Trans Viktor and Cis Jayce

There's so many things wrong with fanon JayVik and one of those things is people's trans Viktor headcanons

Okay, okay hear me out—I don't fucking care that people have a right to headcanon whatever they want. I know some people have already pointed out that people can headcanon Viktor as trans if they please—which, yeah, I'm not gonna say "Hey, bitch! Viktor should be cis and Jayce should be trans!1!!1!", but I will say that I hate the reinforcement of hetero gender roles and the stereotypical trans man appearance.

What's the stereotypical trans man appearance you may ask? If you don't already know, it's white and skinny. (Don't try to fucking deny it) People will generally think of white queers more so than they do queers of color. Not only that, but they'll usually think of small and skinny when they think of trans men.

Bleh.

Trans men aren't all small. Plenty of trans men can be chubby, bulky, tall (or at least average fucking height and not like 4'11 with a snatched waist), etc etc. Additionally, afab parents in gay relationships aren't all automatically assigned the "mommy" role. I'm definitely more of the "mommy" type; however, I'm not small nor white and a large portion of trans men who want to be parents don't want to be thought of as "mommies" much less the "girl" in the relationship.

Gay relationships are gay for a reason!! Some relationships will have the masc and fem role, but not all!!! Not even in straight relationships will the smaller partner be fem/female or the bigger partner be masc/male.

I get why people headcanon Viktor as trans. If you're white, you'll automatically align yourself more with white characters and sort of toss aside characters of color. I hate it, but whatev. My main issue comes with people making Viktor trans AND giving him more feminine personality traits.

Neither Jayce nor Viktor needs to be the "girl" in their relationship!!!

But if you're gonna assign a "girl" in the relationship, why not let it be Jayce?

Not in the ironic sense where you make memes and laugh about pregnant Jayce, but in the unironic sense that you're making and liking scene redraws of male and female characters where Viktor takes the female character's place.

I know why of course. . . Doesn't mean I'm not still getting ticked off.

Vi could be convinced to wear the uniform, but NOT in the way she was convinced in the show.

Who cares about her love for Ca*tlyn??

It shouldn't be a part of the process of Vi turning into an enforcer.

VI might love Ca*t, but she loved Powder/Jinx for far longer. Vi's relationship with Ca*t can't compare to her relationship with Powder/Jinx.

Her entire time in jail was spent thinking of getting back to her little sis. The fact that her sister changed so much would hurt her. Badly. But she still loved her sister even after seeing Jinx joyfully shoot at Firelights.

She "created" Jinx—that would be her main reason for going after her sister herself, but for becoming an enforcer? No. That being said. . .

She could be manipulated into thinking that becoming an enforcer was the only way to get rid of Jinx.

Ca*tlyn was the only person Vi could turn to. The undercity was no longer the home she used to know and her time in prison would make her attached to anyone who freed her from that hellhole (even if that person only did so to use her). However, Vi's love for Ca*t still wouldn't be the reason why she'd become an enforcer.

Ekko lived in a secret hideout and both Ca*t and Vi were kidnapped soon after they were supposed to go their separate ways. Vi would've gone back to Powder/Jinx and would've done her best to reach out to the Powder inside Jinx alongside Ekko.

But she didn't because Ca*t and her were kidnapped together and because they both witnessed Jinx bomb the council.

This results in Vi comforting Ca*t and feeling responsible for the grief Ca*t experiences. With the feelings they share and knowing Vi's knowledge of the woman who killed her mother, Ca*t would, and did, use her romantic relationship with Vi as a way to get revenge against her mother's murderer.

It's not Vi's love for Ca*t and the guilt of creating Jinx that leads her to become an enforcer, it's Vi's belief that there's no other way for her to stop Jinx's violence that leads Vi to wear the badge her family's killers wore.

But this belief is only had because Ca*t put it into her head. Ca*tlyn is an enforcer and wants to stop Jinx. Stopping Jinx isn't something only Ca*t wants to do though. The councilors also want to stop Jinx.

Jinx is lawless; those who enforcer the law should be the ones to stop her.

So, in Ca*t's mind, if Jinx is to be stopped, Vi needs to join the side of the law to stop Jinx.

This, of course, is NOT the only way to stop Jinx, but Ca*t believes it to be and could make Vi believe it as well because no one else is around to tell her otherwise.

Topsiders won't say that Vi's relationship with Jinx can stop her.

Enforcers won't speak up against violence against those from the undercity.

Ekko is elsewhere, unable to speak, unable to fight against Vi becoming the enemy.

