Izuku Midoriya…the boy who was once qUIRKLESS DOESN’T FUCK AROUND WITH HIS POWERS THE MOST > You mean to tell me he doesn’t wall jump in order to sit in really high places he’s not supposed to just bc he can?? He doesn’t do that thing where you use your legs and back to support yourself between two walls except it’s between two buildings?? He doesn’t try to stand on top of light posts like the weeb headass he is? He doesn’t do Extreme Parkour?? He doesn’t try to support things with his legs that he really doesn’t need to (balancing desks, the chair of the kid in front of him (with said kid in chair), boxes, etc.)?? He doesn’t Naruto run to class (with iida)??? He doesn’t take every dare that’s given to him because he’s That Bitch??
Un-fucking-likely Horikoshi
the great thing about izuku midoriya is. he is just vibrating with indescribable energy. at all times he is the way i am after seven cups of coffee. he is always inhabited by the kind of manic drive that most people only glance at during a life-changing nervous breakdown in middle school. the only thing tethering him to this world and preventing him from flinging himself straight into the sun is probably his love for his mom. he is unrestrained by concepts like “pain” or “reality”. this little man has never met a lick of common sense in his life. when all might inevitably dies of old age izuku will physically transport himself and successfully fistfight god for his soul
my boy kouta here telling some truth and doing god’s work, goodbye mineta
i just think they're silly
