Hey all! It’s been a busy year here, with school and life and all. So much so that I haven’t been drawing for my own as much. However, there is a cute new pattern at the Mochi Momo store in the Summer Store section. The Smiling Whale pattern comes in Pink or Blue, and is found in the new Slippahs (Flip Flops) section!
If you like this pattern and would want to see it on other products, let me know.
Cool stuff! The first opening "Attack on Titan" (Guren no Yumiya) goes really well with visuals from season 1 of "Avatar: The Legend of Korra".
Hayao Miyazaki's last feature film, 'The Wind Rises', will be playing at HIFF this October 10. Tickets are already on sale, so if you're in Hawaii, take this opportunity to see the film on the big screen while you can.
You can get tickets from their website.
It's listed at $8.95 right now. If you can, it's time to get it.
On sale tomorrow is Satoshi Kon’s first long-form manga Tropic of the Sea.
It’s strange to call it Kon’s debut work, but this is his earliest work to be translated into English and his first manga in English as well. Already the work is getting some attention being a unanimous selection for Pick of the Week at the Manga Bookshelf (link).
Stay tuned for some more reviews as they come in.
And let’s see if we can get this special release on the Amazon Manga Top 10. (Link)
An updated version of my musubi design is up at Mochi Momo. Apparently, using the name of the famous luncheon meat in my original design was a no-no, and Hormel requested it taken down. Live and learn. After removing the name, it needed a few more adjustments to balance it out. That led to a few more, until we arrived at the new result above.
I am rather pleased with the new version. If you like it, too, it's available as a t-shirt design at Mochi Momo's Summer Store. Click the design to see it in action.

Nice advice from FabFoods on choosing healthy alternatives to high-calorie foods, such as having some Apple Oatmeal for breakfast instead of a piece of Apple Cake, or choosing a Bran Muffin over a Powdered Donut. However, couldn't help but notice the KrispyKreme Doughnut coupon on the right.

Unexpectedly bumped into this little gem. It's the very first 'Adventure Time' short, when Fin was a rambunctious 12-year-old boy named 'Pen', and Jake meets up with Lady Rainicorn for the first time.

Canadian photographer David Eger sure has a sense of humor. Besides the iconic Alfred Eisenstaedt photo "The Kiss" (above) characters from the Star Wars series show up on Abby Road, there's a twist on Warhol's "The Marilyns", and more. Click the photo to see the rest.
