Hello and welcome to my main blog, which is mostly my odd, or what I deem funny experiences. I have a writing blog where I post things for no real reason(includes prompts)

Today I want to remember the Americans who have fought for our freedoms.
Not only the Military.
Today I want to remember:
The Protestors. The Union Members. The Picketers. The Marchers. The Glass Ceilings Breakers. The Strikers.
Today I am grateful for all of the Americans who have stood up to corrupt systems in our Nation and demanded the Freedom and rights they deserved.
Today I want to remember those who exercised their right to protest an unfair government.
Or unfair working conditions and evil corporate fat cats.
Today let’s remember:
The May Day Parade. The Coal Strike of 1902. The Southwest Railroad Strike. The Dearborn Hunger March. The Textile Workers Strike. The Harlan County War. The Birmingham March. The National March on Washington. the US Postal Workers Strike. The Stonewall Riots. Fountain House. The Million Man March. The Los Angeles Riots. Ferguson. Standing Rock. The Women’s March. The March for Our Lives. The March for Science.
Sojourner Truth. Mother Jones. The “Rednecks”. The Suffragist. Francis Perkins. Lucy Parsons. Martin Luther King. Rosa Parks. Malcolm X. Ruby Bridges. Kent State. SANE. MADD. Occupy Wall Street. Black Lives Matter. Times Up. Emma Gonzalez.
And all the other groups and unnamed/forgotten individuals who put themselves in harm's way to fight for the rights we deserve.
Freedom isn’t free.
*Sometimes yes that will mean war and the lives lost protecting America*
Sometimes, however, it means using your voice to stand up against the wrongs that our own country is allowing or committing. Freedom then comes at the price of being blacklisted, rubber bullets, tear gas, lives lost, and long nights spent in jail. Do not forget the cost it took to get to where we are today. Even when it feels like we have so far left to go.
Remember protest is patriotic. It’s the very freedom our Founding Fathers wanted to ensure we had when they wrote the Bill of Rights. Even if we have used those rights to grant more freedoms then they ever anticipated. Expanding and evolving the concept of freedom to reach more than just rich, white men.
Protesting is the very reason America exists.
Never forget those who have fought for our rights.
Never forget that you yourself hold this same power.
This Fourth of July educate yourself on the movements, marches, and protests that it took to make America the nation we know today. Then think about the ways you can use your voice to continue to improve America and make it a place we can all be proud to call home. A place where even the most marginalized groups can feel free.
Happy Fourth of July.
Let Freedom Ring.

