you have done so much for a lot of people who love Underserve/Xtale and it means a lot to me and everyone, we would never forget your hard work and Nyx's. you both inspire me so much and you both deserve this break, i hope you both will be safe and well and I'm definitely gonna watch Underverse 0.8 Part 1 on the weekend because of school but spoilers never bothered me cause i get to see peoples art of it who love and support you both. i am forever grateful for everything you and Nyx have done and I'm excited for your original project and Xtale stuff. thank you both for everything and i hope for good things for you both <3

Now that Underverse 0.8 Part 1 is finally out, it’s time for me to step back and take a break from the series. It’s a bittersweet decision... seeing the amazing reaction to this episode makes me want to dive right into animating the next parts. But I know if I do, I’ll fall back into the same cycle of emotional burnout I’ve faced over the years. To break that draining routine, I need to stop for a moment. Underverse will be on HIATUS FOR 1 YEAR AND A HALF.

HOWEVER! I’m not disappearing entirely! I’ll still be working on the XTALE 21 YEARS comic, hosting Ask the Xtale Gang events, and occasionally creating short animated content. This break will also give me a chance to focus on my original project, METADORA.

I’d be lying if I say I'm a little worried about people forgetting the series during the hiatus. But I need this break, and I can’t thank you all enough for your continued support and encouragement. Even during tough times, knowing that this project was born from a mix of improvisation and silliness, has brought joy and inspiration to so many people reminds me of my purpose in this world. And I want to keep doing that until the end.

I hope to return with renewed passion and strength to finish this journey that has taught me so much not only as an artist, but as a person as well.

Thank you for being with me.

i hate people who ship Dream and Nightmare like they're FREAKING BROTHERS PEOPLE!!! 😒

I remember what my sleep deprived mind wanted to ramble about last night lmao

Dream and Nightmare's dynamic is poetic to me, they're brothers and by nature they should care for each other, but at the same time their roles and purposes in the universe directly conflict with each other. Both of their roles are important tho and one without the other would be catastrophic

You need positivity and light just as much as you need negativity and darkness. You need to be able to smile on good days and enjoy the sunshine but you also need to be able to be angry or sad

I think for a long time after Dream gets out of his stone prison, that they'd fight not just because they have differing opinions (Dream wanting his old brother back and Nightmare knowing that isn't gonna happen and getting frustrated that Dream wont listen) but also because they don't understand yet that things can't be absolute

Once they'd make up, they'd understand that both of their jobs are important and they'd respect each other's roles, of course tho they'd butt heads at times, that's just a given with them being opposites

That's where my Star Sanses and Bad Sanses are at now, Nightmare's corruption has faded and now he and Dream are just two old guys trying to enjoy the life they somehow missed out on for 500+ years with their respective groups

I don't think they'd immediately be on 100% good terms but they'd respect each other and eventually grow to consider each other family again (that'd be moreso Nightmare's struggle since I think Dream would still care for his brother even in the corruption)

Their movies are awesome so I'm happy with my results ☺️

to celebrate i made a drawing of two of my Undertale fallen children oc's Nox and Luca dressed up as their own version of Dipper and Mabel from gravity falls. i thought it would be more original for my trick since other people were sticking to the classic looks from the show for frisk and chara or chara and Asriel. i even put a certain au character in there that a lot of people love for a treat i hope you all like it and have a safe Halloween :3

would you guys be interested if i posted Undertale self-inserts of myself both fallen child and adult with au versions? (And no there will NOT be any shipping for the child one cause child x adult is wrong and disgusting and one of the many things I hate in life)

this is a present to qin-qin16 who writes sans x reader and sans x sans and draws cute and awesome art. she is really nice and cool so i wanted to draw her oc which is a ship kid of color and killer sans and her oc is adorable. i had to look up a lot of refences to help cause this was my first time drawing a baby bones so i looked at thegrinningkitten's art for help since they drew some ship kids and skeletons, and i wanted to give her cat sneakers as a bonus surprise since her papa killer is a cat lover and to give it more detail and not blend in with the pants. i recommend checking her stuff out it's amazing and she is also writing 2 awesome Undertale stories on archivesAO3. qinqin i hope you like my art gift for you cause i wanted to say thank you for your kindness and your amazing creativity of your writing and art for people who also enjoy it, you deserve all the good things in the world and i hope i did your oc justice in the pic the jacket design was definitely a challenge lol (pun intended lolz)

