when you find an academic source that’s perfect for your paper but it’s behind a pay wall
@ everyone who told me taking 8 classes was a bad idea back in the spring: you can say I told you so now, I regret everything
in light of recent events as well as a new rise in creating nazi ocs I think this post is an important one to have on your blog if you stand behind your jewish followers or are jewish yourself.
So after sexuality construction, it has been determined that girls are pretty and I like them so I'm gonna think over my life now and realize how many times I've liked a girl and now will never see them again
hi yes I fully understand I've been quiet like I always am but I wanted to wish any aces who come across this a happy asexual awareness week 2019
So, I'm a huge reader and read a ton of books. I have a book that I adore reading and have read more times than I care to admit. The book's name is Eliza and her Monsters, by Francesca Zappia, so I highly recommend whoever happens upon this post reads it.
I would like to note that I have 0 (zero) control over my impulses and I can and will out myself if you tell me to do anything straight, cause I can't.
I would like to make a note that dragons are just babies and they won't hurt you! Go ahead and pet one! They just wanna be friends!
Increasingly important be careful on the internet

I did pretty much all of the sewing. You're welcome.
hey so, uh, the gang and i made a long furby and i think everyone (all 8 of you and i hope teya) should enjoy them. their name is “furbus longus breadus stickus” and their nickname is “breadstick” and the other foot has still yet to be sewn on lol

also i am begging for teya to see this so @strange-aeons
Both my brother and mom have a gluten intolerance (not quite Celiac, but not fun in the slightest), and my brother had a friend with Celiac, and I desperately hope that someone never deliberately messes with their food. I'm not entirely sure if someone has before, but I would be pissed if someone did. I'm not the nicest person, I'll admit that, but I would never give either my mom or brother gluten on purpose. Yes, I'll yell at them for changing my music or even suggesting to play something else while I'm working, but no matter how annoyed I am, I am not that bad of a person. I respect people's food choices, mostly because I know people have allergies to food. A couple of my friends are lactose intolerant too, and even my sister has an allergy to red dye, like she has had trouble breathing after ingesting red dye. It's not awful most of the time, but it scared my mom when it happened, so whoever thinks it's a good idea to give people who specifically asked for something to not be in their food should not be working in the food industry. I, luckily, don't have any known food allergies, only those seasonal allergies that are a complete bitch. But yeah. Don't mess with people's food.
DO NOT DO THIS.
This makes me so angry.
If you work in a movie theater and you do this I have no respect for you.
My younger brother is Type 1 Diabetic.
When we go to a movie theater, we always get him diet soda. If he were to get regular when we asked for diet, we would not give him the insulin he would need for it. If that happens, his blood sugar level could go so high he could go into a coma, go blind, or even die.
If somebody gave him regular soda instead of diet without telling us, that person could be responsible for a nine-year-old being killed or blinded.
Just thinking about that makes me so angry. I get scared every time we take him to a movie in case the people working there saw this picture and decide to do the same thing.
Please signal boost this so people know.
I’m trying to prove to my parents that I didn’t just “make up” a gender, and that we exist.

Okay, kicking off the Pride month rec-party by starting at the beginning of the alphabet and getting some (much needed) Asexual and Aromantic Umbrella Recs up!
The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee (Book #2 in the Montague Siblings duology) Sassy Summary: Local AroAce who is much more interested in medical procedures than romance finds herself caught up in an adventure with a bisexual Muslim pirate and an aspiring naturalist running from an arranged marriage with her large dog. Sequel to The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, which does feature the AroAce character Felicity in a major role as well.
Rep: Main character is asexual and aromantic and expresses this as explicitly as she can with her historical setting. Secondary lead is a bisexual Muslim lady. And there’s a background pairing (from the first novel) of a bisexual guy and his biracial boyfriend.
The Wrong Stars by Tim Pratt (Book #1 of the Axiom trilogy)
Sassy Summary: Mass Effect Queer Edition. This space opera balances wise-cracking characters with fast-paced action scenes and never gets too heavy or super serious on you.
Rep: Amongst the cast representation you have Janice who is asexual (in the text, not just hinted), a non-binary crew member with they/them pronouns, two bisexuals (one who later self-identifies as demisexual), and near the end you find out another character is a transwoman just casually. The author himself has also identified as being on the asexual spectrum, making this #ownvoices
We Awaken by Calista Lynn
Sassy Summary: Asexuality: The Novel. This story explores asexuality, what it means to be asexual and romance with asexuality all with a nice paranormal fantasy flavoring to push the plot along.
Rep: Not one, but TWO asexual main characters! Asexual Homoromantic with F/F romance that is also interracial. And this is an #ownvoices title.
The rest of the list:
Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee (Asexual Heteroromantic)
Beneath the Citadel by Destiny Soria (Asexual Aromantic)
This Song is (Not) For You by Laura Nowlin (Asexual, Polyromantic)
Radio Silence by Alice Oseman (Demisexual)
Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp (Asexual Aromantic)
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand (Asexual)
Vicious and Vengeful by V.E. Schwab (Asexual)
That’s Not What Happened by Kody Keplinger (Asexual Heteroromantic)
Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann (Asexual Biromantic, Demisexual
The Lost Coast by Amy Rose Capetta (Gray-Asexual Gray-Aromantic)
Hullmetal Girls by Emily Skrutskie (Asexual Aromantic)
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan Maguire (Asexual Heteroromantic)
Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland (Asexual Demiromantic)
This is important. Straws make up less than one percent of plastic. They don't even make up .1% of the plastic. If you don't need a straw, great, don't use one, but don't prevent those who need them from using them. Find a bigger problem than straws. Here's an article about it that I found.
being aware of the impact of things we can often not think about (like straws) is important if we’re to make strides on environmental preservation
that does not eclipse the importance of being aware of how it impacts disabled people. they’re both conversations we need to have
People seemed to like my bi/pan post so I decided to make a similar thing for asexuality! Please know that this is based on my own experiences within the community and I can’t speak for all aces. However I hope this can be a good starter for people to understand. A lot of ace stuff on here is heated arguments and I wanted to get away from that and provide a resource so people can learn without having to wade through the Discourse.
💖
Please note, I intentionally did not include anything about the “is ace queer” debate because it warrants a whole separate post and I want this to be accessible to anybody willing to learn, despite my personal feelings on that topic. Please do not bring your ace/queer debate onto this post, it is not the place. Thank you!!
Also for my last graphic, people re-posted to other social media and translated it into different languages and I’m totally fine w that! I would love if you keep the bottom credit and let me know if you do this. 😊
Plain text under the cut.

