AU Stan still pretends to be Ford, but contrary to Canon,
his mother Caryn is aware of the ruse. He regularly sends her letters. Filbrick has no idea though, since he never bothered to visit his son or his grandchildren.
The "Hard to tell" period (I just wanna draw them still being baby :')
Stanley is smart.
He doesn't know it. No one knows it. Nobody truly saw the hidden depths of Stanley's mind. All their lives, they've been told: Stanford was smart. Academic. Bright. A world by his fingertips. Brimming with potential. His mind alone was worth millions. Stanley was lucky to be worth a cent. People knew where to look, where to point their attention, and it was never at Stan.
Ford was smart, Stan is right there. Ford was going places, Stan is right there. Ford will one day bestow upon the wisdom the world needs. Stan is right there.
But Stanley is smart. No one else knew.
Because no one knows what sharpness it took to craft the perfect lie. No one knows what understanding it takes to make masses grin in the wake of their words. No one knows what experience it belows to seemingly tip the scales of Lady Fortune herself in one's own favor as easy as breathing.
No one knows what cleverness it took to trick a trickster of the mind itself. No one knows, when Ford's own mind had dimmed with grief and despair, his hope crushed under inky black fingers bit by bit, Stan's had shone through, burning so brightly it took the two inhabitants away. No one knows what resilience of the mind it takes, to reach into the depths of their own mishapen, shattered remains and pick itself up at the call of their of their loved ones.
But Stanford knows. Stanford always knew.
Stanley is smart. He's always been smart. He keeps getting smart, every day, every minute and every second.
...
Stanford can only hope he doesn't get too smart. He can only hope that the lavender haze that plagues Stan's eyes blurs the signs enough so that he'll never be wise.
Because the day Stan wisens up, he'll understand what everyone— teachers, their father, Ford, and himself— was wrong. The day Stan wisens up, he'll see Ford as the walking chain of his insecurities and hurt that held him down for decades.
The day Stan wisens up, he'll know, and he will leave Ford to flounder.
Ford hopes Stan never knows how smart he really is. He would stay right there, just by Ford's side.

Y'all what if I told you I ship Pyramid Steve with Stan like fr now
everybody look at this
(posted with permission from flynnawoo on youtube)
It's the Stans! The Mans! The Myths! The Legends!
Comfort characters (both believe they're screw ups who ruin everything and deep down they just want their families to love them again)
I have no respect for billford shippers that look down on stancest shippers.
Oh what, you’d have me believe a genetic tie to a partner is somehow worse than being with someone that stabs through your hands, forces you to swallow live spiders, and also SA’s you by having yourself forcibly strip down in public and swing your clothes over your head like a helicopter? (sorry but anyone that forcibly removes your clothes and exposes your body, even if you’re a guy/lacking breasts and it’s just your chest, is committing SA against you. They’re exposing your body against your will plain and simple. Try to write that off how you like but that’s the facts)
The logic behind this baffles me honestly.
There’s a reason Alex titled that kissing drawing as "the worst drawing in the world" and then linked to an amazon BIBLE page (yeah I know that was part of a joke well guess what he frequently uses the bible joke for shipping in general so yeah).
Because he knows it’s BAD, TOXIC, PROBLEMATIC AS YOU GUYS LIKE TO LABEL THINGS. What I see people incorrectly accuse PROSHIPPERS to REPRESENT rather than the actual representation of the LIVE AND LET LIVE CREDO OF SHIPPING.
Ever stop to consider that maybe Alex didn’t do stancest or art involving Wendy/Dipper because he simply a) didn’t like those ships, which is valid since everyone has their own tastes, and he did base some of these characters on his own family so it’s close to home for him, or b) knows how toxic and chronically online a lot of haters are? That he wanted to avoid drama for this stream that he’s trying to milk every cent out of for CHARITY? (It's ridiculous how many times he felt obligated to say "REMEMBER IT'S FOR CHARITY" when shipping came up just to try and prevent any meltdowns from uptight fans and viewers. And even then he still didn't do some because he knew the fact of it being for charity still wouldn't fly for some- because a lot of people would rather watch REAL PEOPLE SUFFER to preserve their fictional sensitivities)
Not to mention he still works with Disney (chibiverse hello), any backlash (the form of false pedo accusations or incest apologist accusations being what happens to be thrown around all willy nilly nowadays over fictional bullshit) could get him blocked not only from workling with the company ever again, but lose any input he might have over his beloved passion project and baby Gravity Falls itself?
This is a man who has said COUNTLESSLY that he doesn’t care about ships, has even encouraged people to "be weirder" and made omelet hypotheticals for how much HE DOESN’T CARE BECAUSE FICTIONAL SHIPS DON’T MATTER.