Everyone gets this at least once in their life. The water’s too hot and it burns the skin. However, I always find it hard to remember the feeling and effect of it, so as I write this with a burned hand let’s go over this.
CAUSES: Really, REALLY hot water. Anything from horribly-temperatured water in high school bathrooms to the kind that’s boiled in a pot for spaghetti. Something that’s good to know is that it sometimes doesn’t register as scalding hot in your brain, and it’s not until the burn sets in that you realize that oh, I fucked up.
THE BURN AT THE START: Depending the source, it can be big, small, severe, miniscule. Overly hot tap water may just create a barely-visible patch of sensitive on the back of your hand. Spilling spaghetti water on your leg may cause the whole thing to go red, maybe even develop blisters, and in the wild scenario that the body part is submerged in scalding water, a hospital visit and extensive skin treatment is definitely in order. Sometimes at first it just feels funny, like Oh Geez What The Hell Did I Bruise My Hand Or Something. But then after a few minutes/hours it’s Oh God I Fucked Up.
THE BURN IN 2 DAYS: For small-scale burns, it takes around 2-3 days to notice anything’s off. All liquid coming in contact with the burn makes it ache, and any water that isn’t freezing hurts, and even then it still stings a little. The skin gets rough and slightly brittle in some spots. Big-time burns, however, form almost immediately, and within a few hours the skin turns red and splatter-like, and hurt a LOT. They resemble rashes, if you could pick up a can of paint that looks like a rash and throw it on someone. After a day (or two?) blisters may begin to form.
THE BURN IN A WEEK: Small-scale burns become more invisible than ever, but skin begins to flake off the burn as dry skin. Scratching it hurts, and the cold brings a strange aching sensation to the area. Large burns are similar, but on a MUCH larger, er, scale. Cold hurts, dry skin is everywhere (and it’s very nasty), it’s somewhat disfiguring with how red it is, and god forbid if anything touches it. Large burns can alternatively take a toll on mental health through making someone afraid to look at the spot because the injury has made it look so… unpleasing.
EXTRA HURTING: All I can think of is popping any blisters that form from large-scale burns. It’s incredibly painful, like a stab, and also very disgusting as well as making it harder to heal, but yet fairly easy to do.
HEALING: Small-scales generally heal on their own. It takes about three weeks to get the skin completely back to normal, maybe even more. Large-scale burns, however, may take anywhere from three weeks to a year, depending on how severe the burn is.
EXTRA: Characters probably won’t reveal smaller-scale burns since they’re invisible, and think nobody will believe that they are aching/in pain. Even if it’s covering their entire body and bringing a world of constant ache, they probably won’t say anything. Large-scale burns are obviously much more obvious and look like a few other injuries/sicknesses- as harmless as poison ivy and as deadly as a number of sicknesses caused by ticks- so a burn could be misdiagnosed, but caretakers will certainly be in shambles trying to patch it up.
Japanese tea bag maker Ocean-Teabag has been making waves by creating little parcels of aroma in the shape of marine animals. Luckily for us, their wide range of tea bags are available at online Japanese novelty retailer Village Vanguard, maker of such fine products as Space Tea and cat-shaped kitchen utensils.
Ocean-Teabag’s earliest designs included beautiful dolphin tea bags filled with blue mallow tea leaves. Steeping them turns your otherwise normal pot of water into a tranquil ocean. Proving to be a hit among tea lovers, Ocean-Teabag expanded their repertoire to many other sea creatures including the sea turtle (butterfly pea jasmine tea)…
the distinctive ocean sunfish (Japanese hojicha — roasted green tea)…
the graceful manta ray (tropical mango tea)…
and even a blood-thirsty shark (blended herb tea).
The newest addition to their robust series of marine creatures is a tea bag shaped like an innocuous sea cucumber. This little parcel is filled with jasmine tea, as well as a smidgen of sea cucumber powder to lend some authenticity. Ocean-Teabag warns that some people who have a sensitive tongue may find it tasting a little fishy.
The company also crafted a deep sea series that will satisfy even the most adventurous of tea drinkers out there. A few such examples are the anglerfish (earl grey tea)…
the creepy giant isopod (Eastern Beauty oolong tea)…
the horseshoe crab (white apricot tea)…
…and lastly the king of them all, the enormous giant oarfish. ( Delicious Assam tea of epic proportions! ) Just like its namesake, it measures a whopping 19 centimeters (7.5 inches). Drinking tea becomes an art when half of your tea bag hangs out of your cup.
While the notion of turning your cup of tea into fish-inhabiting waters is not new, these tea bags will hopefully conjure up images of gentle ocean waves in your mind.

Hey guys, I know a lot of you may not be crafty people, but please listen.
Ravelry, the largest online crafting community (of several million people), just banned all Trump support on it’s platform claiming that he is a white supremacist and all of his supporters must be the same. Let’s start: First off, Trump isn’t a white supremacist. Thought I should get that out of the way.
Secondly, you just banned the political opinion of HALF OF AMERICA. You are saying that HALF OF THE COUNTRY are racist. Even the ones that don’t happen to be white. You are saying that anyone can say anything politically, except for the Trump supporters, who we say are second-class intellectual citizens based on a lie that they aren’t allowed to refute.
Thirdly, Oh Yeah! If you complain about this, they will delete your comment. You can’t protest, you can’t get mad, all disagreement is hate speech.
Fourthly, Ravelry is a HUGE source of income to crafters! It is where you buy and sell patterns, yarn, and other yarn crafting supplies. Ravelry is also where crafting events are organized. They are essentially saying that you can’t make income unless you agree with their false claim.
Fifthly, this is a precedent for other sites. After doing some research, ravelry followed in the footsteps of rpg.com, who did the same thing. If we let Ravelry sweep people they disagree with to the side, and essentially gag a whole spectrum of viewpoints on a false claim, then where do they stop? Other social media has tried to take down conservative viewpoints, and said the same vile things, calling people racist, bigoted, homophobic, and essentially sub-human, as if saying those things without evidence and shouting them louder when they are refuted makes you cozy and inclusive. It’s a very us vs. them mentality, and I have to wonder if the people who make these rules are ever around people who disagree with them, or if they realized that people they knew did disagree with them would they turn them out in an instant or see common humanity?
Again, I know this isn’t everyone’s thing, but if you could reblog or make your own post, I would be eternally grateful: I am trying to use the hashtag notokayravelry to get things going. Crazy knitter types can’t let injustice stand!

decorating tip for people who aren’t allowed to choose their wall colors (teens, students, renters etc). they now make self-adhesive wallpaper that’s
easy to apply by yourself
removable: easy to peel off w/out damage
can be reusable
they can be expensive, so shop around. a cheaper option is wall decals, which come in a range of sizes. you can even order a custom print online. or just use wallpaper on an accent wall or smaller spaces.