I finally finished it, the soul of Integrity aka quaver. she dreams to become a professional dancer when she gets older so she takes ballet to help her with balance, Mental strength, focus Physical coordination, grace and posture. She ran away due to her Father breaking his promise to show up for her big performance and of course she ends up falling into the underground due to not paying attention.

Kindness for a soul and a heart made of gold here we have is the soul of kindness aka Luca. Luca is a sweet, kind kid who lives in a orphanage but was taught how to cook by one of the nice caretakers. they wanted to try to make a blueberry pie so they ventured up to MTT EBBOT to pick some blueberry's from a bush but accidently tripped and fell into the underground not knowing what kind of adventure awaited for them.

CANON FACTS ABOUT DREAMTALE

simply because some people have been pissing me off a little over our wide Internet, I’ve decided to post stuff that is 100% canon about Dreamtale, a beautiful AU which unfortunately not many people know well enough, and for that they think it’s worthless, a piece of shit and/or a blatant plagiarism. lots of people don’t even understand the basics. so, since most of this info is unknown to many of those who know about this AU, I’m here to open your eyes and relieve you of your stress!

this is just a long, helpful, awfully necessary summary, because all the posts spitting false bullshit about Dreamtale make my blood boil even if it’s not even my AU. here you’ll find stuff you might already know, but it ranges from the basics to “secret” facts only certain people have had access to thus far (aka spanish speakers who know joku has a youtube channel)

remember, all of this is canon unless stated otherwise, no theories included (speculations with enough proof are still valid). thank me later.

General facts:

- Within the concept of the AU, there are 3 vital trees that keep the balance of the universe: Life, Magic and Feelings, all protected by extremely powerful guardians (Quetzalcoatl, Lanny and Nim respectively). Each tree is in a hidden world; nobody must know where they are in order to keep them safe, though some people have found them, both good and bad intentioned. Because of this, Dreamtale occurs in a world completely unrelated to any place from the original Undertale, since it’s the occult world where the Tree of Feelings resides. This AU, by consequence, breaks the 4th wall several times.

- Dream and Nightmare were created after their subsequent mother was attacked by a human wielding a weapon, a dagger, powerful enough to wound a guardian in an attempt to obtain one of the golden apples. It’s possible this human was one of Quetzalcoatl’s creations, since at the time of the attack there was no life near the Tree of Feelings, and that it might have been deliberate. Dream and Nightmare were originally little fireballs, yellow and purple respectively. Nim was going to give them human bodies to protect their frail forms, but the energy that radiated from the fireballs made them explode as they had very few escape points. They were then given skeleton bodies (based on Underswap!Sans), which allowed that energy to flow without trouble - this is why they are not considered Sanses per se. Dream and Nightmare are currently 503 years old (their birthday is the 21st of December).

- The apple incident occurred when Dream and Nightmare were technically 6 years old, physically, which meant Nightmare went through 6 years of bullying.

- The encouraging voice Nightmare heard before eating the apples was actually the conscience of the man who killed Nim, as he ended up being absorbed by the negative side of the Tree. It’s not clear if he had any more influence on Nightmare’s corruption, however.

