It's so interesting to me that Fair and Marbles, The Amazing Devil's two most unabashedly romantic songs, have some of most straightforward lyrics in all three albums. TAD songs about love gone wrong speak of mythologies, soldiers and battles, even monsters at the door. But when writing about long-lasting love, they're as plainspoken as they ever get, reaching for imagery grounded in the familiarity of daily life. There's something really lovely about that.

This interview and photoshoot of Joey are both so lovely. It’s nice to have a glimpse into the thought process behind the music they put out, and how he spends his time when he’s not witchering around! The only con to reading this is that every time I learn more about this man, I just fall deeper into the pit of being obnoxiously in love with him, which is not great for attempting to be a functioning normal human being.

Yo I feel like the idea that the only historical women who counted are the ones who defied society and took on the traditionally male roles is… not actually that feminist. It IS important that women throughout history were warriors and strategists and politicians and businesswomen, but so many of us were “lowly” weavers and bakers and wives and mothers and I feel like dismissing THOSE roles dismisses so many of our mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers and the shit they did to support our civilization with so little thanks or recognition.
