We left our home under the bombing, fire belts, missiles and terrifying shells in the Zeitoun area. We did not take anything with us. We left our food, belongings and clothes and left our beautiful home. We have not returned to it until now. I appeal to everyone and ask you to help me. There is nothing. We lost everything we own, our home and my husband’s only job. My husband and I suffer daily from the problem of providing food and what we will feed our children today due to its high prices. All our food depends on canned food. My children always cry😭, wanting fruits, vegetables and eggs,🍅🍏 and my young son tells me, “Mama, I want to drink milk.🥛” I do not know how to respond to them. My young children have suffered greatly from the spread of pimples that left a disfiguring effect on their bodies, like burns. Also, The shortage of gas led us to use firewood🔥, nylon and brambles for baking and cooking.
With the arrival of winter, I do not know what to do. Even the clothes in the market are very expensive. I went to buy used clothes to warm my young children.

I think most people refer to it as a "white people thing" because of the process of cultural gentrification. White people learned about veganism/vegetarianism and added it to their portfolio of philosophies and lifestyles and aesthetics that they rebrand. For many, when they think of a vegan, they picture a hipster white guy who hates anyone who eats meat and throws paint on people wearing fur coats and constantly advertises how veganism "changed my life and cured my adhd and made me rich". And that's because those types of people absolutely live for virtue signaling. They are so loud that they drown out the original cultural background of where vegetarian and vegan food comes from. And that's not to serve as an excuse for people saying veganism is "white people behavior," but an explanation for why that way of thinking is so common.
But it also probably has something to do with POC being lumped into a monolith, and unfortunately, that monolith rarely includes cultures that are POC dominated. POC are seen through the lens of a white society, not their own culture.

I am Afro-caribbean and Indian. Firstly India has the highest vegetarian population in the world, and in the Caribbean the rastafari have their whole ital movement/diet - which my Jamaican father is a massive believer in.

as a phrase, “she [x] on my [x] til’ i [x]” only is funny if on either side of a spectrum. either the phrase ends so specific to a sexual action it’s a smart joke (for example, “she strogan me off til i beef” uses the word “beef stroganoff’ but also makes a “stroking off” joke, making it clever wordplay.) or it makes so little sense that it ends up funny from the absurdity of deciphering what type of sexual action could even be taking place. (example: when my roomate the other night asked to hand them a sanpelligrino and then said “she san on my pelli til’ i grino” which begs the question of what ‘sanning’ is, what a ‘pelli’ repersents in terms of human genitalia and what ‘grinoing’ could possibly be.)
