TMayNT 18: Human Turtles I don't really have official human designs for the turtle brothers, these are just some quick sketches of the idea. I am working on an AU for TMNT where they have human forms, so I might take some aspects from this sketch.

You know that moment in season 4 when Raph saves Mona Lisa from falling, he catches her and they end up like this:

BIG missed opportunity to do the romance trope of accidental falling into their arms, ending up on top of one another in a cute but awkward encounter.

Like if you slow down the scene before this shot, you can see that Raph is holding Mona close to him and making sure she is protected by having his shell hit the impacted of the fall. So yeah, missed opportunity to have the aftermath being Raph finding himself on top of Mona (or vice versa) from holding her close to him. Raph, after realizing how they ended up, starts awkwardly panicking, blushing like a dork, frantically asking her if she's okay and trying to remove himself from the position because it's so close and personal. Meanwhile Mona is not phased and it just happy they're both safe and unharmed, all while having more reasons to be in love with her turtle bf.

There is a character I was very curious about when reading the Mirage Comics. And that is Raven Shadowheart a.k.a Radical. In the comic run, she has become an ally and friend to the Turtles. In the future, she was a love interest and soulmate to Leonardo but was unfortunately killed by Complete Carnage. Was there any chance or way that you would have brought her back for IDW or not? I would love to see more of her despite only a few short appearances in the original comics.

I love Radical! I had some ideas for her and she still might show up whenever I come back to TMNT if another writer doesn't get to her first in the meantime. Here's sketches I did of her and Complete Carnage for a mini-series pitch I haven't finished:

Random little detail I liked in TMNT 2012 is how anytime there was a flashback sequence it was in the style of like an illustrated comic book of some kind.

I imagine Donnie still shy to hug April even though they're already dating.

Ninja Turtles, Ninja Rat + Ninja Scary Guy By Juni Ba

The IDW Ninja Turtles comic has a fantastic introduction. It gives you everything you want in a TMNT story: The Turtles fight street gangs, a lot of fun banter, and a very good understanding of the character traits of each of the boys that makes them recognizable. It's the third time I reread this first issue and I just can't get enough of it!

Things That Are Canon About Raph x Mona Lisa in TMNT 2012

Raph LOVES the fact that Mona Lisa is bigger, stronger and better at fighting than him. A fact that other people like Mikey assume Raph would find unattractive is the most attractive to him. Raph’s type is strong woman who can beat his shell.

Raph has indirectly told Mona Lisa that anytime her refers to her as such, he’s calling her a beautiful work of art.

Mona Lisa wears the pants in their relationship and Raph happily accepts that.

April and Mikey shipped them.

Raph gets very excited at the idea of Mona Lisa training him and teaching him some of her fighting moves.

Mona Lisa is able to recognize Raph from just hearing his fiery temper and angry screams.

Mona Lisa can genuinely calm Raph down whenever he’s about to explode just from her touch or her words.

They wrote love letters to each other over the course of the season 4 space arc. We don’t know exactly what they wrote to each other, but whatever they said was enough for Dregg and Armaggon to figure out that they are romantically involved, so it’s safe to say the letters were flirtatious.

Mona Lisa is connected to Raph’s fighting spirit. During her betrayal Raph lost his will to fight, so heart broken he took a brutal beating from Armaggon, but when Mona confesses her love to him, his drive for battle returns.

When having his panic attack regarding his fear of bugs, Raph imagines Mona Lisa, wanting to run to her and be in the comfort of her arms. It’s safe to say that Mona Lisa is the light in his life, and brings him a sense of peace when he’s scared.

Raph talks about Mona Lisa to Chompy frequently.

Mona Lisa often gets lost in her imagination about Raph, thinking about him working out and such and being so distracted by her own thoughts that she’s unaware of her surroundings or her commander talking to her.

Mona Lisa gets genuinely flustered and kinda timid when Raph flirts with her. It catches her off guard, but she likes it.