- Dream can’t touch the black apples, and Nightmare can’t touch the golden ones, otherwise they would invert. It’s unknown what would exactly happen if Dream touched the black apples, and it will remain unknown in canon as he would never do such a thing. It’s also unknown what would happen if both twins touched a single apple at the same time. - Dream and Nightmare were not true guardians, only replacements. They had to learn how to unleash their true powers on their own. - At some unknown point, Dream met Ink, who in this instance made him believe he was a kind-hearted protector just like him. Dream thought Ink was hiding his emotions for some reason, until one day he saw him not doing anything to help when some people were in trouble. This caused a heavy argument between them that almost ended in a fight. That was when Dream realized they had immensely different mindsets, given that Ink didn’t care about people’s wellbeing, and felt like he had been lied to. He doesn’t trust Ink anymore after this, even though he’s unable to hate people.

Story depth:

Despite his exterior, Dream actually felt overwhelmed about helping people back in the village, but just like Nightmare, he kept it a secret from everyone. He knew everyone counted on him, but he didn’t really count on anyone, and sometimes, after helping people, he snapped and went off to cry somewhere far away from the village so that no one would realize he was internally suffering.

At some yet unknown point before the apple incident, Dream met a homeless cat-monster while he was crying and saying to himself that he “couldn’t do this anymore”. The monster overheard him, but when asked why he was crying, Dream never told the truth.

This cat was Neil, a new character introduced into the story as of February 2018. He once had a family, his wife and his son, but they were caught in a fire that burned their home down and in an attempt to protect them Neil lost his arm. Long after that, he got a hold of himself and began building a house on his own, a little closer to the village. That was when he and Dream met.

Neil was not too fond of people, feeling undeserving of their kindness and gaining a bad reputation for being a cranky loner, and because of this he did not want Dream to come back there. But Dream kept trying to help him, silently building the house alongside him, and over time, Neil began to enjoy Dream’s company and they became friends. Actual friends, and not just one more person taking advantage of his altruism. After this, Dream set a routine: help Neil during the day, and stay with Nightmare at night, or earlier. Neil knew Dream had a brother, however he never visited him, or the Tree, or the village in general.

Dream was with Neil when the incident happened. Neil let Dream run off to the village, but followed him after he heard screams. While not being part of it, he came in time to see all the chaos and destruction Nightmare had created seconds before he disappeared. His heart broke when he saw Dream as a stone statue, and even though everyone was gone, he kept coming back there regularly, as if hoping one day he would find his friend alive and well.

Meanwhile, Nightmare built that dark castle he’s known to have and (maybe?) an army of dark Papyri to help him. However, the comic this was first shown in depicted Dream under their custody – this is no longer canon, as Dream was never taken there and was instead left in the village.

Later on, Lanny, the guardian of the Tree of Magic, traveled over to where Dream was. Being overprotective, Neil threatened her to get away from him, but after exchanging some words they made up their minds to get Dream out of there and find a way to help him together. Lanny told Neil that the magic of the Yggdrasil (aka the Tree of Magic) could heal Dream, however she was only a materialization and couldn’t do anything outside of her world. Neil decided to take Dream there himself, then.

They set up a plan, but when Neil came back for the statue, it was gone. Earlier on, Nightmare had moved it to a deep fissure in the center of the village where the main town used to be to stop Neil from finding it. When he did, he was ambushed by Nightmare and his ‘ally’, Ccino, a Sans from an AU called Fluffytale.

Before all of this happened, Nightmare had found Ccino being beaten up by some undefined people. He enjoyed this at first, but the memories of the real Nightmare about being bullied made him snap and he killed the assailants. When Ccino thanked him, Nightmare only told him that he didn’t do it for him, he did it for him, his ‘real’ self. After that began a toxic relationship between the two, the only canon pairing in Dreamtale thus far. Ccino felt protected with Nightmare, and because he was someone depressive, Nightmare let him stay close; since he fed on negative feelings, he was like a constant charger for him, and he used that to his advantage. He felt nothing for him, and that was the only reason they were together. It was a deal: if Ccino said he no longer wanted to be with him, Nightmare would most likely kill him.

