A Ranger, you say?
i’d like to ask for your help in getting the word out on the tour i’m currently doing.
as you know: it’s…different. it’s just me and a piano (okay, and a ukulele sometimes), telling some of the most honest, hardest (and funniest) stories i’ve ever told. i’ve had a rough eight years: abortions, marriage, childbirth, miscarriage…the death of my very best friend to cancer. WHEEEE. FUN.
but the concert is fun. it’s hard and fun. this isn’t a “concert” as much as it is an intimate catch-up over a bottle of wine, with some of the most personal songs i’ve ever written, and a ton of humor to make the medicine go down.
i know a lot of you already have tickets, but the UK tour is now only about 50% sold out, and the european tour is about the same. some of these halls are HUGE and there’s no chance i’ll sell them out, but i’d like to make sure the halls are at least half full. why did this happen? eh. some very risky and probably slightly erroneous booking choices.
on this tour i will be visiting several cities i’ve never played before including essen, cork, offenbach am main, bexhill, cardiff, limerick, york & dunfermline.
this is such a personal show, and trying to hand-sell it to people who have NEVER seen me before is not an easy task.
it’s why the word of mouth element of spreading the word is so, so, so important.
this is where you come in. if you live in any of the countries that i’m about to hit….HELP ME.
below are some digital show flyers as well as links to the facebook events (where you can RSVP!) and tweets you can share about the shows. if you live within driving distance of any of these shows (or even if you have friends who do) please feel free to SHARE, INVITE and RETWEET to help get the word out. i will be thankful. your friends will be thankful. we will all be thankful. —–

Reasons why that creative project has been sitting at 95% completed for months or years on end:
What remains to be done is all editing and revision, and you resent the fact that your work can’t just be perfect on the first try
You remember that there was something you wanted to change, but you didn’t write it down and now can’t recall what it was, and you can’t proceed until you figure it out
You’re stuck in a loop of “there’s this one problem that I know I can’t resolve without external feedback, but I don’t want to show it to anyone else until after that problem has been resolved”
It’s really the process that you enjoy, and you’ve learned that you can indefinitely postpone the emotional letdown of a completed project if you simply refuse to acknowledge that there’s nothing further to be done
The unhinged perfectionist part of your brain is convinced that calling a project finished is tantamount to admitting that you couldn’t have done it better
You got absorbed in a second project and genuinely forgot that the first one existed
Aliens
Noone ever remember Michael Collins
it would've been cooler if those animals they sent into space came back with superpowers
Always!!
I don’t know what are you talking about. “Neil Gaiman don’t seem to have any social media”.
I love that Tumblr is like “We got Neil Gaiman to do a question and answer session so send in your questions and maybe he’ll answer them!” as though the man hasn’t spent the last few years hanging out here answering random questions and cementing himself as a widely beloved fixture of this site
NOTE: one type of fold will rarely appear on its own - they interact with each other quite a bit! for example, spiral folds might define the outline of a pant leg, while the interior folds might be zig-zag folds.
i’m trying to re-learn how to draw clothing, so i made this little guide to the most common shapes of folds that appear. hope it helps someone else too!

Do this four times repeatedly and you’ll be out. But how does it work? There’s some real brain science behind it.
the brush is complete…
