Speaking of Ethel Cain, I miss Hayden’s presence on this app so much.

Obviously, her reasons for logging off should always be completely respected but really missing the hours upon hours I’d spend just scrolling through her page just to read her “ask me anything” responses. She is so eloquently spoken and knowledgeable about the topics she speaks on; I can only hope to eventually reach just half of her reflective capacity. And also, obviously, her lyrical and storytelling genius like no other; it is actually mind blowing. Truly one of the greatest artists of our generation. No one does it like her.

An analysis requires you to draw conclusions about the media such as authorial intent, real-world parallels, discussion about themes/worldbuilding/character motivation, and so much more. There was this horrible moment I had while reading SotR today where I realized Haymitch looked at Katniss and saw the dead little girl with dark braided hair he had to carry to Snow’s doorstep, his best friend he had to push away for his own good, and the Covey girl he couldn’t save all rolled into one more tribute he had to lead to her death wearing the meanest girl in town’s pin. I cant stop thinking about the fact that Rhonda talked to Maddie about feeling lonely and then the next episode there's the scene with the marching band. She's so horribly angry and upset which she has every right to be. Her death was so horribly brutal, she's always felt like she cant reach out to the people around her and shes just screaming, then she yells at the band to 'wake up' and ??? Quinn puts down her trumpet for the first time in 20 years and ?? listens. And then a while later in the scene where they're talking by the skeleton in the science room we see Rhonda genuinely smile for what may be the first time ever in the series. There's no bitterness or mocking behind it. It just changes her face so completely and there's just this sense of relief that we feel through her. I'm actually unwell I don't know how to verbalize this.

Louella being replaced by Lou Lou, a name that only mimics the first half of her name, and a girl who matches her in appearance only. The Appalachia legends of mimics. The two versions of the games: the one that Haymitch remembers and the edited, falsified version of them without the real content. The two bags of gumdrops. The fraternal affection he feels for Louella and Lou Lou, the artificial twins, and Maysilee’s offer to be his sister—the second one she gives in the book. A bond with a real twin, both pairs healing the sisters he never did know. The split between what is natural and what is manufactured or forged, bonds that that grow on their own, or are forced into existance. And if the distinction makes any difference to the person it impacts.
