Here's The Point! They Are All Trying To Get The Word Out In English For The World To Hear, See And Help

I want to highlight something that is perhaps a bit of an oversight for many. Those of us who are engaging with the journalists reporting from Gaz an are able to do so because they are speaking in English. They are speaking in English which is not their mother tongue. They are not speaking for or to each other. From a trauma perspective, the strength it must take to translate your experiences is immense. This is more than them "just saying it in English" this is them begging for our help. When in trauma, the mother tongue is heavily relied on as a form of expression.

They are speaking English for us. So we hear them. So we understand them. So we stand beside them. And so that we can never say, "we had no idea!" Let us see what a privilege it is that they speak to us in our language and recognise it as a means of accessing the world. How grateful we should be, don't take their labour for granted as they do everything they can to survive.

@mixing.up.motherhood

Here's the point! They are all trying to get the word out in English for the world to hear, see and help them. Besides, they are all very young and have to deliver news like this. At a time when teenagers their age are having fun going to clubs and whatnot, meanwhile they (motaz and another journalist in Palestine) have to deliver the genocide that is happening in their country, in their homeland.

I'm sure we all know this, but some of you are still reluctant to talk about Palestine, still reluctant to stand up for Palestine.

fuck israel, israeli, joe biden, Netanyahu!!!

This is not a natural disaster. This was not inevitable. They didn't grow up like this. It was inflicted on them by the vilest sadists on earth.

“If I am killed, write about me and tell the world about my dreams”

The martyr, Reem Mahmoud Abu Daya. Reem's greatest fear was not death itself, but rather being remembered only as a statistic after being killed in the Israeli aggression.

She often told her friend Mohammed, "If I am killed, write about me and tell the world about my dreams. Tell them that I had undergone LASIK surgery a few months ago and started seeing Gaza with my own two eyes.

Tell them that I want to buy a camera to capture the beauty of Gaza."

Reem Mahmoud Abu Daya is not just a number; she will be remembered. Reem, along with her family, was martyred in an Israeli airstrike on January 7, 2024.

Bulletproof Dreams is an exhibition that displays paintings by Gazan children and aims to raise international awareness to the genocide in Gaza. The exhibition is located in Turkey. So powerful.

“genocides can’t be compared because each one is unique” as if literally anyone on planet earth making comparisons between genocides isn’t aware that history is more complicated than a set of infinitely repeating identical events. how fucking condescending can you get. the word genocide is a legal term that is meant to standardise our ability to identify a broad set of violent actions and behaviours as genocide even when they differ in the details, because the outcome is the same - a crime against humanity. if no genocide is comparable then genocide does not exist as a category of crime. to deny the comparability of genocides is tantamount to genocide denial