Alex Hirsch is a KING.
And it’s sad to see that so many of his loyal subsets are so bigoted and blind to ignore his own feelings in order to justify their own, or to somehow perform the mental gymnastics in order to absolve themselves of "thought crimes" so that they can feel like they aren’t bad people under the imposition of conservative purity culture.
The terms "cest" and "age" are trigger words now. If those show up in any form, pitchforks come out and roofs get burned. Companies overreact and overcompensate. He said Disney people were watching, so of course he’s gonna say and act in what is deemed an appropriate manner because even companies apparently prefer abusive relationships to ones that have a blood tie even if blood ties are wholesomely depicted.
The age old double standards.
And don’t get me started on bringing up Dipper Goes To Taco Bell. Alex and cast know of that story, they’ve made references to it in a video game and such, immortalized it. They engage with all corners of their fandom, also shown by Jason’s "saving the town" reference on stream.
Another thing, anyone notice how they laughed off the Dipper and Wendy suggestion Jason made, rather than exploded? BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE IT'S NOT THAT SERIOUS - and most likely turned them down because they know there's more drama about characters being aged up and crap so it wouldn't have mattered if they're adults now, there are people who will always see them as "kids".
Point is - If there was such a strong hate on Alex’s part about the darker side of fiction or taboos he’d do all in his power to make sure they were never mentioned again and be active against them.
He’s a kind, caring man that obviously likes to just get along with people, but he does put his foot down when he feels something is awful. He’s made political posts about presidents he feels are corrupt and spoken out against social injustice. You honestly think he wouldn’t speak out about those taboo ships in frank language if he thought that they shouldn’t exist and that the people who create for them are awful?
Newsflash, he would. Yes, he’d isolate a sadly small part of his fanbase, but he’s shown time and again he doesn’t care about being liked. He cares about what’s right.
And abusing others over which made up character kisses who, isn’t.
If you’re someone that mislabels proshippers too, to mean "problematic shippers", then as a billford shipper you’re one by definition. And yes, I'm including you AU billford shippers too because there is always some degree of toxicity.
Knock the hate and abuse off. People that go off about why their ship is justified and another isn't are the reason people leave fandoms and leave amazing works often unfinished, even Gen writers and artists.

Brother that gon be one toxic relationship 😭
listen i don't care if its a toxic relationship as long as
there's potential to change and develop
it's not being glorified or put in a light that would suggest it's something people should actively look for and indulge in in a relationship
while I'm not one to completely rely my argument on "oh it's fiction so you can do whatever you want with no consequences" it's important to distinguish that nobody is actually being hurt as it is in fiction.
a lot of relationships in fiction are inherently toxic but i dont think that should take away enjoyment from the media.
blue and error's relationship was inherently toxic (yes, even after the reworks, they still had a toxic relationship at some point) but they were able to still develop and change as characters
it's not that we should be like "uurrgh toxic relationships are always bad because everyone needs to be perfectly healthy" because that's just unrealistic both in fiction in real life like nobody is perfect people are human and humans can get toxic that's just how it is
Do you mind giving Error Sans a secret real name? I'm making a rap battle parody of Alexander the Great vs Ivan the Terrible, because Ivan reminds me of how Error Sans would do: messing up AUs.
ok well he’s sorta just become Error since I don’t really see him as a sans but-His true name is Gaylord Scooter BrightonGaylord Scooter for short

SORRY MY BRAINROT IS INTENSE, to try to resolve this im going to write a little something! it's obvious dream (i might just use utmv names for the sake of my terrible memory) is the founder and top dog at justice reigns, i know ink is his mercenary and is the only one to take direct orders from him, but where does that place finch? is he above ink at 2nd or under ink at 3rd? if you have the time, could you maybe explain briefly what they think of eachother? moreso ink & finch and dream & ink for the sake of my plot, they'll be interacting and i want it to be as accurate as possible
just let me know if the asks are a problem and i'll stop sending them! i know it's an inactive work but the autism drives me LMAO
ok so, first off, ink isn't the only one to take direct orders from dream, if I said that in the past it may have been a mistake. (who the heck is getting orders from dream if only ink is taking orders from him hahaha) ink, for the most part, only takes direct orders from dream, not is the only one who does. for his status, ink is not part of the hierarchy in JR; he doesn't have the authority to give anyone orders. if dream tells ink to take orders from the justice division, he has to take orders from the justice division, but the justice division doesn't have power over ink by default. if JR has a hard or specific mission, they might send ink. (I feel like it would make sense for there to be more JR mercenaries than just ink. but it's a little late to contemplate changes to the lore)
finch is an officer of the justice division, but I don't know what exactly his status is supposed to be. I've said he's a captain before, but I feel like it only makes sense if he's 31, aka his fatal flaws age. so, take with that what you will. he could be young at 24 and be far ahead for his age but not in a position of full authority (think: a senior who gets put in charge of a smaller group, not the guy who goes to meetings) or he could be 31 and be a captain. that aside, I imagine that finch and ink don't really talk on a casual basis. their impressions of each other are probably limited to "that guy again," while passing each other in the hallway and likely some awkward small talk. they probably have worked together a few times and finch probably thinks that ink is too irresponsible and doesn't fully understand why ink works such an important job. (because he gets it done, somehow) they're kind of polar opposites. which does leave some room for an interesting dynamic if you think it's interesting.