Both of them attacked Neil as he tried to get Dream away from there, but he still made it to the point where Lanny was waiting for him in order to teleport him to her world without Nightmare following. There, Lanny explained that the magic that had turned Dream to stone didn’t actually come from the Yggdrasil but from extremely powerful hatred, and she was no longer sure the Tree itself could do anything for him. After this, it’s unknown what exactly happens to any of the three, though Neil is known to end up dying and Lanny eventually becomes Dream’s teacher and trainer. He was still stuck in stone for 400+ years, though.

Before or after Dream is set free, Nightmare will try to snatch the fruits from the two remaining trees, actually managing to steal one (from which tree is still unknown). * There was a comic, probably separate from the ongoing one, that showed Dream finding his brother, just like he used to be, apparently dead. While he mourned him, the little, purple fireball that represented his true form appeared out of nowhere, telling him that he was indeed dead. At some point after that, the corrupted Nightmare attacked Dream, and tore off his cape while he was trying to escape. This is where Dream realized his brother was gone. The cape he wears with his new attire is the same one, except he fixed it up as best as he could.

Endings:

Dreamtale has four endings: good, bad, neutral and true. The upcoming comic revolves around the true ending. - In the bad ending, Nightmare manages to kill Dream and obtain the last golden apple, making him extremely powerful and filling the world with despair. - In the neutral ending, Dream manages to kill Nightmare, but saves one last black apple which he then takes back to what’s left of the Tree of Feelings and joins with his own, burying them together like seeds. This ends up killing him, though. The two halves of the apples make the Tree regrow and everything rewind to the day they were born, much like a reset. This ending will keep repeating everything over and over again, and it’s described as the worst one because of it. - In the true ending, Dream becomes a real guardian after defeating his brother in likely a different way than in the neutral ending. He manages to unleash his full power, this breaking his skeleton body and giving him a more humanoid appearance. - The good ending is the only one that hasn’t been specified yet.

Character facts:

Dream:

- If Dream had been the bullied one, he would have held on throughout the years. Nightmare, being made of negative feelings, couldn’t help feeling overwhelmed by the hatred, even if he used to be the more brash of the two brothers, but Dream wouldn’t have let it get to him.

- Dream always spent a lot of time with Nightmare, healing him when he was hurt and even breaking the presents people gave him to make new ones for his brother after realizing he never got anything. He really looked up to him.

- Dream is very strong, stronger than his brother before the corruption. He can easily lift boulders and other similarly heavy objects without much strain. Dream’s strength is shown in a comical way in, well, the comic, with him easily lifting a stack of heavy concrete bricks while Neil only carried some hay, prompting him to silently say “f*cking kid…” - The reason why Dream remained clueless after being freed, depicted as having the mentality of a kid, was because he was deprived of his senses for four centuries, and he was physically 6 when the incident happened. He had no way to learn about the world while he was trapped, until Lanny (most likely) told him everything. - Once Dream gets his new attire, his weaponry changes with him. His arrows are made of positive feelings, which he takes from those around him (this will directly affect them: if someone is really happy and Dream shoots an arrow thanks to those feelings, said person will go from being joyful to just being neutral – never negative in any way). His bow can also split into two daggers joined by the bowstring, however he only uses this when absolutely necessary. - He has to constantly hop between timelines to stay away from Nightmare and to keep spreading positivity, as his aura is not strong enough to reach every universe if he stays still. - He has a deep respect for Error, since he knows that if he doesn’t keep the AUs balanced, everybody would die. Nightmare:

