Unleash the light is coming to Xbox! I don’t see anyone talking about this but I am super excited to be able to play this game at long last. A bit disappointed that it doesn’t seem to be coming to PC, especially since Microsoft could easily port it over but still! No iPhone needed and no subscription!

Ok so Belos is definitely a human right? I mean all his “powers” are basically just fancy tech.

His staff is made of metal with a wire running through it. No idea where he got the glowy orb or what it is (aside from the obvious power source).

His petrification spell thing looks like he took it right out of a steampunk dystopian novel, complete with green lightning. Its clearly made of copper or bronze and those are flathead screws holding the statue to the base.

And the portal? Aside from being from gravity falls if you replaced the triangles with wings, that guy on top is actually welding it together. He has gas cylinders strapped to his back and the guy on the right is holding a drill. Not an magical equivalent, an actual drill you could buy at the hardware store.

Also worth noting that we never see him using spell circles. I know that a lot of other magic doesn’t seem to need them, like scrolls or the shared harm spell Lilith uses or their flash steps. But at least we see everyone else use the circles sometimes, he just doesn’t.

The interesting thing about this possibility - aside from everything (like how did he get here? Why can’t he go back without eda’s portal? Where did she get it? How long has he known about her key? What’s with the Azura books/movies being in both realms? How did he learn to harness magic like this? How old is he?) is that it raises the possibility that there’s a grain of truth to his claim of speaking to the titan. He would have had to start learning magic like Luz did right? Even Eda who is the ultimate wild witch had no idea how Luz’s magic worked or that it was possible before Luz showed up.

Ok so I think at this point its basically confirmed that the theory of Hazel being a null is correct.

The idea of one-one making her to help the Apex learn a lesson and bring their numbers down is compelling. Especially since one-one...

Mr. Yeah you know what murder would solve the problem would absolutely do this. Morality (and personal agency) is not his strong suit. We don’t know how long Hazel has been with Tuba or how long its been since Lake and Jesse left the train. Its entirely possible that after Lake “tricked” him into thinking she had a number he realized he could put whatever “numbers” he wanted on any denizen.

But I have a different theory. What if One-One didn’t make Hazel.

...what if Amelia did. We know she was trying to make a car with Alrick in it so she’d have to try making people at some point. And as its been established...

She wasn’t very good at making things without turtles. What if Hazel was one of her attempts at making people. It could explain a lot. Hazel doesn’t remember her past but if she was created by the conductor (either one-one or Amelia) then she might just not have one, she could have come into existence at whatever age she is (I don’t think it was mentioned).

As for her number it could be as simple as Amelia not understanding how the number generation system works. A half-hearted attempt at figuring out how the train systems work.

Ok I know they were kind of jerks when we first met them but I love the blight twins. Look at Edric, he’s so shocked!

Super happy that Luz learned a new spell but I am the only one a little concerned that there are other requirements for that class? Does Luz know Basic Runes? I guess she could learn on her own but I can’t see Eda teaching her that, doesn’t seem like her style.

Ok Infinity Train? Obviously a masterpiece. Excellent show. Wraps everything up pretty nicely. I just have one question.

...why the flipping heck does the train have canons attached to the engine? We know the canon is used by the conductor and tulip within the train but that’s obviously not what its designed for. So what is it supposed to do and who (or what) is one-one trying to shoot at?

This is about some Specific Things but honestly? Callout culture is toxic to all involved. Misinformation and rumors spread faster than the truth can hope to catch up to, and people focus on feeling like they’ve defeated someone rather than talking to that person about why their views differ from their own. I won’t lie, I’m an argumentative person, and I know it feels good to feel like you’ve put someone in their place. But just because something feels good doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do.

Don’t like that ship? That’s fine, you don’t have to look at it. Drawings of eye trauma squick you out? Block that shit! And if someone isn’t tagging something you need tagged, then ask them to or just straight-up block their content.

But people are allowed to make things that you personally do not enjoy. That doesn’t make them bad people. That makes them people with different likes and dislikes.

I just wanted these in one place.

This is entirely contrary to my thoughts on the show, but I really hope the Star Vs fandom stays relatively small. Not just for the tight-knit feel (which I absolutely adore), but also because of what happens when fandoms (especially on this hell site) get big.

Star Vs is a fun, light hearted show with some great characters, fantastic writing, and the ability to punch you in the gut immediately after a hilarious gag. A lot of these things aren’t unique to the show. OtGW, AT, SU, GF, MLP, and AtLA had all or most of these elements. It’s part of what made them so good (at least for a while, some got a little stale).

