(finally decided to post my sabo rant lol)

Look at him. LOOK AT HIM.

 This man ran away from high class society and rejected the government at age five. His dumb ass decided to befriend ace, who at the time was the equivalent of a feral gremlin child who beat up people in bars (rightfully so). He suggested that they kill luffy.

And then, oh then he was like fuck this and ran off and (died) joined the revolutionary.

AND YOU KNOW WHAT HE DID THERE. BEAT UP MORE PEOPLE. SAID FUCK YOU TO THE GOVERNMENT. PROBABLY BURNED DOWN A FEW CORRUPT COUNTRIES. CRIED A BIT.

Ace? The one you say is the irresponsible brother? He stayed AT HOME. And raised LUFFY. Learned MANNERS. Became a captain. Which means he raised a child who decided stabbing himself was a good idea and made sure he reached adulthood, tried to better himself to thank someone for saving his brother’s life, learned to be responsible for others, after taking care of Luffy, made his crew survive into the new world and sacrificed himself so his crew would get away. 

AND THEN. He became a white beard! Lead an entire division! We see him asking for permission from Whitebeard to go after teach, or at the very least telling him what he was doing! A good boy! Trusts in his brothers! Cares for them!! Makes sure his brothers crew is okay for him!! Saves his brother!!  

RESPONSIBLE!

NOW BACK TO SABO. 

NOW LOOK AT HIM. 

THIS MAN MAKES HIS CAREER RUINING NOBLES CAREERS. HE REGULARLY IGNORES MEETINGS TO SAY HI TO LUFFY, DOESN’T TELL ANYONE. LOVES HIS BROTHER BUT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE. TOO MUCH GUILT. IF LUFFY ASKED HIM TO TAKE DOWN AN ENTIRE CITY HED BE LIKE FUCK YEA. ACE WOULD TOO BUT HED BE MORE CAREFUL. SABO? NEEDS SUPERVISION. ABSOLUTELY BATSHIT. IS ABSOLUTELY FERAL. WILL BURN DOWN EVERYTHING. ANARCHY IS IS GOAL. 

Ace was also kind enough to let us know when he died sabos just a mystery which means he’s irresponsible as fuck.

In conclusion; 

ace is the most responsible brother of ASL, learned from older sibling energy and learning to raise luffy and protect his crew as captain. Sabo is a dumbass and absolutely not responsible, based on fucking off on his job which is based on saying fuck you to authority. Will burn down anything without question, regret consequences later. (In aces case, he will think about the consequences first, regret them, burn anything anyway.) Luffy is responsible for 9 people and the downfall of several government institutions. Luffy is not responsible. Sabo is not responsible. Ace is the most responsible. If you must write them (highly encouraged, you all are very talented) please take this into consideration. Thank you. 

PS. This by no means means that any of the asl boys should be trusted with authority. They are in canon, and it is a disaster. the world is crumbling at their feet. I love them.

This is important

I find I have to mention this to people a lot: the way to check your own fandom racism or anti-blackness isn’t how you react to the flawless POC characters, but how you react when POC characters have flaws. 

Like, I’ve known people who tear down Simone from The Good Place, and when I pointed out that none of her flaws are even close to those of Eleanor, from season one or even currently, and suggested that they should consider whether biases are influencing their hatred for the character, they cited their love for Shuri from Black Panther, and characters like her. Shuri is not a hard character to love; she never challenges the audience to see her in a complex way. She is funny, smart, and never burdensome to anyone.

Myself, I hated Katara from Avatar when I was younger. Now, I am able to identify the internalized misogyny and racism in my dislike for her; I hated her because she was inconvenient at times and wasn’t always nice to the characters I liked. Similar deal with Frank Zhang from Heroes of Olympus. But both of those characters (and all characters) were significant for what they represented.

Fandom racism isn’t just hating POC characters for no reason or ignoring POC ships; it also manifests in the double-standard where we’re willing to forgive white characters for more things than POC characters.

mihawk now has to put up with buggy. this is pure comedy, every second of it. shanks would love it so much. he wants to be invited to the party I bet

crocodile and mr 3 probably have the most awkward working relationship known to man. like crocodile tried to kill him remember. and then he decided to follow this random ass clown pirate instead. now that clown pirate is an emperor. but still a fucking loser. and crocodile is ALSO working for him. what a beautiful mess.

I bet crocodile is trying to use buggy for his own gain somehow but I’ll bet anything that he ends up doing nothing but helping buggy succeed even further. buggy unintentionally ruins all of croc’s evil plans while croc unintentionally pushes buggy into a kind of success he definitely didn’t plan for at all. crocodile is gonna be so fucking mad about it I just know it and it’s gonna be amazing to watch

if law is convinced, even for a small moment, that buggy is the real deal, almost everyone will. very likely all of the supernovas. more importantly, possibly also blackbeard. watch him miscalculate something in his evil plan because he foolishly thinks another yonkou might pose a challenge to him

one day zoro is gonna challenge mihawk for a very serious duel about the title of the greatest swordsman in the world, but before that he’s gonna have to ask “so why do you work for the clown luffy could beat up before we even ran into you at baratie” and even worse, mihawk will have to answer that

The picture of edas friends as children, reminding us that all these adults, allies and villains alike, were once children. They were abused and indoctrinated by the same system that some of them are using to abuse and indoctrinate kids now. A few of them like alador and darius were able to see whats wrong and fight for a better world. But people like odalia sided with the emperor until it was too late because thats the only thing theyve ever known. And then it cuts to adult lilith and raine and shows how a lifetime of living under this system has sapped the joy out of them. How as kids they never would have thought to make their last stand against they system thats been there their whole lives. Its the lifetime of trauma and the perpetuation of the cycle of abuse for me