- Before the bullying started, Nightmare was the more cocky and proud of the brothers. He has always been the more serious one, and is always interested in learning - both normal and corrupted, each in their own ways for their own purposes. - Nightmare doesn’t actually have 999 souls, just one, the first apple he ate. The rest are that black goo that surrounds him, an extremely powerful shield that renders him invulnerable to most things; if he were stabbed with something, his body would absorb it and there would be no damage. - Despite shown using one in that outdated comic, Nightmare can’t actually use Gaster Blasters of any kind. - The corrupted Nightmare never lies, only hides the truth. He also takes deals very personally and will not hesitate to kill whoever backs off from them (even if he rarely attacks people physically, mostly as a threat). - The real Nightmare is still in the mind of the corruption, reminding him of important things such as Dream being his brother and all the psychological damage he went through because of the villagers. - His aura can affect the entire universe he’s in, and many others that are close enough. He doesn’t need to move much to spread negativity. - Unlike his brother, Nightmare has no respect whatsoever for Error or for anyone who protects the balance of the multiverse. He doesn’t care if Undertale and its AUs die off, as he knows there are many other worlds out there. He still would rather not have any massive massacres, as it would take away the negative power he can obtain from people.

** Dream and Nightmare are rather complex characters, as there are certain things they cannot do or feel because they are driven by more negative or positive energy than anybody else has. This limits their actions and gives them a certain way to behave, ie Dream’s incapability to hate people, (non-corrupted)Nightmare’s instant lack of self-esteem when put under pressure, Nightmare’s lack of love or empathy, Dream’s urge to save any world no matter what… All of this is caused by the energy they are made of and what the world has taught them. Neil:

- He’s about 40 years old. - After losing his home and his family, he headed off to live in the mountains. He was hostile to people because he didn’t want their pity, which prompted them to gossip and say things like he was the one who started the fire. - More than a friend, Neil saw Dream as the son he’d lost, very few times calling him by his own name and rather using words like kid, boy, etc. He becomes very protective of him and would gladly give his life to keep him safe. Nim:

- She’s never been fond of mortal life, seeing everyone as careless, greedy creatures. - Nim didn’t entirely die until the corrupted Nightmare destroyed the Tree; she lived within it, and could still reappear every once in a while, though as a spirit. Lanny:

- Being an elf herself, the village that surrounds her Tree is populated only by elves. She doesn’t like monsters around the village, as they take too much of the magic the Yggdrasil emanates, which keeps her and the other elves young and gives them longer lifespans. - Lanny refers to Nightmare as a monster, since she hates him with all her heart for destroying the Tree of Feelings, killing all the people in the village, endangering Dream and thus the precarious balance of feelings, trying to steal the fruits, and etc. She’s generally angry for many of the things that have happened. - Her wings are not real wings; she can fly (maybe just hover), but not thanks to them. They are an aesthetic, used to make her look prettier according to her. They are an extension of her magic that she can shape at will.

Quetzalcoatl:

- His true form consists of two giant snakes, one that controls life and other that controls death. They can fuse together to create the human-ish form he’s usually depicted in.

Fun Facts:

- Before eating the apples, Dream and Nightmare could not feel people’s emotions. At the same time, they didn’t radiate any kind of positive or negative energy, since the power emitted by the fireballs was something that couldn’t be perceived. - Dream could have a very, very slim chance to bring Nightmare back without killing him, but odds are he would be the one to die in the attempt: there is a chance that if he touches his soul, a black apple after all, he would turn it golden. However, it’s not bound to work with so much negativity surrounding him, and his arm could start to melt if he tried such thing.

- Dream and Nightmare cannot control people’s dreams or nightmares. At max, Nightmare can mess with people’s minds using what they fear or hate the most to his advantage, this way creating hallucinations and making them eventually go crazy until they can’t keep holding on, and Dream can make people feel better and safer.

- The 3 guardians are all based on mythological creatures; Nim is something of Greek origin (not specified, likely a dryad), Lanny is an elf, and Quetzalcoatl is based on the Aztec god of the same name. They don’t have their own names; they simply took them from things that interested them, as they can watch every world that surrounds them. - The apples of the Tree of Life are not edible; they are made out of glowing blue crystal. When people die, their souls travel inside these apples. Then, when they are thrown to the ground, these souls break free and are reborn into different people, in different worlds. Thus, the circle of life. - Reaper (not exactly the same Reaper/Death/Sans from the Reapertale we all know) has been rumored to have a role in the AU, eventually.