Had Ekko been around, or had Vi simply not been around mostly Topsiders, she would've never become an enforcer.

No, instead she's surrounded by people who think that to stop a criminal, an enforcer is needed.

And that is what would've/should've been the reason that Vi became an enforcer.

Not because Jinx needs to be stopped, not because Vi loved Ca*t, not because Vi "knew" there was no other way to stop her sister, not because some cute enforcer girl wanted people like Vi on their side,

But because no one around her argued that there was another way to stop Jinx,

because Ca*t could tell her over and over and over again that she needed Vi to wear that pig skin to stop the woman who killed her mother to stop Jinx

and no one was around to back Vi up when she originally said no.

I need ya'll brain.

If they wanted Vi to think jinx is a monster

Then they should have focused on her relationship with Ekko and finds out that jinx blew him up.

Ekko is already gone,Vi doesn’t get the full story , just that jinx was more than ready to kill Ekko and almost did it. That she blew him up and he was injured., let Vi accept That jinx has been killing firelights for years and fully take it in, show us a scarred or handicapped firelight due to jinx , focus on the memorial which ones died on her hands.

This can push Vi to think jinx is a “monster” and even deepen her guilt as she “created” jinx (said by jinx herself) and all these dead people are because of her and it’s her responsibility to do something about it ( if something happens it’s on you ).

Having Vi go “jinx is a monster and powder is gone” and that character change happens offscreen after the memorial attack and bombing of the council , as if these were the pushing points, the councillors are corrupt and Vi knows that “fuck the council” “you’re gonna have to kill another trencher” so she shouldn’t be this moved by their deaths nor really care about them , she’s sad for Caitlyn sure and worried about the possibility of full scale attack , I can take that for her becoming an enforcer but not thinking jinx is a monster.

Ximena + latina stereotypes

I don't know if any other latino feels the same way, but it's so annoying seeing people make Arcane content with Ximena being the angry mexican mother stereotype.

Don't get me wrong! The chancla threat is definitely something I've seen firsthand and is common in latine (not just Mexican) families, but I still hate seeing fandom content with it because I am tirrreed of the angry/feisty latina stereotype being applied to latina characters simply because they're latina and not because they're stubborn, sassy, etc etc individuals. I don't even know if everyone who has made content with Ximena being like that are actually latine. If they aren't, omggggg that just makes it more annoying like plz get tf outta hereeee—also, Ximena is far from the stereotypical aggressive Mexican mother, so why make content with her like that?

(I mean I know why latines do it but anyone else? STAWWWPPPP)

When Jayce had almost gotten EXILED and had his apartment exploded because of his research in magic, did Ximena get very angry and threaten Jayce? No! She had every right to be angry due to the fear of losing her child and of Jayce being so. damn. insistent over his magic stuff, but instead she was more desperate and sad, asking firmly yet anxiously for the council to just let. him. come. home and wanted him to just let the dream go. She didn't yell at Jayce aggressively even if any other mother might have.

Personal hc based off canon:

She's not the type of mother to get aggressive when upset. Her emotions will lean more towards sadness and disappointment—if anything she's the "I'm not angry. I'm disappointed" trope than the "Que?! Pinche desgraciado—*chancla slapping sounds*" trope.

Ximena is a single mother and while she may not be perfect, she's not verbally much less physically abusive.

She spoke out to protect her son, but did so in a manner that had her appeasing the council. One could say she doesn't often fight back the way she should and is a bit of a doormat to society—which is common for a lot of people in the older generation. Her and Jayce's dynamic, as seen in the scene after Jayce's expulsion from the academy, is one where she tries to get him to keep his head down and he is too stubborn to listen. It's the classic "But mom! It's not fair!" vs "I know, honey, I know. That's just the way the world works." and "Mom! You shouldn't let him speak to you like that!" vs "Honey, it's okay. Let's just go—please don't make a scene."

I'd like to note that she let Jayce leave after Jayce told her he would "go find someone who will" support his magical, seemingly impossible dream because "my family won't"—not to mention didn't do anything when Jayce basically slammed the door shut behind him when he left.

If she were a stereotypical Mexican mother, she wouldn't have let Jayce's disrespectful behavior slide ESPECIALLY since he barely reacted to getting expelled and focused more on what she did to PROTECT him!!!! Anyway—

If things are unfair, she'll ignore them. She'll protect her family and keep her son safe however she can, but she doesn't like to rock the boat and wishes her son wouldn't either. She loves Jayce, loves him so much, and loves that he got so far in life, but Ximena has been through so much that she would have been fine to keep her small, quiet life.

