She's not gonna appear in HotD season 1 so I thought I'd give designing her a go!

So y’all have seen multiple posts on aot (attack on Titan/ shingeki no kyojin) is trash. Or more precisely the mangaka is a reactionary. This work reflects his terrible ideas and is a prime example why you can’t “separate the art from the artist”. This particular clip encapsulates so much wrong with his work. And I also want to say other reactionary shitheads are emboldened by his work.

I initially saw this off of twitter and the amount of white people just lapping this shit up. And so there are people who are way more knowledgeable about this topic than I. But in short during the 30s and 40s the Japanese army multiple war crimes (mass rape torture and murder) on civilians from South Korea, China and from various pacific islands etc.*. Two prominent events was the Rape or Massacre of Nanjing which was one of many horrible mass murder and rapes against the people of Nanjing, China. During the course of 6 weeks approximately between 50,000 to 300,000 people were killed by the Japanese army during the second Sino-Japanese war. During WW2 invading Japanese soldiers forced girls and young women from various occupied countries into brothels. They are referred as “comfort women”, and many faced forced sterilization and torture from the soldiers. There are few survivors left and the Japanese government still refuses to acknowledge its many war crimes. Which particular sin is this clip refering, I don’t know. But considering this mangaka has made really horrible comments about Koreans and literally based a charecter on an Imperial General that’s conscerning.

To all Eren stans out there I introduce you to Wazukyan; "the man who becomes a devil to save his people and/or friends". He has similar abilities and a domestic form symbolize his paradoxical nature EXCEPT no Draco in Leather Pants narrative, he's not good looking, he's not involved with a woman, his actions wasn't excused by every single character, he faced consequences.

And more importantly, he's consistent and knows what he's doing. He didn't kill his own mother and 80% of humanity while doesn't understand why.

Anyways, I actually really like how this came out, especially for how much time I had (a week) and how little experience i have with this program :0

THE NEW SC UNIFORM DESIGN

So many things to like about the new uniform tbh. Some elements of the new uniform we’ve already seen in the anti-3DMG gear along with the thunder spears but i’m gonna bring it up so it’s all here.

(gonna merge points about function and form together bc there’s overlap)

Reduced number of layers for the wearer (the old uniform had like 3 layers)

Less bulky gear (remember how big the sword sheathes were in the old 3DMG?)

Less layers + lighter bulk = more aerodynamic and better mobility

You can travel faster and easier with less bulk

A breastplate (?) to protect the wearer from being shot at, now you have an extra shell layer to keep you safe

The harness looks like it has more belts around the torso area (which is great, because now more of the gear is situated on the back and you’d probably need support there)

BETTER KNEE SUPPORT THAN THE OLD UNIFORM’S BOOTS WITH STRINGS FLAPPING AROUND

Form-fitting so it doesn’t cause air resistance but also makes the wearer LOOK BADASS

Monochrome for the win (at least for now); loving the modern style or at least what’s considered as modern in our world

The white pants days are over (now no more prominent blood stains yay)

The sheaths for the new gear run parallel to the wearer’s legs (the old gear had sheaths that were situated perpendicularly instead)

(the angles aren’t 100% parallel/perpendicular bc depends on movement)

Now, if you fall wearing the near gear, it’ll (probably) be less painful compared to the old gear because of the reduced bulk

Glad they kept the original harness design for the most part because you still have ankle support

Grips for the guns!!! So your enemies can’t knock it out of your hands

Two notches on the forearm to hold the thunder spears (if you have any more on the arm you can’t bend your elbow)

Also some side notes:

Good thing the SC isn’t fighting in hot climate since wearing dark colors head to toe will make you sweat a lot

It looks the gas compartment is on the shoulders instead of the back

I can’t tell where the top/pants/shoes end how are you supposed to put it on

I wonder what material the uniform is made out of? I think Isayama said the old uniform is made of linens (and leather?) so it won’t absorb moisture well. Does the new material absorb moisture?

Still don’t know what this T-wire thing is for?

