The status of the Women in Islām pg. 21, translated by Raha Batts
it’s so inspirational how the Prophet ( ﷺ) would pray the Fard, Sunnah and Nafl prayers, despite being guaranteed Paradise and yet we find it hard to even just pray the Fard prayers and we don’t know if we will be granted Paradise
Overthinking is a sign that you do not trust Allah. As you learn to trust him, your mind will become calmer.

There’s different reasons for different writers, but in most cases it comes down to one simple thing:
You look at your project and you WANT to work on it, but…
you need to research a topic first to write it well
you need to go back and work out a character’s backstory first
you should probably fix the consistency of this character’s voice, they changed so much since you started chapter 1
you probably want to plot this out more
a couple of these chapters here and there are just a mess… which you promised to deal with later
Basically…. you’ve got a HEAP of tasks and issues ahead of you that you have to work out, before you can call the piece complete. And it is SO much work. And it’s overwhelming.
It’s easier to say you’ll untangle it a little later, or when you’ve got a clearer head.
But allow me to let you in on a little secret…
The only way writing gets less messy is if you write it out, and then you rewrite it. And then maybe rewrite it again.
But the only way to move forward is put all these current issues out of your mind, until you finish that first draft, no matter how much of a MESS it is.
Here are the most common reasons why it might feel like things are falling flat in your novel, or just not working out the way you want them to.
You don’t have a clear message You don’t have a grasp on what your story question is and how you’re going to answer it, or what themes you’re exploring beyond the plot.
You’ve lost sight of your character motivations This happens often, to experienced writers too. Sometimes you’re just not thinking in a way that puts your character motivations in the top priorities - where they should always be.
You rushed in without a plot structure Being a discovery writer is all good and way, pantsing your way through a story can be done, but even so, you should at least have a vague idea of what your biggest plot points are, so you don’t completely lose the middle.
You’re obsessed with the plot On the other tip of the scale, you might be obsessing over following every little plot thread you’ve laid out, that writing just isn’t fun anymore, and your characters are doing things for the sake of following your plot.
You’re not taking time to discover your world Allowing yourself some creative freedom from time to time is a great way to spark innovative scenes in your novel. Explore what the world you created has to offer, and let your characters do their own thing once in a while.

When I was a young writer, I was told that I often started my sentences with "there is/there was/there are." I was told to eliminate those as much as possible.
I couldn't believe how often I used them. My first novel was completely littered with them.
I learned to diversify and grow my use of verbs. Instead of the state-of-being verbs, like "is" which isn't very descriptive at all, I started using stronger verbs.
Instead of writing "There were a bunch of trees on the hill" I wrote "A cluster of trees towered over the hill."
"Towered" is a much stronger verb than "Is"
Use the state-of-being words, but if you can, try replacing them with more active verbs. You might be surprised how much your writing improves.

every time you want to date someone because you feel sorry for them, just imagine your descendants summoning you every single time you think your soul is about to rest because they won’t let the fact that you married someone horrendously facially challenged and your angelic looks did not, in fact, balance out as you thought it would
dear authors, if a character has dark ANYTHING, why does it have to be likened to food 😒
im dead I spoke too soon. he saved her from a child's scooter. a SCOOTER!!
normal kdramas have that scene where the guy saves the girl and then she catches feelings, but not gaus. no, instead, na rae realised she started to like sang sik after he covered up her fart w his and took the blame
I mean come on, did all the characters lack common sense to the point they just brushed over Caelum's identical markings to Estrella's? I was prepared for a shocking plot twist, not the obvious one smh

“Bad writing precedes good writing, This is an infallible rule, so don’t waste time trying to avoid bad writing. (That just slows down the process.) Anything committed to paper can be changed. The idea is to start, and then go from there.”
— Janet Hulstrand
seeing a poc author embrace their identity is so satisfying.
idk why but rose beating the shit out of Dimitri even after she won while everyone looks worried and gives each other sidelong glances is so funny to me
read abt the human experience to translate into stories, got it
I wish someone told me to just imagine my characters oversharing and going from there
the biggest compliment is finding yourself on a subliminal thumbnail
What Is a Simile?
Unlike metaphors, similes create a comparison using like and as. Perhaps you’ll recognize this famous example of simile from Forrest Gump: “Life is like a box of chocolates.”
In this case, the reader is more explicitly aware of the direct comparison that’s being made versus a metaphor or analogy. (Remember, a simile is a type of metaphor.) When it comes to simile use in writing, a good rule of thumb is to approach with caution and use similes sparingly.
Similes use the words like or as to compare things—“Life is like a box of chocolates.”
In contrast, metaphors directly state a comparison—“Love is a battlefield.”
They're all important when writing though. Making unconventional comparisons at times using similes and metaphors can add to your writing and make it much more layered and sophesticated. Eg:
His words wrapped themselves around me like Thorny vines of a spiteful plant, no more like the warm embrace of the sun on your skin.
Hope that was somewhat useful and In easy terms! Like, share and follow!