This isn’t a massive topic in international news (yet), but Hong Kong may be passing an amended extradition law that would allow the Chinese government to come to Hong Kong to arrest people or even confiscate their property, through Extradition Requests. The reason why this is terrible for HK is because HK and China currently use “one country, two systems”. It means that while technically the two are in the same country, there are 2 different (legal) systems used. HK has freedom of speech, China does not. HK also has a much higher rule of law ranking than China.
If this law is passed, mainland Chinese authorities will be able to arrest people in HK on trumped-up charges. They’ve already taken our people because they didn’t like the things some of them did. For example, a bookstore owner in HK was kidnapped by the Chinese authorities because he sold books that were banned in mainland China. Imagine how much worse this situation would be if arresting people in HK became legal for Chinese authorities?
This is a threat to the HK system and freedom of speech in HK. 30 years ago on June 4, there was a protest in Beijing, China. Most of the attendees were students, who were fighting for democracy, freedom of speech and greater accountability from the higher-ups in the government. Several hundred to over thousands of participants were killed by the Chinese military with assault rifles and tanks. This is now called the Tiananmen Massacre. It is now censored in mainland China, and just the mention of the Tiananmen Massacre can lead to the person getting arrested or even killed. It’s been entirely erased from their history, and most young people do not know that it happened. There aren’t any more protests in mainland China because this is what happens if they do; they have been silenced by their government. HK is the only city on Chinese soil with the ability to talk about this tragic event, and we hold a vigil every year on June 4 to speak out against the Chinese government and how they refuse to acknowledge this event. If this law were passed, HK would be silenced as well, and the Tiananmen Massacre would be entirely wiped from history within China.
The reason why this needs greater international attention is that it isn’t just a matter of HK lives. There are hundreds of thousands of expats living in HK, with a great number of international businesses and tourists within the city. If any one of them says or does something that the Chinese government doesn’t like, the government could make up trumped-up charges to pin on them then take them to mainland China, where who knows what would happen to them. Everyone in HK’s life and safety is threatened. HK, as we know and love, would die.
If you’re still reading this, I sincerely thank you. On June 9, there will be rallies going on around the world in the cities mentioned in the below pic. I urge you to participate if this is something you sympathize with if possible. The best way to help would be to generate international attention. Stand with HK, and help us keep our people safe.

I’m only accepting criticism in the form of Barenaked Ladies merchandise.
For any people who could become pregnant in Georgia, know that the awful six-week abortion ban is NOT in effect yet. A lot of news outlets are failing to report this so I thought I would help spread the word. Don’t panic if you’re pregnant or might be pregnant and want an abortion. The ban won’t go into effect until January 1, 2020. And that’s only if it survives legal challenges.
However, with the courts and SCOTUS as they are now, it actually might survive. Get an IUD when you can, if you can. For others, if you were wanting a vasectomy, get that done soon.
My school has decided we can’t bring backpacks to HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES. WHERE YOU NEED TEXTBOOKS AND LARGE PROJECTS. we only get 5 minutes in between classes and most students classes are across campus. The school is scared that someone will have a weapon in their backpack but during most school shootings backpacks with heavy books and other items have saved lives. My friend emailed our principle a very strongly worded letter and he has his heart set on it. Reblog if you disagree and me and my friend will write down everyone who does, and give it to him. Thank you!
I feel like the best way to respond to someone you’re friends with making gross, racist, sexist etc. jokes isn’t to argue with them or call them out directly, but just to kind of wince at them like they just did something incredibly inappropriate and awkward and try to change the subject. Like, almost in an exaggerated way, like you’re just really disgusted and want to forget they said it. Arguing with them lets them 1) shoehorn you as a “SJW” and shut themselves off to you 2) defend their opinion or feel like they did and 3) lets you end up categorized as the person who did the inappropriate thing by making a “big deal” out of it. But acting like you would with any extremely gross and inappropriate thing makes it harder for them to mentally defend themselves and thus to avoid feeling weird and ashamed. It prevents them from getting in any way satisfied by your reaction or validated in their views. It makes them the person that broke a rule. And anyway, it is really gross and inappropriate to joke like that. It has to be a taboo, not just a viewpoint or a style of humor that some people don’t like. If you argue, it frames the issue as an opinion. If you just show disgust and displeasure and treat the offensive material like you would a pile of dog shit on a sidewalk you’re walking down, it’s not arguable. It’s an action, with nothing intellectual about it, and there’s nothing for them to defend against.
Anyone have any thoughts? Has anybody tried this?
