Hey have some pixels
obligatory saimota posting hours!!
they make me sick :]/aff
(warning that there are a TON of images, I had a lot saved and the ones on this post isn't even all of it T-T)
this is in no way a good analysis post, moreso just be screaming about The Gays(TM) for the millionth time (sorry not sorry/j)
^ I've ranted about this bit before but WHO CARES
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!! SHUICHI ISN'T WEAK AND SCARED ANYMORE!!! HE'S GROWN
just compare this to the after-trial of chapter 1 and it's astounding
^ the moment the closet disappeared, documented (iconic)
^ I yap about this scene a lot, and for good reason :D
it just shows that Kaito really does want Shuichi to see him as an equal, a friend and not just 'the hero', who's unreachable with words and whatnot
the whole dilemma Kaito has in this event is that he 'can't show weakness to his sidekick' BUT Shuichi can assure him, telling him to remember he's also just his friend- and Kaito is comforted by that, and it appears that he does want to be seen as a friend, and for Shuiwchi to see himself as a friend to Kaito as well :]
^ the delivery of 'Kaito no!' has not yet failed to make me choked up
WHY. IS THE LINE LIKE THAT :( he sounds so heartbroken it hurts me on a mental and physical level
AND KAITO PRAISING HIM RIGHT AFTER MY GODD
I think the comedic potential of Kaito's talent is underutilized. Like, sure the "Ultimate Astronaut" hasn't been to space, but like how funny would it be if he's still like an esteemed rocket scientist and astrophysicist?
Like Miu tries to build another Jetpack That Sucks You Offโข after the first one explodes and Kaito takes one look at the blueprints and goes "Oh, you forgot an O-ring seal on the right SRB here, that should keep your fuel stabilizers from decoupling" to the abject bewilderment of the others.
The man deserves the Fred Scooby Doo treatment where he's still a dumb jock, but with a PHD.
Made this because me and my friends were being silly guys
Okay now obviously Kaitos love suite hotel is pretty easily oumota coded
But ngl what gets me is this
Like???
I don't even know how to express this, something something about Kaito wanting a rival he can be somewhat "one" with and him having to literally impersonate Kokichi in chapter 5?
Do you guys see what im getting at or am I going crazy.
Be careful what you wish for i guess?
WAITER WAITER!! More stupid bickering between these two please
Negative vrs positive enforcement
I did this all on my phone and finger, pls don't bully me...
"Kaito literally punched Shuichi just for crying!" is an obscenely widespread sentiment when there's only one person crying in that scene, and it isn't Shuichi.
Shuichi isn't crying in the lead-up to this, either; he cries before Kaede is executed, and afterwards just goes completely silent, in a state of shock, while the other students freak out around him for a good few minutes. Which is the real reason why Kaito punched him:
So no, he didn't punch Shuichi for "being sad and crying". Still totally unreasonable on Kaito's part, but it's wild just how many people get this chain of events completely backwards. If anything, Kaito is angry that Shuichi isn't acting more upset.
It's a post-game "it was all a simulation and now we're stuck in a hospital" kind of a situation.
v3 if it was good
I was looking back at how Kaito revealed himself in the 5th trial and a certain comment caught my interest.
Monokuma already had the hint that it could be Kaito in the Exisal. And the chance of Shuichi's lie actually working is a 50/50 chance but still low with the way Monokuma responded to Shuichi.
Kaito getting the hint that Monokuma was not fooled by Shuichi's lie completely took the bullet and the blame for Shuichi's mistake. And in a way there are players that blame Kaito for this, which is what Kaito wanted since he did say "I'll take full responsibility". Thankfully I've seen Let's Players actually understood that Shuichi's lie wasn't gonna work on Monokuma. It was all left to luck in hoping that Monokuma would get it wrong. And Kaito wasn't gonna gamble on everyone's lives.
So in a way Kaito did take responsibility for Shuichi's mistake here. Shuichi's mistake was revealing the truth and helping Monokuma without a second thought till it was already too late.
Kaito did put everything on Kokichi's plan, believing it could work out but he also knew Shuichi would foil the plan. Kaito still looked at the positive side for Shuichi to keep pushing forward, even though he was minutes away from dying. But the sad truth is that Shuichi did push Kaito to reveal the plan, as Shuichi said he cornered Kaito.
Remember Shuichi is terrified of revealing the truth and this trial could have 100% rebound Shuichi back to being how he was in Chapter 1.
But thankfully Kaito made Shuichi promise him to end the killing game. It paralleled Kaede's trial but showed Shuichi's development. Instead of the quiet meek teen he was in Chapter 1, he now back talks at Monokuma.
Shuichi talking back at Monokuma will always be my favorite, this is what Kaito wanted Shuichi to do in Chapter 1 instead of blaming himself.