All that matters to her is that her son is safe and alive.

He is so strict with having good health he will make sure to brush his teeth twice a night, floss, sleep (as best he can), eat nutritious food on a regular basis (again, as best he can), etc etc to the point where you can look into books about good life habits and it's literally just him

Though he tries to do things the proper way, he doesn't actually like hanging out with others outside of work (or even during work) and finds it hard to have friendly facial expressions. This, of course, makes him seem ruder than he actually is. Man rarely smiles (nobody knows if he even can smile) and hardly interacts much less talks to others unless they do so first. Even then, he'll make those interactions brief because people usually try to strike up a conversation while Steb and them are supposed to be focused on their work. If it's during their break then. . . yeah lol they'll still be curt interactions

He prefers being on his own, but he tries not to isolate himself because he knows it's important to be around people and socialize (even if he doesn't want to). Part of the reason he doesn't like socializing with others is because he is such a stickler for having certain behaviors and most others either don't or they are too up-tight for his liking. Just because he likes to do things the proper way doesn't mean he wants to socialize with snobby people that claim to be "proper". It makes him feel like he's at work interacting with superiors and in those cases he'd rather be alone than interact with people like that.

You can pry instructional materials out of his cold dead hands—whether it's cooking instructions, assembly instructions, procedures, etc etc he will follow them to the T. He will use those instructions that come with furniture. He's not the type of man to think it's a hit to his ego if he looks at instructions and in fact judges those who do.

Speaking of cooking, he's a mediocre cook. He would be worse, but following instructions helps him not be so bad. The food is good enough to eat and live off of, but it doesn't have enough oomph because his need to stick to cooking instructions can only go so far in making good food and he lacks natural cooking talent. Since he lives alone and he doesn't mind the mediocrity of the food, he doesn't make a great effort to be better. He'll get better with time, but it's not by much unless he gets a romantic partner or someone else who would possibly rely on his cooking skills. (He'll never be a chef though)

He will review training procedures on a regular basis and does his best to learn from each mistake he makes. Each year he has to do mandatory re-training, he makes sure to take it seriously and doesn't assume that he already knows his stuff. In his mind, the annual training is mandatory for a reason (which is true).

Surprisingly tolerant. He'll judge you over your bad habits, but he does his best to have an even temper. It will take a LOT before he loses his temper and when he does he ends up scolding himself over it. Losing your temper, in his opinion, is never a good thing as intense emotions can lead to irrational decisions/actions you may regret later.

Adding on to the previous bullet point, he refuses to lose his cool or raise to the bait when interacting with criminals/delinquents. It's a part of enforcer training that you have to keep a cool head and deescalate a situation as best you can before resorting to violence and threats. As a medic, he knows the importance of keeping your cool in dangerous/intense situations and, as an enforcer, why one needs to make quick observations without bias. Different law breakers will react differently and require different de-escalation methods which is why—

He gets annoyed being paired with someone who thinks being an enforcer means they can do no wrong compared to a criminal and have power trips over capturing a rowdy individual. Not only is it improper police conduct to not properly attempt to deescalate a situation, but it can cause unnecessary harm with an officer escalating a situation to the point of shooting a criminal or a criminal lashing out violently.

Despite others clowning on him for it, he will treat criminals with dignity and refuses to manhandle the criminal no matter how annoying/frustrating the criminal is. This mindset of his came about from hostage training and the motivations behind someone taking a person or group of people hostage. Law breakers may not be the best people, but they're people too and there are reasons why some (nearly all, if not all) people resort to crime. That and he never personally liked to use his power to hurt people—he's a medic after all.

He believes that the duty of an enforcer is to, yes, enforce the law, but also to protect the people. His desire to protect others comes first before anything. He doesn't like to cause harm which is why his main form of weapon is tonfas/batons. He knows how to use more violent weapons, but he'll rarely actually have those weapons on a day to day basis. While others during training were excited to use guns, he wasn't and only focused on the learning aspect of it.

In his trainee days, he was considered a bit annoying for always wanting to get things done the right way and trying to correct the mistakes of others. He did so only to help them (and because he didn't want morons to be in the police force), but there weren't many people who shared his dedication to do things by the book. Nowadays, he won't necessarily correct other's mistakes unless they are under his wing or the mistakes they made were serious.

Throughout his entire career, he is infamous for being a strict rule book follower and it disappoints him that others are so lax while on duty. He's disgusted/annoyed by those who aren't at attention while on guard duty because it only takes a moment of distraction for something horrible to happen.
