made these studying cat genetics over the past 2 weeks!
i felt like there weren't enough visual guides of cat genetics so i went ahead and made some simple ones, my main references were Sparrow's Garden the website, Sparrow's Garden the blog, Messybeast, and The Little Carnivore.
Please only use these for general reference and not for tracing, using as a base, or reposting!! You can trace the poses for practice, but please don't post them if you do so. Please don't use them as a free Base, either.

People who like mantises but aren't that into entomology are always "orchid mantises" this and "orchid mantises" that. Overrated. Can we talk about Toxodera integrifolia for a minute:
(Image links because as much as it pains me I've never seen one of these beauties irl: 1 2 3)
Like how are these things real. Girl what is that thorax shape. Why are you wearing eyeliner. And the colors? Absolutely fire. This is a 10/10 insect if you ask me.

okay okay this whole thing comes from the fact that the purple crown is clearly rooted in Shamura's brain and it got me thinking a lil bit :3
as I said, the crowns are parasite, they look for the ideal bearer, to stick onto them for awhile until they can finaly start the process of draining the bearer's life for what you might ask, it's to be more powerful, it's to be more effecient, it's to be more influencial they are dependent on a host to survive they can telepathically comunicate to their bearer for whatever they, either to convince or encourage something as well as discourage honestly, why do you the gods limbs blacken the longer they wear their crown?
I'm still thinking about so like, it could change in the future but I like where it's going :3

I just wanted to say.. your blog makes me SO HAPPY! I don't know what it is about birds but they make me smile and go crazyyyy! I love them so much! I was wondering, since you are the bird expert, do you know any interesting green colored birds? :>
thank you!!! And yes, there's so many interesting green birds! (DID YOU KNOW: many birds APPEAR green, but their feathers are only structured that way. the only 'true' green pigment in birds is turacoverdin, found only in turacos!)
There's the Javan Green-Magpie, now sadly critically endangered
A personal favorite & common pet, the Indian Ringneck
Couldn't mention turacos without including them...this one is a White-Cheeked Turaco
Double-eyed fig parrot...love how vibrant they are
green broadbill...gotta love a bird with a snoot
the iridescent shine of the Green Pygmy-Goose!
the green pheasant...he sure is green and a pheasant
the green inca (there's lots of nice green hummingbirds, but having green in the name means he takes the cake)
And, of course, the Green Jay.

Rare images of a leafcutter bee sharing its nest with a wolfspider:
These photographs were taken in Queensland, Australia, by an amateur photographer named Laurence Sanders.
The leafcutter bee (Megachile macularis) can be seen fetching freshly-cut leaves, which she uses to line the inner walls of her nest. The wolfspider moves aside, allowing the bee to enter the nest, and then simply watches as the leaf is positioned along the inner wall.
After inspecting the nest together, they return to their resting positions -- sitting side-by-side in the entryway to the nest.
The bee seems completely at ease in the presence of the wolfspider, which is normally a voracious predator, and the spider seems equally unfazed by the fact that it shares its burrow with an enormous bee.
This arrangement is completely unheard of, and the images are a fascinating sight to behold.

I just don’t get it. How can our society act so goddamned normal about seahorses. How can anybody so casually accept that that’s a fish???
This is one of nature’s most anatomically perverse of all beasts. A FISH, like a carp or a bass or a beta is a fish, but it bent its body straight up only to bend its head permanently back down. It stretched its skull into a pipe. It tapered its tail like a lizard, specifically like a chameleon. It can also move its eyes independently by the way, you know, like a chameleon. Fun fact, it can change color to express its mood, like you know whatever does that. It doesn’t properly swim anymore. It buzzes its few remaining fins like an insect’s wings to float itself around at a snail’s pace. It lives its whole life clinging to coral branches or seaweed, which means it decided to become a “tree dweller” in an environment where gravity didn’t even matter anyway. The males get pregnant. They make noises at each other by rubbing some of their neck bones together. Every day, EVERY DAY a mated pair does a little dance and a little neck bone song so they remember which two seahorses they were. They’re a beautiful precious obscenity. Nothing so adorable ever made such a strong case against a logical creator.
They have as little skin and meat as they could get away with. Their skeleton is almost all they are.
(girl with adhd voice) yeah i just love in fiction when a character has a superpower thats also a disability. like a power that changes how they interact with the world in exciting ways but also has terrible drawbacks to their daily life. no real reason why
hi. i made some images.
feel free to take them and use for whatever you may need them for. no credit required
Did you know? This colorful bird might be one of the Dodo’s closest living relatives! Meet the Nicobar Pigeon (Caloenas nicobarica). This bird lives in forest or mangrove habitats on islands, such as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Like some other birds and reptiles, it has a gizzard stone in its stomach that helps break down tougher foods in its diet, like the hard exteriors of seeds and nuts.

btw i found out that there are actually two major types of bleeding heart doves, and that while one of them looks like it bears a wound on its chest, the other looks like the one who made it

I got an ask from someone who felt timid about drawing curlier hair and wanted some advice! This is by NO means exhaustive and is mostly just my thought process for my own stylization. There are tons of resources for drawing more textured hair, so for this I just wanted to focus on curls. hope it helps!
