Those comics where they have Ocelot pining for Big Boss, but is aware enough to know he won't love him back in the same way, is just grossly heart wrenching — the sort where you'd put 30 stab wounds in someone, because you don't have the capacity to make something equally as bittersweet.
Even when he's happy for him, it's still a pretty tough pill to swallow, with the level of unconditional love he seems to put into his work for him.
Ocelot does seem like a lone wolf, but he still has EVA to keep him in check, and vice-versa.
Not necessarily does it mean he has to fall in love with her (although, I'm aware that's almost 90% of my page), the part that worsens it is when EVA's pining too.
Pining for Big Boss? No doubt she misses Big Boss too, but emotionally not equivalent to Ocelot.
It's not a competition, after establishing a close comradery between themselves, she would mostly not be so selfish. But between her and him, one of them clearly knows Big Boss more on an emotional level, isolating one perhaps.
Since MGS3, EVA's observed Ocelot and Big Boss and how they interact with each other, and sometimes even gets jealous of how well they work.
She couldn't get Big Boss' love until the very end, but even Big Boss enjoys even when Ocelot's being persistent. Big Boss gladly agrees to join the Patriots when Ocelot requests of it.
There's not much given about EVA interacting with anyone else in such manner, or even hear of such relationship betweem her and another; not even Ocelot mentions her in this manner.
She's seems very separated between the three of them, only being second thought, despite what she's also done to help their cause — even looking somewhat inferior with the lack of knowledge about her involvement.
What Ocelot and Big Boss have in closeness, EVA could probably yearn for with another. Ocelot wouldn't be jealous of EVA, it would mostly be the opposite.
When Big Boss is happy, Ocelot's happy. When Ocelot's happy that Big Boss is happy, EVA's happy, because at least those she cares about can be content.
*This is a very loose headcanon, plain with not a lot of ingredients, but even the simple things get me emotional. idk if I'll make one of these again, or if this'll even stay up, but it's always fun to write these.

As a child of a Gang member, you don't have much choice, but to join the Same Gang, even if it lead your father to tragic final.
As pretty much only kid in whole Gang, he didnt really had an one to talk to, but a much older, traumarized with petty gang wars men. Needless to say, that these men never even tried to soften or light up their stories taking with him, so from a very young age he begann to see his life as senseless and sealed.
As a teenager he was often sent on data collection missions, because as a thin and yet not very tall boy he was more successful on this type of missions, than any others.
His careless yet thoughtfull stale of battle gave him lots of scars and a questionable reputation. Didnt help, that closer to his adolsense he became pretty closed and cold.
Unlike most of his colleagues, he didnt saw any fun in battles and torture. And with every passing day everything was becoming more and more dull.
He didnt saw any sense in changing sides or companies, so he gained himself a Rang in the Gang he was working his whole life with. Later this Gang will be bought by World Marshall Conglomerate, that will Provider money on his new body. And with cybernatic body he will find some Joy in doing his job.

i think he was type of quiet, reading kid, yet didn't have anything particular as his interest. And He was like this his whole youth. Apathic, always bored, yet performing his duties.
After school He didn't have a choise, but to join army, where he firstly tasted a battlefield and, well, Got his adoration for violence.
After returning from battle he tried to settle down in his hometown and even Got a nice girlfriend, but this just never felt right. He was thriving more battle, because he is a man in a metal gear universe.
And he joined a little pmc. Taking jobs, commiting war crimes, making new contacts and climbing up that career ladder felt so much more comfortable, that he just never stoped and never wanted to.
For some time he even was an head manager of pmc he was in, and most of the non-paper work was in recruiting new soldiers. And following in the footsteps of Big Boss, he considered, that Child soldiers were the best recruits. He was later kicked out of that pmc.
He was only of the winds, that made the decision on a new body voluntarily. He started to feel weak as the age was taking over and his employer was right there to offer him a new body.