I feel like I could write more but I just wanted to throw this little food for thought out there.
I like how Danganronpa V3 doesn't spoon feed to the players. There's just so much to analyze and interpret in the game.
I wanna talk about something that's been bothering me since I entered the Danganronpa fanbase.
Why can't some people do actual research before echoing what they see from one person?
I'm talking about the "Kaito is homophobic" remarks I've been seeing.
I went around and did some research and wow, the fanbase in the West is a mess.
It's all a literal culture difference/mistranslation.
Here's what a Japanese translator said on reddit, they explain the word that Kaito uses and how the Japanese media have normalized in using this word.
The word is normalized that Japanese teens use it often like how the West uses the word "Fuck".
Japan's culture is just different with how they perceived in what is offensive and what isn't compared to the West.
The word is used alot in Children shows in Japan. The Japanese society didn't see it as a problem back then. Shows like Naruto, One Piece, HxH and Ouran High School Club have used the exact same word.
I've even have seen how in Persona games they treat trans as a comedy in the games. I remember people calling Ryuji "homophobic" for that one scene in the red light district, I believe in the Japanese version Ryuji called them that same word too. Of course it's supposed to be seen humorously for the Japanese fans. The West localization changed it to fit better in our culture.
I've also read from a Japanese redditor that the Japanese fanbase were using this word BEFORE the release of the game. They were already using this word to describe Kiyo.
In conclusion, it's a big culture difference. The Japanese fanbase are completely different from the West. Japanese society is slowlg changing their LGBTQ views but it can't be changed when the games are old now.
This is also speaking about the animes that have been mentioned. The fact that this word was in Children's shows in Japan was something new to me, so it explains alot why teens have normalized this word.
Since the post about differences in translation WRT Kaito and Kokichi's relationship was unfortunately deleted, I've taken it upon myself to make my own for posterity's sake.
NISA: Geezโฆ you're such a naive dude.
OG: ใใใใฃใใใใใกใผใฏใใฆใขใชใใใใ ใชใ/ โฆGeez, you're such a pure guy.
A pretty well-known change that makes Kaito sound more insulting then he does in the original. Kokichi's response was also altered not only in the text, but in the voice acting; in Japanese, he sounds uncharacteristically emotionless, rather than annoyed like in the dub.
NISA: Well, we come from different backgrounds. So for now, let's agree to disagree. No one's ever called me naive before. And from Kaito? Seriously?
OG: ใพใใ็พ็ฐใกใใใจใชใฌใฎ่ฉฑใๅใใชใใฎใๆๅใใใใใฆใใใใฉใใใ / Well, I'd already given up on seeing eye to eye with Momota-chan since the beginningโฆ ใใฅใขใชใใฆ่จใใใฆใฎใๅใใฆใ ใใใชใฌใฟใใใซๅใคใใใใ/ But that's the first time someone's called a liar like me pure.
Kaito goes from telling Maki to let Kokichi go or he'll die, to telling Maki to let Kokichi go so she won't get executed:
NISA: Maki Roll, cut it out! You'll get killed if you don't!
OG: ใใซใใญใใใใใใ๏ผใใไปฅไธใใฃใใใใธใงๆญปใฌใ๏ผ/ Harumaki, stop already! Any more than that and he'll seriously die!
Kaito's response to Maki saying he shouldn't have cooperated with Kokichi is translated to sound like he was pestered into it. In the original, it sounds like he's seriously reflecting on Kokichi's state of mind throughout the game.
NISA: It was kinda hard to ignore such an annoying guy. Geezโฆ I wonder how far ahead he planned this evil scheme of his.
OG: ใใใใใใคใใใใๆใใใคใใใใญใผใใ/ โฆHe wasn't that simple. ใพใฃใใใใใใฉใใใใฉใใพใงใ่จ็ฎใ ใฃใใใ ใใใชใใใใคใฎๆชๅทงใฟใใใ/ Manโฆ I wonder how much of it he'd planned out. For that cunning scheme of his.
And of course, Kaito's final words on Kokichi were made to sound a lot harsher.
NISA: He was a lying sack of shit.
OG: ใใใใใใคใฏ็ญ้ๅ ฅใใฎๅใคใใ ใฃใใใ/ โฆHe was a liar to the core.
i keep forgetting itโs 2025 ๐ฉ
All those ppl on twitter saying 'Boycott Natlan' yet not deleting the games are a bunch of morons ๐
Edit : Please dont take this post as me supporting hoyoverse . I dont, however all these new anniversay rewards are clearly targetted to players who quit the game. Obviously quitting the game is the best method of boycotting yet yall still wanna play a racist game. โค๏ธ