how i found Underverse was when i heard so much cool stuff about it when i was really getting into Undertale and when i checked it out i was blown away and amazed of the art, animation, the music, the characters, everything. i enjoyed it so much and it inspired me in so many ways to create something that is special to me and in my own unique way and that is what i aim to do thanks to Jakei and Nyx for inspiring me. please also share how you found Underverse and Xtale and please share some love. <3

if it's okay can you do a cross x reader oneshot with fluff. where the reader is from underswap with swap sans and she knows ink and dream as well and swap papyrus and swap sans are like brothers to the reader cause they did free the underground in their universe. Crushing

"Saaans! I'm ready to go now!" You call out, currently standing in the middle of your living room of the house you've been sharing with the skeleton brothers for quite some time. Sitting patiently on the couch behind you is Stretch, who's been scrolling on his phone for nearly half an hour and occasionally showing you something funny he stumbles across. After a few crashes and thuds and what you think sounds like the squeak of a dog toy, you spot Blue popping his head out from upstairs.

"Alright, I'm Ready As Well! Thank You For Being Patient With Me, I Had To Find My Cape. Papyrus, Can You Maaaybe.." He looks at his younger brother, pleading and silently asking a question to which he deadpans to.

"sans, i am not watching over berry today. i'm not in the mood." He crosses his arms, remembering the little delinquent's last shenanigans when he'd stayed in your home. The last thing he needs is to have to put up with that childish little brat again.

"Please, Just This Once! I Have To Have A Meeting With Dream And Ink And Possibly Go On A Mission! And If He's There In The Line Of Fire, Should Nightmare And The Others Show Up.." "doesn't he have a comically large knife? he'll be fine."

"Please, Paps? Just for today, then you can have the whole rest of the month without having to put up with him." You offer, Blue smiling hopefully at your offer. Stretch contemplates, before sighing.

"okay fine, but JUST for today. you owe me." He points at you both, earning a nod as Blue opens up a portal for you both to enter.

"Thank You, Paps! I'll Make It Up To You, Promise. Okay..You Remember The Nickname, Right?" He turns to you with the friendly smile you've always known. "Yep, call you Blue in front of the others. I won't forget." You give him a thumbs up, and he gives you a pat on the back before you both walk inside, watching as the portal closes behind you.

You both walk along a pure white hallway, the light causing your eyes to squint so you focus your attention on Blue, who's simply humming a familiar tune as you both move quickly along.

"Um, so..do you maybe think that.." You trail off, your face warming a little. Blue perks up at this, smiling slyly as he turns to you.

"That Cross Is Here? I'm Sure He Is, He's Been Spending A Lot Of Time With Us Since He Escaped Nightmare's Castle. Whyyy, You Excited To See Him?" He teases, grinning as you furrow your brows as you look at him, giving him a nudge in the shoulder.

"Sans! Don't be so loud, you jerk-" You cross your arms as you walk, earning a chuckle from the skeleton beside you.

"I Think It's Cute That You Like Him. You Should Tell Him!" He offers, perking up a little. You stammer over your words for a second before you reply coherently.

"No way! I couldn't do that! He- I.. I wouldn't want to ruin things between us, okay? I'm content with just..being friends." You hold one of your arms as Blue comes to a stop, putting both his hands on your shoulders so you look into his eyelights.

"You And I Both Know That's Bullshit." He deadpans, earning a scoff and slight laugh from you.

"Blue! What would Paps say?" "I'm A Grown Ass Man, I Can Swear From Time To Time! And I Need You To Come To Terms With Your Feelings For A Certain Angsty Guy." "Never telling him." "Hmmm. We'll See." He lets go of you as you both finally reach the Star Headquarters, Dream running up to you both as he notices you and giving you a quick hug. You smile at his warmth, feeling his positivity overtake your body and soul.. he smells like vanilla today, it's nice.