So proud of my mother for doing her own research after I sent her that meme. A sign she hung in her car window.
This is something I needed to hear really badly.
“but sex is what makes us human!”
in 1916 a French officer in his twenties writes his
doctoral dissertation under
heavy mortar fire.
he sends it by mail, a page
at a time, to his wife.
a week before he’s to step up to the podium and
defend his work rather than his country
he is killed in action.
even as the bullets rip
through him he still wishes he could have become a professor
in French literature and
the university awards him a posthumous Ph.D.
sex is
a woman breaks down in tears on the phone because
a week is not enough time to
get over a breakup.
her sister drives an hour across town,
comes up the front steps with
a gallon of ice cream and some beer
and together they eat moose tracks and marathon
every
single
Godzilla movie
ever made.
sex is
she’s late for work but her car isn’t
starting and even through her coat and hat she’s cold.
she knows she can’t be late again because she’s missed
one time too many already because her
father’s nurse was sick with the flu and someone
needed to help him bathe.
the clock ticks past fifteen after and she hits
the wheel like it’s a heavy bag as though that will help
steps on the gas like the car will go
and wonders how she will pay rent
and how she will feed her father.
sex is
it takes three people to hold the predator down because
even with the cover over his head
a bleeding eye and shattered wing
he is trying to hurt them.
none of them have seen this bird before in their lives but
they bandage his wing and head and give him a painkiller and
put him in a warm place to sleep and heal because
it is right.
at first he is paralyzed and cannot
fly but soon he is taking steps
and then fluttering, and then soaring, and
six months later he is whole and healed and hunting.
once he is gone they never see him again
which means they’ve done their jobs right.
sex is
in 1969 a girl watches grey-and-white footage on her parents’ tiny television and
can’t quite believe that what she is seeing is not a movie set but
another planet.
the men on the screen look a little like
aliens with bulbous heads and no faces and fat
marshmallow arms
but they are still men.
her mother puffs on a cigarette behind her and declares that
this is progress
even if it was just a small step.
the girl grows up to be not an astronaut but a secretary
and her boss calls her ‘sweetheart’.
but sex is
a boy is taught that real men don’t cry so
he doesn’t.
when his best friend dies from a self-inflicted
gunshot wound, he locks himself
in the shower every day and sobs under scalding
water until it runs cold
so nobody will see him grieving
so nobody will see that tears are just love that
has no place left to go.
he learns to dull love rather than suppress its expression and
soon the owner of the liquor store knows him by name.
three DUIs, two evictions, and twelve steps later,
he is feeding people at a homeless shelter,
and telling them it’s all right to cry.
Sex is
the broken man tells the comedian
that he didn’t mean to step in front of the car but the rain
made it hard to see.
he seems okay but his leg
does not.
the comedian clutches a grubby receipt with the driver’s
plate number scrawled on the back
in pink pen, stands out in the rain so the broken man
can have his umbrella,
and gives him the comedy routine that ruined his career
so the man doesn’t think about the pain in his leg.
once he’s out of the hospital, the fixed man sends him a thank-you card
with kittens on it.
what makes us human
yawning is contagious,
and there is a species of bird whose young we call “pufflings”.
melodic collections of sound, spaced by silence,
can move us to tears.
the tallest building in the world is
two-thousand seven-hundred and seventeen feet tall.
in less than eighty years we went from our first powered flight
to touching the moon,
and in one-hundred from the first phone call
to instantaneous connection between thinking machines of our own creation.
we make pies out of tree organs
and let cow’s milk ferment until it hardens and then
we put them together, because apple pie with cheddar cheese isdelicious.
what makes us human is
the earliestfossils of anatomically modern humans are
two-hundred thousand years old .
we have had pet dogs
for sixteen-thousand of those years, longer
than corn
or the wheel.
the steps we take are part of
one of the most energy-efficient gaits the
animal kingdom has ever seen.
we invented the concepts of love
and hate
and justice, and mercy
and we invented the language to convey them.
we sharpened rocks, then metal, to convince other people
who don’t hold the same idea of those things as we do
because we think
it’s right.
we are two hundred millennia of love and disappointment and
sorrow and innovation and
mercy and kindness and dreams
and failure
and recovery.
“but sex is what makes us human.”

This almost made me cry and for once that is okay.
So, me being nonbinary myself and having almost cried during this, I thought it good to share it with you all. Because this video has such an incredibly important message for us all and it deserves to be spread and watched. It’s honestly just so worth it.
Pride month is here, and I just want to say that everyone here is amazing and for my fellow LGBTQ+ folk to enjoy pride month, closeted or not.
thanks for coming to my ted talk.
