The blood was roaring in Scar's ears, his heart beating so powerfully he could almost feel it shaking his hands as he loosed his arrow. Pearl fell out of sight, stumbling back into the pit behind her as the arrow pierced her shoulder. The roaring grew louder for a moment, filling his mind with chaotic noise. He shook his head to clear it and locked eyes with an approaching zombie.

Huh.

She hadn't been lying.

Well, no matter. She was waiting for him down there.

"Pearl? I'm comin' for ya! Where'd you go?" He called as he began to make his way down into the pit, sword at the ready, a grin stretched wide across his face. Where was the banter, the fun? Was he just supposed to make this final battle interesting all on his own? That was hardly fair—

A soft voice drifted past his ear, past the blood and the flesh and the bone, and his heart seemed to stop.

"She's dead, Scar." His hands were shaking harder now, and he couldn't blame it on his heartbeat. "You won."

He knew that voice. The whisper of an ally, a soulmate, a victor.

A friend, once. A long time ago.

But if he was hearing that voice....

"Oh." His own voice was quiet, distant, nearly as ethereal as the hand he could just barely feel on his shoulder. "... How did the guy with no friends win?"

The shaking was in his voice now too, his mind finally clear for the first time in... how long? Weeks? Months, now?

He had done it.

He won.

Thunder rumbled as — surrounded by the spirits of those who were killed to get him there, tears slipping down his cheeks — Scar began to laugh.

As if summoned by Isobel’s thoughts, the door swung open and Aylin rushed through, the draft tousling her hair in the process.

“You should have warned me.”, she rasped, stopping just before Isobel, mere inches between them left.

“Oh, about this? Why, it’s very tame. You can barely see half a leg.”, Isobel pointed out innocently. Despite her own heart racing she brought the flute to her lips and took a sip of her champagne.

Aylin's warm hand slid past the silky fabric and pressed against the back of her thigh, fingers digging into soft skin. The other reached out to pull the flute from Isobel's hand and, with great foresight, placed it on the balcony railing.

Isobel brought her now empty hand to the nape of Aylin's neck, fingers curling into the hair there. Aylin's lips hung open, her eyes dark and hungry, entirely at Isobel's behest.

A small tug on her hair was enough to get her moving. The hand on Isobel's thigh lifted it up to make space for her body to slot in between.

She crowded herself against Isobel, her strong body pressing her into the wall.

The music coming from inside had long since faded. Isobel's own heart beating in her ears only mixed with the sounds of Aylin's heavy breathing.

Isobel tilted her face upwards to close the remaining distance between them and bring their lips together.

They had both been aching to do this for much too long already. Every second not spent kissing each other was seemingly wasted.

We must take succour in one another's bodies and words.

she is strong n fearless and agressive and assertive but still so full of love for her girlfriend isobel and gentle and sweet and kind to innocents yet still delivering justice to people who have wronged her. she was caged for years (not exactly sure how long but a while) and when she got out her first thing was to see her girlfriend, and THEN kill the guy that imprisoned her. i love her and need a knight gf like her please.
