I know that Nick's whole personal mission to kill Eddie Winter kinda gets glossed over in the game and Nick's emotions regarding everything he's been through are only lightly touched on, but y'all best believe that Nick and his thoughts/feelings on everything are gonna get MESSY in my fic.
Nick woke up in the fucking garbage and throughout the game we see him be- (what I would refer to as) -passively suicidal and have some very deep-rooted self-esteem issues. He doesn't see himself as a person, he doesn't really stand up for himself- (aside from a snarky comeback here and there) -when other characters treat him like shit, he is CONSTANTLY throwing himself into extremely dangerous situations to help people without any care to whether or not he'll come out of it in one piece, he refers to himself almost exclusively using insults, he asks the PC if his face is really the last one they want to see, etc. etc.
Nick literally sees himself as some shitty knockoff of the "real" Nick Valentine, a pretender, a ghost, and like...that's gotta fuck him up a little---especially given that he thinks the Institute, the people who made him, just tossed him in the trash. He thinks that he's unwanted and about half of the Commonwealth just reinforces that based on the fact that he's a synth, there's no fucking way that this man is well adjusted in the slightest.
Not to mention the fact that he REMEMBERS BEING the original Nick Valentine, he has all these memories and flashes of things that happened to him, but it’s NOT him and he knows that logically, but it’s shown to all sort-of bleed together for him- (we see this in his personal mission when he goes back and forth between calling Jennifer “Nick’s fiancée” and “my fiancée”) -and that’s got to be so confusing and fucked up for him, because he can’t tell where Nick Valentine ends and he begins!
Who is he without the memories of some prewar detective plugged into his brain? How much of his personality is his and how much of it is “stolen?” Would he still be himself without the echos of the original Nick Valentine knocking around in his skull? He doesn’t have the answers to any of these questions and I think that should fuck him up SEVERELY!
I think he should be angry and confused and depressed, and I think he should get to work through all of that—and DAMN IT HE WILL, BUT ITS GONNA GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER!
I drew Ryan as the poster for The Thing. I think it fits his character well. I need to lock in more often.
Almost 5 hours spent on this..
Yes Man on the 1983 Zenith Space Command 💙🥰
[Sorry kinda loud/high pitched sound at the beginning]
Reposting this. It's None Jr!! The council decided he stays nameless.
Ignore the inconsistent proportions. I'm still figuring out how to draw him. He originally started off as a sort of joke character since I thought it would be funny to have a teenager that could beat up anything but now he's got some actual lore.
ohh we’re so sorry to hear about your platinum chip that got stolen. your head gets five big booms. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOOOOOOMMMMM.
My oc Ryan is in a sort of au that basically rewrites some stuff, expands on things fo4 didn't, and has some headcanons to make things a bit more realistic. The institute does have an actual cause and use for synths in this. I just need to figure why using the resources to make synthetic people would be better than just getting more people. Maybe it could be a mix of pushing themself to their limits and a way to prevent information from being leaked. Idk. Why does the institute have to be the way it was. Shaun will either not be the leader or lead things differently than canon.
Oh btw Ryan is not the sole survivor. I'll explain what exactly his situation is in his introduction post. The sole survivor still exists. Nora is more canon to me (her concept is more interesting) so she's the one to survive. Most of Ryan's story is post canon. And also this will use the minutemen ending.
I didn't know about romancing companions until last month. It just never occurred to me that would even be an option. My number one favorite thing to do when I was younger was wander around the wasteland with dogmeat or Codsworth so I didn't even take people as companions lol.
Dennis (aka Dynamite Dennis or The Menace). They have many names. They're my courier oc.
More info below.
They're known for killing significant people with dynamite and causing trouble at casinos. They're allied with Yes Man to take over the strip as their own since they didn't like the way things were being ran. Also cause they didn't really have anything to lose. They usually travel alone or with Boone.
Before getting shot by Benny they were a gun for hire and were most often hired by caravans. They heard about the courier job from someone they worked for and thought their experience would come in handy.
Ryan's main weapons. He usually uses the knife cause his perception is bad. The stat is 1 lol. For lore reasons. One day I'll explain why each stat is the way it is. The only times he uses the laser pistol are when he can't get close enough to an enemy or there's too many of them. Other than that, knives are his go-to weapon.
Time to share oc doodles. Most of them are for my fo4 oc Ryan but I also have a doodle of my courier. I need to draw them more cause it's fun.
Also here's some backgrounds I never finished.
And screenshots of the two.
