A comic of rise Leo laying in bed scrolling through his phone late at night. The color palette is a monochromatic cool blue with the only pops of color being Leo’s pink-ish red-ish stripes over his eyes. In the second panel, Leo lays his phone face down on the bed and sighs, looking restless.

The scene changes to Leo standing in front of Donnie’s lab, looking in through the open door. Leo slips and is stuck flailing awkwardly behind Donnie, who has not stopped typing on his keyboard. In the second panel, Leo starts twisting around, trying to get comfortable in the tight space.

Leo finally settles and has himself tucked snuggly around Donnie, sighing in content. Donnie remains unfazed.

An overhead shot revealing Leo curled around behind Donnie with his hands pulled to his chest. Leo’s legs dangle half off the side of the chair awkwardly, yet he looks to be peacefully sleeping. Donnie continues typing at his keyboard, the computer monitors now a warm pink color. The sfx “tap tap tap tap” is written above the chair.

Ones hands can tell the story of how they’ve lived… and how far they have come.

I’m a sucker for Good Dad Splinter ever since I watched TMNT ‘03. That rat was gifted sapience and his immediate instinct was kindness. I love that for him.

Rise Splinter lived a rollercoaster of a life, but as a Hollywood star he remembered the names of all his stunt guys and coworkers, and as a prisoner he cared for the rat that shared his cell. His sons are very close and physically affectionate, I think that says something about how he cares? That’s just how I like to headcanon him :)

It’s interesting to explore the idea that a seemingly monstrous transformation is what pushed him to be a kinder human
