In a No War AU, Azula sneaking out of the beach house on Ember Island to meet Sokka has potential.
Plot Ideas:
The teens meet at a party. Instead of Chan, Azula talks to Sokka.
After crushing it at Kuai Ball, Azula and company walk down the beach. They find Sokka building a massive sandcastle.
Azula and Sokka spend all afternoon building the best sandcastle Sand Fortress. Toph later joins in but dips halfway through. She cannot stand their "flirting."
A day later, they see each other again at a shop. Sokka buys a telescope. Azula has never used a telescope before. A plan is set in motion.
Azula sneaks out of the beach house to meet Sokka atop the volcano to stargaze. They do this for several nights in a row. They bring snacks, play games, share a kiss or two.
Ozai eventually catches Azula coming back on their final day on vacation. He does not like the hickey on her neck.

Aphrodite does canonically have a nice rack but I’ll never take ppl seriously when they give her anime girl proportions.
Ppl who say that Ares is an unproblematic feminist just reek of privilege, they don’t see war as horrific mass destruction and death, (especially back then where it included the mass rape and enslavment of women) war is a distant thing they ignore. Ppl who actually experience war or at least have surface level understanding of history and politics understand that an entity that represents war is probably not some cutie patootie just bc he doesn’t have any myths that explicitly state he assaulted women.

I’ll take this as an opportunity to talk about… a few things, while holding enough to say in the final Thank You chapter.
So, in my mind, this series WAS the definition of a snowball growing bigger and bigger. The first thought was just a one-shot, Stressed-Azula, Stress-Reliver-Sokka fic.
and it grew from there.
I was flying by the seat of my pants for the first 4 chapters, but by chapter 5-6, I had a good plan for the longer story.
My favorite chapter is between chapter 8 or 10… I think. I love all of them for different reasons.
My favorite SCENE… might have to be… a lot from chapter 8. Maybe the smut scene from chapter 8.
but I also LOVE Sokka snapping at Ozai in chapter 10… there’s a lot.
I’m working on the next chapter. It can be considered the calm before the storm in a positive way.

I've always loved the idea that Azula was friends with a servant that's her age that lives around/works in the palace.
I've got no reason to believe this or anything to substantiate it, I just like it a lot

The Moon Spirit (Yue)
Yue gets her glow-up (it's a bad joke I know XD), and becomes the moon spirit. I followed the show's lead on the shape and fabric change for Yue's transformation. I looked at some of the famous illustrations of Chinese Fairy Maidens/Deities (which take the Tang Dynasty style fashion and extra draping and exaggerate it into a mythical lady) and added back in shapes, motifs and textures from Yue's previous design.

Princess Yue of the Northern Water Tribe
Finally in the Northern Water Tribe at the end of Book 1! We meet the wonderful Princess Yue and shenanigans ensue. I wanted the Northern and Southern Water Tribes to have related yet distinct tastes in fashion. Yue is still wearing a fantasy combination of Inuit/Yakut/Mongolian clothing but with a little bit of Great Plains Indigenous Regalia. Oh and her very important hair reference to Chinese "fairy maidens" (It's a Tang* Dynasty hairstyle associated with minor deities).