But what separates this show from those ones?

The size of the fandom.

The bigger a fandom gets, the more caustic it starts to become.

Infighting, political controversies, art policing, predominant headcanons and ships, these all start to boil over and taint the entire fandom. It can suck the joy out of interacting with fans. You go from worrying your theory was baseless to worrying the thought police are going to flood your inbox with pro-X or anti-Y literature. It really gets bad when those outside the fandom start chiming in without any context and it gets blown out of proportion.

What worries me is this is starting to happen with Star Vs.

Star is a wonderfully written, beautifully characterized, (and I use this without an ounce of irony) strong female character. She really does embody what I think the term should be used for. She has flaws, they’re not just superficial, and she actively works on them in the show. That said, she’s not totally useless without Marco. She can hold her own and isn’t just a plot device with boobs. She actually feels like the main character. This is rare and it’s nice to see it.

That said, shows like this tend to attract certain crowds. I’m not saying that’s always a bad thing. I understand the desire to praise a show with these strengths. What I’m opposed to, is that it feels like these groups steam roll whatever fandom they latch on to.

What I’m getting at is what’s already in this and any other fandom isn’t going to go away. Since the dawn of the internet, and long before it, people have made fanart and fan theories and fan porn. It’s just how humans are. Tearing apart a fandom isn’t going to make them go away. Upsetting the creators or dragging them into the arguments isn’t going to fix it. The best thing to do is simply ignore it, and let the artists make their art. As long as they’re tagging it with the appropriate tags, it’s only going to show up if you go looking for it.

That said, if it is getting through your censors or leaking into the “safe” tags, don’t be an asshole about it. A kind request for better tagging/hiding/etc is going to be seen as far less incendiary than hate mail, doxxing, and controversy. People generally get defensive and contrarian towards outward hostility.

If your main concern is how safe a show is for kids, the internet has already failed you. It’s not everyone else’s job to make sure kids don’t access porn/violent content/excessive cursing. If it’s in a space designated with active warnings, everything else is on those in charge of the kids. I guarantee most of you reading this looked up content you weren’t supposed to as a child.

If your main concern is that YOU don’t want to see that content, then don’t actively seek it out. Apply filters, request tags, avoid tags known to contain that content, but don’t harass someone for making something you don’t like. It only makes you look like an asshole.

I don’t want this fandom to grow because I don’t want to see it turn into another Steven Universe. Or Undertale. Or MLP. Those fandoms utterly drained my excitement for the content they circled. It’s too much work to not piss off someone and end up with a mountain of hate mail.

I want to keep loving you guys. The content is so good and the fans are (generally) so respectful of each other. Banter is just playful fun. Theories are entertained without being forced on people. There isn’t some omnipresent hivemind dictating the Proper™ way to enjoy things.

You guys are great. I adore every one of you. You’re active and excited and tolerant of each other. I hope it stays that way. At least as long as the show is running. Let’s be the example for every other fandom.

So I came up with this great idea for a fake beard using fiber mascara and I realized there were no tutorials out there for this already. So I made one myself. It works really well and is very realistic!!

switch the POV from your current character to another - a minor character, the antagonist, anyone

stop writing whatever scene you’re struggling with and skip to the next one you want to write

write the ending

write a sex scene

use a scene prompt

use sentence starters

read someone else’s writing

Never delete. Never read what you’ve already written. Pass Go, collect your $200, and keep going.

I don’t think words can express how much I adored, “sworn to the sword.”

Connie and Steven define equality in their relationship over and over again. Their trust and rhythm is completely in tune with one another. Demonstrated when they begin to fight together, they prove to be a pair that need no words in battle.

Steven was supportive and excited when Connie began to train, but his enthusiasm faded fast when Connie began to demonstrate her willingness to put herself at unnecessary risk for his sake. He didn’t want Connie to feel as though his life were any more important than her own. It’s a wonderful lesson. Because he didn’t say, “no, you’re more important than I am.” Instead, he just wanted to fight with her. Subtlety sharing the message that their lives have equal value.

Just because he had a Gem didn’t make him special. Just because she was a human didn’t mean she was fragile. He protects Connie because he loves her and because he is her shield, she can be his sword.

I love Steven Universe and I so glad that children have something like this to teach them values that truly matter.