Maybe also like a light massage as well just to help relieve stress? Armin cleaned up the little scratches on your arms and was now cleaning and dressing the largest and deepest wound on your upper thigh.

He did this all in complete silence, not even looking up at you once.

The atomosphere was tense.

It was safe to say he was upset with you and your reckless actions that he's told you over and over to drop and replace with caution and thought.

You knew he was beyond mad but he still took care of you with gentle and attentive touches.

"Armin..." You called for him quietly.

He paused for a half a second upon hearing your voice but continued to clean your cut not even looking at you.

"Are you mad at me?" Stupid question. You both knew the answer.

The silence continued and he started to wrap the white gauze around your thigh.

"Armin, I'm sorry... Can you at least look at me?"

The whole time he could still feel your unwavering gaze on him and your pleads wre enough to make his heart sad.

There was a reason why he wasn't looking at you because he knew if he did he would give into you. Right now you needed to learn a lesson.

Armin suddenly spoke making your heart flutter.

"I don't ask much from you, (Name).. But what I do ask is that you be more careful when we're on missions and you're facing immense danger. I love you and how much of a free spirit you are, that's why I fell in love with you. You give me hope. But, with that free spirit comes with rash and reckless decisions. I don't think you understand just how afraid I am of losing you, I can't.. I just can't. We have to get out of here and find a better life and I can't do that without you."

Armin's voice was confident and unwavering but it very soft.

You looked down at your hands and played with your thumbs: you felt bad.

"Hey," Armin picked up your chin with his knuckle. Your (color) eyes met his big blue ones. "Just promise me you'll be more careful, that's all I want from you."

You nodded quickly. "I promise!"

Armin smiled at your cuteness and caressed your cheek with his thumb.

"I'll hold you to that promise."

The Death of Erwin, Who Lived for His Dream

After losing his friend within an equal relationship, Levi will…?

- Erwin losing his life at the Battle at Shiganshina - that was quite a shocking development. Isayama: To have Erwin perish during that point was pre-planned. I always wanted to portray Levi and Erwin as having an equal relationship. Erwin bears an innocent motivation to “seek the truth” and a need for atonement, since his actions had led to his father’s death. He joined the Survey Corps due to these two reasons. Then little by little, he ended up in the position of leading this group, while he himself wavered between the roles of “a child who chased his dream” and “an adult who carried responsibilities.” In order to affirm his self-identity, he fabricated the false ambition of fighting “For humanity’s future,” and he continued to fool himself.

- A man viewed as someone who “abandoned his humanity” actually never abandoned his own dream and purpose for living. It’s truly astonishing. Isayama: This is the same for Levi. The reason Levi always operates alongside Erwin is because he interpreted Erwin’s “For Humanity’s Future” as an altruistic intention that Levi never considered himself, so Levi ends up adopting it as his own life’s mission. Hence, Levi also requested for Erwin to become a man who is “loyal to the mission” and “can make composed decisions.” When he discovers that Erwin actually has a selfish goal like his “dream,” it can be said that he felt betrayed. However, he also recognizes that this person whom he cannot hope to surpass actually has “an innocent, childlike side that chases dreams.”

Eren’s reason to “live” and “fight” was always “taking his freedom back/revenge” but he proved multiple times that he cherish his loved once more than his own freedom (sacrificing himself for armin , keeping silent to protect historia..etc).

So is it freedom that keeps him struggling? Yup. But not “his” freedom. He knows he will die in 4 years , his freedom is already out of reach but when it comes to historia and/or his possible child ..there is still a chance to save both or at least one of them.

To me , it has been clear he attacked Marley as his “other option” to save historia/her child. Some claimed his friends were the trigger but they were chilling around for years and they don’t need to be saved. In fact they were safer before.

I know most people ignore context. But Isayama made it clear that in the past 4 years Eren’s priority was saving Historia from the 13-years curse. Whether you like or not , it wasn’t “his freedom” or his “friends” rather Historia’s safety and future.