"Hello, you two! I'm so happy to see you again! Blue, Ink's waiting in the meeting room for you with some hot chocolate." He smiles, the skeleton beside you cheering before walking inside to chat with him.

"How've you been, Dream? I've been wondering what you've been up to." You walk beside him, watching as he fidgets with his gloves.

"Ah, I've been wonderful! Mainly practicing with my new camera. I've realized I absolutely love photography! Being able to appreciate nature's gifts by capturing them forever..it's so wonderful! I've even got some pictures from battles, if you'd like to see them. A personal favorite of mine is Blue being launched out of a cannon Fresh!Ink created. He moved so fast!"

"You have got to send me a digital copy of that, I'll show it to Papyrus." You snicker, Dream letting out a little chuckle in return as he assures you he will. When you finally enter, his words begin to somewhat muffle as your attention is brought to Cross, who's simply sitting on a couch in the living room and looking at the new phone Dream had got him a few weeks ago, a few stickers having been slapped onto the case by Ink.

He doesn't seem to notice you're there until he hears Dream's voice, snapping out of a trance almost as his eyelights slowly rise to you. You feel your breath catch as you come to a loss for words, face heating up a little at his acknowledgement of you. He averts his eyes when he realizes he'd been staring too long, cheekbones dusting with a light shade of purple. You decide to do the same, oblivious to Dream smiling smugly at the both of you as he excuses himself for the "Meeting".

It's quiet for a little bit. You find yourself unable to speak up, and Cross finds himself unable to look you directly in the eye. Every time you open your mouth you just find yourself closing it again, before you let out a huff and just walk over to sit a good distance from him. He seems a little startled by this, but he doesn't say anything.

Your focus is shifted slightly when you hear Blue send Berry off to your home 'verse, smiling a little at the idea of him running around everywhere to Stretch's dismay. Well, at least there'll be some peace here.. You shift your focus back to Cross.

Your eyes go wide in surprise when you realize he's been staring at you, his face flushing at being caught. He quickly looks away, clearing his throat.

"Um..hey there. ..Haven't seen you in a while. Been busy?"

Oh, he's initiating the conversation this time. That's a first. Well don't just sit there, answer him!

"OH! Uh-" You clear your throat. You've got this. "Not really, just been kinda hanging out at home and practicing my music. You um..you wanna hear something? I could play for you, if you're uhh..if you're cool with that."

"..Yeah. Play something you like." He relaxes his posture a bit, resting his arms over his lap. Wow, does he look handsome right now..you shake your head at the thought, opening up your Inventory.

*You equip the Old Guitar. Still in perfect condition.

Your guitar manifests in your hands, and you adjust its positioning so it's more comfortable to play. You try to think of a song you both happen to like, beginning to play the notes you're thankful you memorized. He recognizes the melody almost immediately, smiling a little in reply. You almost slip up at the sight of it, internally swearing and hoping he didn't notice.

While distracted by your thoughts, you don't seem to notice the way his eyes have softened as he watches you. His smile is fond and warm, almost as much as Dream's usually is, but with so much more..meaning behind it. He raises an arm, resting his elbow on one of his legs and resting his cheek on his palm as he begins humming along to the tune.

You find yourself joining in without even realizing it, the sound seeming to drown out any other noises around. Dream shuts Ink up mid sentence as the three skeletons listen in via the door to the Meeting Room, grinning at the fact you both are spending time together.

When you finish the song, you slowly open your eyes, freezing when you realize just how close the both of you had gotten to each other. His hand is resting at your side, his face mere inches from yours. Your eyes both go wide at the revelation, and he backs up quickly. Were you both about to-?!

You put your hands over your flushed face, blindly feeling around for your guitar as you put it back in your inventory. Cross coughs a few times, a hand over his teeth as he composes himself. He can't believe his own boldness..

The peace is interrupted when you hear the sound of crashing outside, Ink and the others running to attention. The two of you simply get up and take action as well, going through a portal Ink hastily paints to go confront your opponents.