as for whatever ink and dream have going on, they're kind of friends even though they're technically not supposed to be. in ds there is a tangible barrier of authority and power that would be difficult to overcome. not impossible, but difficult. they do still kind of have that "you're just my boss" relationship in fatal flaws which creates a little distance, but I think they could become friends more easily there because arthur isn't immortal and hasn't used any godlike power to gain a following.

The meme trio is here!
guys why does the tag look like this
I just read DS Ink's backstory and I am curious about how DS acted(and looked) before being snatched up by the military? If he had not been snatched up by the military at a very young age and turned into a human weapon. Would he still be a douchebag or just nicer?
about that. I'm not entirely sure. back when I was working on the story, I never thought much about it. (also the funny thing about ink being called a douchebag back in the day is that it seems super weird to call ink that, haha. he's just very blunt and always says what he's thinking even if it's not kind or thought-through. plus some other odd thought processes of his regarding his work. don't worry about it.)
I think there are some parts of ink's personality that are consistent, like the no-filter thing, since his/her personality is very similar in fatal flaws and there's no military backstory there. in any case, in ds, he was taken when he was little, so his personality wasn't particularly strong at the time. he was probably just a misbehaved kind of kid and would've grown into a misfit teen. one of those kids who gets told "you're talented so why don't you try harder :(" all the time and keeps getting his parents called into the office.
this is a tangent, but to be honest, ink's whole military backstory isn't very fleshed out. it was one of the last things to be added to ds before I stopped working on it and a lot of the ideas relating to it, and the details never really grew on me. a lot of stuff regarding his difficulty with feelings were not very articulate or thoughtful. I think now the whole thing about him being brainwashed by the military, the thing about the electroshocks and the codewords, was pretty contrived (did I ever even explain those?). it was basically just 'look, he's like an edgy winter soldier version of ink sans, he has a big band thing' and now I'm just like. wow, that sure doesn't work. even if I tried to make it a dark comedy thing, it doesn't really fit that well to me.
I think I prefer the idea that he got taken in by his country's military, barely remembers his family who willingly gave him up, and that's about it. and because he was raised that way, he thought there wasn't anything else to his life. and so, he's used to being ordered around, and that's why he went on to work for jr so quickly. there's just no point in his entire will being compromised by a military when all they have to do is tell him from a young age that he's being a hero, even if he stops believing it when he's older.
so, anyway, sorry about turning this into a rant, I've just been thinking about it recently. ink was just a normal kid. who like, apparently had weird inexplicable superpowers. ds's lore sure is a thing. and yeah, the problem is, if you take away his brainwashing, there aren't any other explanations for his amnesia unless he has trauma-induced memory gaps, but uh. I sort of forgot he had amnesia until right now. that's what happens when you make a character out of order.
Hello! Dreamswap and Fatal Flaws have been rotting my brain recently, and I wanted to ask a few questions:
Does Champion still exist in Fatal Flaws? He's a character I don't see much of anywhere and yet his existence fills me with such joy.
Do any members of either cast know of/play Dungeons and Dragons? The meme squad feels like they would bring such chaos to a table, and imagining the nonsense makes me happy.
Thank you if you take the time to read this, I think your characters are very interesting!
hi there! well… champion was honestly a pet character I added randomly to dreamswap, to not much commitment. at the time I think I was going through this phase where I was trying to get readers to understand that arthur/ds dream was some guy and wasn't evil, so I was like, look, he has a dog! haha 💦
after that, I just kind of stopped thinking about it. I never really settled into the idea of arthur having a dog, at least one that he personally takes care of. I think he would have one if he were living a normal life or when he was a kid, but probably not while he's running jr at a mental low and trying to hunt miles. the man might have champ introduced as a therapy dog later down the line. he needs it
as for your other question, I have no idea man. I'm sure the meme squad plays it, it seems on brand for them, but I never really got into d&d.