> In ch90 we saw a very depressed Eren due to the great power of Marley (Official interview). He asked if he killed them , would he finally be free?

The answer is no. Eren is dying in few years , just like Reiner said. There is nothing left for him in this world and he doesn’t need to suffer for his freedom anymore.

But

> In ch106 we finally knew what eren was thinking all along ; The only hope for paradise is rumbling the world , thousands of titan will flatten their enemies territories. Now we know what he meant by “killing all his enemies” in ch90 , it’s impossible to kill all his enemies without using wall titans but the mere fact of sacrificing historia stopped him from doing that.

> chapter 107 proved this again. He stood up and rejected Zeke’s plan as it contained sacrificing historia and her children / no freedom is obtained from this plan. Just “peace” at the cost of Historia’s freedom and life.

> ch108. Eren was in complete denial. They didn’t find another option and Historia will be sacrificed for sure if he didn’t do something.

> ch110 - ch115 (FB) Eren arranged a meeting with Yellena , pretending he is okay with whatever his brother wants but he needed to tell him in person. after realizing the military couldn’t do anything , he started making his own decisions as a way to find another option (ch107 when he yelled at hange if she has a better idea or if she can do anything at all , he then yelled if there was another option she should tell him. Another option for what? If he meant saving paradise/his friends.. there is definitely another option ; the 50 years plan. And don’t forget , eren was trying to find another option to save historia , not his friends"

All this seals the deal for me. He attached Marley to save either Historia or her/his child (the new generation in general). He also deceived zeke for a reason , I am not sure yet but I have three ideas ;

1- Hollow’s theory.

2- To save a friend a.k.a historia.

3- to save his child and his wife.

Well all three options is based on the father theory anyway (lol).

It bugs me when people claim he is fighting for the same boring reasons ; freedom , friends. Eek , no? Not to mention historia IS a friend too , a close friend to him . Why should he fight for mikasa and armin when Historia is the one at danger? Why fighting for mikasa/armin means he is fighting for his “friends” but fighting for Historia will destroy the story? Seriously fuck off.

I am tired of this fandom and fucking tWitTeR. They ignore context and want eren to pull a lelouch (or whatever his name is) even though Eren found the idea stupid / ridiculous. Just because they don’t like the idea of him acting selfishly (Isayama proved Eren abandoned the mentality “everything should be as my comrades want” and started to think everything should be done for his own good/ doing what he wants). He is selfishly selfless if that makes any sense.

Just a final word ; if you believe Eren is deceiving zeke and he is doing that for his friends not historia then I advice you to reread the last 10 chapters again and stop being hypocritical.

How do i love it when eren is

Comforting her.

Worrying about her

Apologizing to her

Accepting her

Cheering her up

Assuring her safety before his own

Telling her to consider stop doing things that might get her in trouble

Defending her choice

Braising her

Worrying about her life

Sharing her happiness

“Do you no longer care about  historia?”

This scene is underrated, especially for Eren’s character. We don’t often see this side of him but -for some reasons- we always see him behave this way with historia.

You know , if anyone yelled in the past “let’s go save someone who sided with the enemy” he would’ve headbutted , screamed and physically tried to persuade them not to for valuing bs over humanity. But because it’s Historia and since he lost so many people recently it’s understandable why he toned his aggressive behavior and tried to calm her down without being a jerk. Keep in mind Mikasa was injured , Erwin lost conscious , everyone is kinda exhausted. There was definitely no time to comfort some midget.

The thing is that he managed to get through her head and understand why she is behaving this way. He probably felt the same when Reiner/Bert betrayed him ; unable to tell if these two ever cared or not. He , for one , got his answer when bert told him “he felt kinda sorry lol” and “Reiner has spilt personality” but historia didn’t have the chance to. Ymir just left and she thought it’s because Ymir didn’t care about her ; a traitor she would never forgive. So Eren did his best to assure her ymir cared a lot.

Historia shifted the blame on herself afterward - “because she is not wanted/unneeded even Ymir abandoned her.”

