The sun came up today, and it will come up tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that. The world did not end, even if it feels like it. We are not at the end of history — this is a fight that has been ongoing since the dawn of civilization. It will continue past the extinction of humans and into whatever species inherits the earth after us, over and over, until our sun dies and our planet becomes cold and quiet.
And maybe, even then, it will continue.
Feel your emotions. Know them, understand them, embrace them. Then turn them into action. Find somewhere — anywhere — to volunteer. Talk to your neighbors. Attend your council and school board meetings. VOTE, in ever election, in every race, no matter what.
Tend to your wounds, then get back into the fight.
It's not over until you're dead. I've got at least another good 50 years in me, and that's how long I plan to keep fighting.
Dear everyone else that lives in America:
Don’t fucking give up. You hear me? Don’t give up. Listen to me. It’s okay to feel scared. It’s okay to feel hopeless. 99% of you reading this, given my demographic, will have your rights stripped and that’s terrifying. But listen to me. I don’t care what happens, you keep fighting, okay? No matter what happens in this damn country, you stay alive, stay vigilant, and keep fighting. No matter how terrified for your future, you stay standing. When the world tries to knock you down, you plant your feet and stay where you are. Out of spite, confidence, fear, no matter what. You stay strong. I love you. We will get through this. Stay. Alive.
