General Lore (True for both AU’s)

Who wants me to do a Young Logan AU? So far, this is what my brain has dredged up:

16 year old Logan shows up the way he does in the 1st X-men movie, but without Rougue (this is still up in the air). It's probably more like a X-Men Evolution setting, but still, the X-Men movie meeting is feasible. This WILL be a Short King Wolverine (as all my Wolverines are), but him and Sabretooth are NOT related in this AU thank you very Little.

I'm probably not going to focus on Sabretooth a crazy amount, but this is Important for Lore reasons. So!

Basic turn of events:

Logan is 8 when his powers manifest (poor baby), everyone dies, he runs away and spends three years in the wilderness running around the borders of the US and Canada. Then he gets temporarily fostered by a nice family that he runs from after they realize he's a mutant, and is finally ""recruited """ to the Weapon X project. He meets Sabretooth there.

In this au, Sabretooth is 1 year older. He's 10 when he Loses His Mind on his POS father and also spends years in the wilderness! Joins around half a year before Logan. They become best buds, but Wolverine is firm on what he believes in and is essentally Sabretooth's Moral Compass. Not that they always follow it, the boys are Feral after all. So when 'soft little Lgan' is selected to undergo the Adimantium process, Sabretooth goes a little bonkers. He's the fav, the best at taking orders, taller, and they pick the runt?!

The process is actually (accidentally) interrupted by Sabretooth in this universe, also similar to the X-men movies, with Wolverine hearing his voice and the conversation he and Stryker have. He busts out and spends two more years in the wilderness before finally being captured by meeting up with the X-Men.

Also, the reason Logan is so short in this universe is explained pretty simply: He was in the middle of puberlty when it was put on him. This also means he is a little lither than he is when he gets older, and I am keeping his OG kitty hair.

As for the X-Men themselves, I am debating if I want to make this a Reverse AU, where all of the X-Mmen are full adults and he's one of the only kids, or if I want them to be in highschool with him. (The high school thing comes with its own set of questions such as: do I want the X-Men to be older or younger or his age? Which X-Men do I want to be hanging out with him? Etc etc. All problems for a later date.)

First few minutes in, snufkin and moomin share a room what the what. Ohmygod they were roomates

Thinking about that part in the Moomin series where after getting transformed by the magic top-hat Moomin has to convince everyone that it's actually him.

Specifically the version from the 90s anime where he's crying and sobbing to his mother, who treats him with tenderness as she searches the supposed stranger's eyes, as if trying to find Moomin's very essence within this new monstrous form. And Moomin's getting really desperate because the long silence makes him think nobody believes him and he's ready to break down completely and give up knowing he's stuck in this new body.

Until Moominmama determines that yes, this is her darling child, and through the power of a mother's love he is transformed into his former self. Her love is what allows everyone else in the room to see that this is the same Moomin they've always known and loved.

Like, I know that entire novel and its subsequent adaptations are one big queer allegory, but that part really fucking hit hard for me as someone with a very tenuous relationship with their own mother. When I come out to her, will she be blinded by her ignorance and distaste for "alternative lifestyles" and antagonize me? Or will she too be able to see in my eyes that I am the same child she has always loved and that she will continue to love in this odd new form?

I could go on and on about why all that AI "art" is bad. I could mention theft, lack of creativity, it's impact on the work field and environment, but countless people have already said all that. I wanted to touch on something that to me is the most utterly wrong about all of it.

Art is more than just something pretty to look at or listen to. It's therapeutic. It's a form of communication. A tool for human connection. It's a pure, human need.

I come from a culture that has no nudity taboo - nudity is not considered inherently sexual, or somehow traumatising to witness. What that means in practice is that there is a clearly drawn line between sexual and non-sexual nudity. There is nothing wrong or inappropriate about nudity in a sexual context, and nothing wrong or inappropriate about nudity in a non-sexual context. However, it is 100% inappropriate to be nude in a situation where it is not obvious from context whether this is sexual or not.

I've seen random kids who briefly escaped from their parents bolt across a public park buck-ass naked after they were playing in the water fountain and their parents were in the middle of changing their kid from wet clothes to dry clothes when the small nudist escaped. Changing your small kid's clothes right there in public is ok because there is obviously nothing sexual about a child whose clothes got wet. But although people will have baby pictures of their kids in the bath or just running around the house like that because sometimes little apes hate clothes for some reason, it's considered common sense to not share those pictures on facebook mom groups and such, because you have no way of knowing who's seeing them, and that blurs the line of context.

It all boils down to the clearly defined context. Bathing nude in the same sauna with five of your co-workers at the office christmas party? Clearly nonsexual, therefore completely fine. Your friend-with-benefits inviting you to come over and opening the door in nothing but a doggy collar and the most porn-scented perfume? Clearly sexual, therefore completely fine. A woman checking her breasts for lumps in the gym lockers just before or after a shower? Clearly non-sexual, therefore completely fine.

But if you went to the bank today and there's some guy who walks in and immediately strips naked, doing his banking business wearing nothing but a deep smile and being clearly very content with this situation, you have no way of telling whether he's getting kicks out of this or not. There is no contextual reason for him to be nude. Therefore, that is inappropriate.

Then you go home and post on tumblr - as one does - going like "there was some dude completely fucking buck-ass naked in the bank today. That was fucking weird and I wish he had not done that." And someone immediately swoops into inform you that actually nudity is not inherently sexual or inappropriate, and there are cultures out there that have no nudity taboo. It's not fair to call somebody a freak for something like that, maybe that guy was just finnish.