The fight goes like they normally do, both parties do some damage and are sent right back to their respective home bases. However, the whole time you found yourself slipping a bit, watching Cross fight and thinking about the moment you'd shared a little bit ago..which earns a few shouts from Blue to get your attention again. You're their best defense after all, gotta prioritize your shield!

It's fairly dark out by the time you return to the Doodlesphere, Ink having set up a day/night cycle for the base for more immersive purposes. ..Plus he'd been forgetting to sleep, so it's good for his schedule. The Star Trio stands inside, laughing and talking to themselves about something for a bit. You slowly slip back outside after a moment, unaware of the narrowed eyelights watching as you go.

You climb up a ladder Ink had painted for you, standing on the roof of the massive building. Ink had truly designed it with creativity in mind, various rooms, tunnels and random exits anywhere you look. You can even spot a slide coming out of one of his room's windows that he'd often use to sneak out and prank the others before they woke up. You can spot Cross' new room near the guest room, customized to his liking. It suits him..

You sit on the edge, dangling your legs and looking up at the simulated stars. Not quite as good as the real thing from back home, but you can work with this. You reach your hand up, closing it around a heart locket dangling from your neck. Letting out a frustrated sigh, you abruptly lie back, arms resting at your sides and spread out.

"This is such a pain! Why is it so hard to tell Cross how I feel? Why can't I just tell him the truth? I mean, yeah, I'm not a Bravery soul. But still, why is it so hard to just say that I like him?" You groan, putting your hands over your face. You freeze when you hear the sound of footsteps moving across the rooftop, slowly pulling your hands down. Cross stands over you with a smile, a browbone raised as he looks over your state.

"..Cross. How much did you hear?" Your heart quickens. Oh stars-

"Just the end part, so I don't..really have context, but you seem to be stressed about something. ..Maybe you could talk about it with me?" He offers, shrugging a bit. You sit up and pat the spot beside you, him sitting with you in an awkward silence.

You fidget with your hands, trying to figure out how to approach this topic. It's the perfect opportunity. You just have to figure out when to..ease into it.

"It's gorgeous out tonight, isn't it?" That's a good start, a simple topic.

He looks over at you, focusing on your face as you spot a constellation. His hand slowly slides over to yours, fingers brushing lightly against your own.

"..Yeah, it is."

You look over as his fingers intertwine with yours, slowly looking up at his eyelights. He gives you that same fond smile you'd missed earlier, leaving you breathless. Your face darkens deeply as he chuckles, his own face dusted with a beautiful shade of purple.

"Cross, I um.." Go on, you can do this. You take a deep breath as he reaches his other hand up to your shoulder reassuringly.

"..I really like you, Cross. I have for a really long time, and I haven't been able to figure out how to tell you because I was scared it would mess things up, especially if you didn't feel the same, and I just- fuck, this is NOT easy-" You let out a little laugh, tears staring to prick at the corners of your eyes as you brace for rejection, but..it never comes. Instead, you get a much more precious reaction.

The way his eyes seem to light up at the words to match the stars above you both. The way he has that shocked expression, mouth slightly parted to say something and him struggling to find the right words. The way that look slowly melts back into fondness as he reaches up to wipe your tears away..

"Oh, thank the stars. I thought I was on my own here." He whispers with relief, leaving you gaping at him. He felt the same?! How long has he?-

He pulls you close, giving you a warm hug. You rest your head on his shoulder, letting out a breath you hadn't realized you were holding.

"So..what..are we now?" You ask, voice quiet. "Well..what do you want to be?" "..Together, if..that's okay with you."

You both break apart, and shift a little so you can rest your head on his shoulder. You smile as you feel his arm go around your shoulders, relaxing in what might be your new favorite spot. You both don't say anything for a good while, until Dream calls for you both from the front door. Before you both have to part for the night, you give him a quick kiss on the cheek, leaving his skull a bright shade of purple as you run away with a laugh, the other skeletons almost immediately choosing to tease him about it.
