Help a Palestinian college student rebuild his home!

As you know, I and my mutuals frequently post about Siraj @/siraj2024, who is trying to rebuild his home in Gaza. We stress that rebuilding in Gaza and resisting ethnic cleansing is just as important as evacuating to safety. One of the things we are all fighting for is for Palestinians to have the right to return to their homes. With that, I have another campaign I'd like to bring to your attention.

Mahmoud Hamam (@ma7moudgaza2) is a web designer and college student. He and his family have been displaced by the IOF several times and now live in a tent in al-Mawasi, Khan Yunis. He cannot stay there much longer.

Here's what studying is like for him now:

Help A Palestinian College Student Rebuild His Home!

Due to the recent massacres there, he has been unable to come online. He also had his previous account terminated by Tumblr, in an act of genocidal censorship. This is why we must help him.

He is only at $2,238 of $25,000, and he has been campaigning for a month as of right now. He has a long way to go but I beliveve it is possible to get him to his goal soon! We have seen people raise this amount in record time, I really do believe in all of us.

Despite all he has endured, he has not given up hope. Lets help him rebuild.

I am Mahmoud Hamam from Gaza, in the midst of destruction and bombing. I am writing to you that our morale is still high and that determination is present. After all the harsh circumstances we have been through, horrific events, but they will not destroy us, but rather they will make us stronger..

Captain Who Rescued Migrants At Sea Refuses Paris Medal, Calling It Hypocritical
"Your police [steal] blankets from people that you force to live on the streets, while you raid protests and criminalize people that are standing up for rights of migrants," said Pia Klemp.

“The captain of a controversial ship that saved migrants in the Mediterranean Sea has refused to accept a medal for her work.

Pia Klemp, who is German, gained attention for rescuing thousands of stranded migrants with her crew as part of the nongovernmental organization Sea Watch International. For her efforts, she reportedly faces up to 20 years in prison in Italy, where the hard-line anti-immigrant government accused her of assisting illegal immigration.

In a Facebook message published Tuesday night, Klemp announced that she was rejecting the Grand Vermeil Medal, which the city of Paris awards for bravery. She told Mayor Anne Hidalgo that the city was brimming with hypocrisy.

“Your police [steal] blankets from people that you force to live on the streets, while you raid protests and criminalize people that are standing up for rights of migrants and asylum seekers. … You want to give me a medal for actions that you fight in your own ramparts,” Klemp wrote in the scathing post.

“It is time we call out hypocrite honorings and fill the void with social justice,” she said.

She went on to say that people don’t need medals. “We do not need authorities deciding about who is a ‘hero’ and who is ‘illegal,’ ” she said. “In fact they are in no position to make this call, because we are all equal.”

they'll fund a genocide and let their poor regions be destroyed. don't fucking forgive them for that.

my hometown is completely gone from what pictures i can find of it, i have not heard from my family (including aunts, uncles, parents, one sibling, and a grandparent), and the infrastructure in the mountain communities is wiped out. i cannot stress how catastrophic this is, or how difficult it will be for these communities to build back. i am angry, and scared, and heartbroken by everything that's happened.

and our government is spending it's money to fund a genocide.

free palestine, and don't be complicit. realize that this is not something happening that doesn't affect you--although it shouldn't take this to care about the deaths of thousands of people anyway.

Hello generous people of the world💫❤️,

My name is Akram. I am a Former high school student (Tawjihi), born and raised in Gaza, Palestine.

Hello Generous People Of The World💫❤️,
Hello Generous People Of The World💫❤️,

Me and My family have been trapped in the genocide for the last year.

Living in Gaza is a daily struggle for survival. It's not just the challenge of waking up each day wondering whether my family and I will make it through another round of airstrikes, but the deeper worry of whether we will ever have a future beyond this war zone.

As a young person, Education is my greatest hope-a way to rise above the circumstances I was born into, to build a life of purpose, and to help my family escape the horrors of ongoing violence and potential genocide.

But here, in Gaza, education feels like a dream slipping further away each day.

The schools and universities have all been destroyed, and I fear staying here will mean losing the chance for an education as well as the lives of those I love.

It's a constant fear that gnaws at me.

Opportunities are few, and the constant threat of escalating violence makes even planning for the future feel futile.

This is why I am asking for your help:

I want to raise funds to escape this cycle of despair and pursue an education abroad, where I can study in peace, grow, and contribute to a better world. I dream of learning in a place where I don't have to worry if my school will be bombed or if I will

make it home safely.

With your support, I can relocate with my family to a place where we are no longer seen as targets but as people with hopes, dreams, and the potential to contribute

meaningfully to society.

This fundraiser is not just for my education; it's a lifeline for my family and me. I want to study fields like international relations or humanitarian work, so I can return one day and help others in situations like mine, advocating for peace and justice in a region torn apart by violence.

Please help me break free from this cycle of violence. Your support can make all the difference-giving me the opportunity to survive, to learn, and to fight for a future that so many of us here are desperately trying to grasp.

Thank you for your time and generosity.

Veganism will not help the rainforest.

I’m not one of those nihilistic “there’s NOTHING us consumers can do!!!” people nor am I one of those anti-vegan bacon cultists but I’m seeing a lot of discourse about this and people on both sides need to be aware of something:

The beef industry is only the leader in Amazon deforestation because it is the highest bidder right now. For half a decade that was exceeded by soy production and in Indonesia the biggest rainforest killer is palm oil. Rainforest land that isn’t sold directly for some kind of food production gets cut down anyway because they still sell the timber and then the land is auctioned away to whoever will take it, even if it’s practically pennies, because the people holding that land have made a profit either way and a corporation that buys it for cheap is almost guaranteed to get some kind of use out of it or find someone else who wants it. Changing your diet will do absolutely nothing. Neither will boycotting paper and wood products. If they couldn’t even give the logs away they would raze the land and, again, just sell it for the corporate equivalent of a nickel. Protecting the land, period, is the only thing that makes a difference. The only thing. THE ONLY thing. ONE THING.