Anyway , I really like the wall scene. Historia’s breakdown was so important for her character and Eren’s/Historia’s scene was heartwarming.

Kruger's words aren't just addressed to Grisha, but also to Eren. Adding Mikasa and Armin in his sentence is the evidence for it. In conclusion Kruger talks to Eren.

In order that the same mistakes not repeat again, he needs to find someone to love and make a family.

Meanwhile in the manga :))

Historia doesn't say boyfriend. It means both boy and girlfriend. No gender. I know it's easier reblogging and believing everything people post in the internet. But you should research some things before spreading false information.

It would be romantic if Isayama would show us (I wish) a scene, more like a flashback in which Eren takes Historia to the sea. I really want to see the Queen's reaction XD. As well as Eren's, if he were to see Historia's pretty face while looking at the ocean. Then somewhere along the line, she tells him how beautiful the ocean is, then Eren *looking fondly at Historia* replies, "yes it is.." but keeps on staring at her.. OMG XD any thoughts about this??

Awww that's cute. I can totally see her saying "too bad I didn't get to see the ocean with you (the scouts)" then Eren replays with "that's easy , let's go together next time" with a smile.

Though he is not interested in the ocean but as long as she feels happy it doesn't matter.

What made you like eren and historia so much and what do you think about their relationship and deep connections together when ymir left and the timeskips (in the manga + anime). Also do you ship them if so why (to me I ship them so much in my heart).

I love Eren's character because of how much he had to endure in his life. Between his hero complex and the burden of being a shounen protagonist who has to act heroic and "pure" all the time , he failed at doing both. And eventually Eren surpassed this trope. How often you see the main character - defined as a hot headed whose driving force is revenge- letting go of that revenge? Or not being driven by "nakama power"? Not everyday I see a protagonist with no black and white personality. This is why I love him.

As for historia , tbh I didn't give a damn about her until uprising arc. It's true she had screen time in COT arc but she was just acting like krista around Ymir. A Naive girl who follows someone else to fill the hole in her heart. Became completely dependant on Ymir to the point she "doesn't care about ymir's reasoning or secrets" but she will follow her blindly regardless. These type of characters are my least favorite ones so I just pretended she didn't exist. Then her character developed into something beyond ymir. She became independent and made her own choices. That emptiness in her heart is gone when she found a new reason to live unlike how she was during COT arc ; her choices and goals , personality and driving force all depended on Ymir's character but not anymore.

She is done being courageous as long as someone else is with her , she is not afraid now because she is being herself. Her development is what made me love her so much and the more I dig in her character the more I love her.

Their bond is one of the strongest bonds in the series. To me , relationships which form during the story progression are the deepest ones. You see , she is not a family or a childhood friend but they both managed to understand each other more than anyone else. I mentioned Historia didn't care about Ymir's reasoning and this caused a gape in their feelings. Historia didn't get to understand why ymir acted that way until she read the letter. Not to mention both of them put a facade to be with each other (Historia pretending she would stop living for other's sake or protect them , ymir pretending she is selfish who doesn't give shit about anyone. Even historia got the wrong impression on ymir that when the latter protects her she gets pissed and yell at her to act selfishly because ymir is selfish right?).

This "pretending" didn't end up well for historia. And here Erehisu bond came to the play. Their bond is the exact opposite of the one she had with ymir. It was build up on understanding more than anything else. They both helped each others when their "masks" fell down during the table scene and the cave scene.

Let's just say this ship is my favorite type of ships.

Note : before anyone come after me I didn't mean "historia only cared about ymir as krista. It's just non of them needed to pretend for them to stay by each other side. Ymir shouldn't have denied why she joined the military and historia shouldn't have acted as a selfish girl and lecture ymir to stop protecting her while sacrificing herself for ymir which didn't add up. This is what I meant when I said she was more of a krista than historia because the latter is not afraid or ashamed of her true self (ch70) but krista adopted Ymir's ideology just to be with her , too terrified of being left behind to behave the way she truly feel.
