Things that made me fall in love with Jin Guangyao:

When he gave Lan Xichen 24 hours notice before he went looking for Wangxian at the Cloud Recesses. Bestie behaviour.

When he didn't sleep with his sister after he married her. Classy behaviour (I watched GoT/HoD)

When he killed his dad using prostitutes that bullied his mum. Iconic behaviour on two levels. One because if anyone deserved to die via forced orgy it was Jin Guangshan, two I just love me some twisted vengeance. Also he didn't kill the prostitute that was nice to his mum so clearly my boy has values. Granted he did keep her locked up in a house. But y'know self preservation and all that.

When he took over the cultivation world for a bit despite being exceptionally good at being booted down stairs and also being the son of a whore. Shameless social climbing is my favourite trope of all time!

When he built a literal temple on top of his mum's coffin so that she got to be worshipped.

When he knew all the Wangxian gossip and couldn't comprehend why they had two rooms.

When he never did anything bad to Lam Xichen in his whole life ever but still got stabbed.

When he decided to die like a bad bitch.

When he pushed Lan Xichen.

3am time to post mxtx mains on a hot ones interview:

hua cheng: like a rock. no reaction. never touches the milk.

xie lian: totally unfazed, but commenting on the ones that start making his lips burn like oh! so interesting

shen qingqiu: dying. gets through maybe 2 levels before showing discomfort. trying so hard to play it cool every time he has to grab for the milk/bread

luo binghe: not particularly bothered. very critical of the flavor/spice ratio in some of the sauces

lan wangji: very stoic. however he is also dying. bright red immediately. you can see the steam coming out of his ears by the third level

wei wuxian: terrifies the interviewer by demanding the bottles and adding more hot sauce to every wing. hits the last two-three levels and goes, "oh! finally these are getting good!" does shots of the last couple sauces off a spoon.

Yknow there's something so in character about how JC, JGY and WWX in the advice they give Jin Ling to deal with the bullying issue.

Jiang Cheng tells him to come to him and even if Jin Ling doesn't, the moment he gets a hint that someone is fucking around with his nephew, it's Zidian out for murder because only he can be mean to Jin Ling cause he's the only one he knows doesn't actually mean it.

Jin Guangyao suggests the same survival method he uses, don't act rashly or fight back immediately, you need to get better and stronger until you are standing higher than them and they aren't worth your time, so stay calm don't let it get to you.

And then Wei Wuxian strolls up, helps him beat em up and tells him to continue beating them up, until he's an adult and cannot be easily pardoned for breaking the rules.
