Being in a relationship with the doctor was always so hard. You thought, at one point, that it would be as simple as breathing. And it was... at first.

Too fast it turned into a chore in Dottore's point of view. Loving you, that is.

All too often you would find yourself in the presence of one of his clones. He would try to pass the clone as himself, but you would always be able to tell.

You were being too much. Too clingy. Too doting. Too nagging. Too needy. Words as such as those always seemed to leave the doctor's mouth.

So when he left for Sumeru, you finally had some time to think by yourself.

And when his clones started to disappear, right then and there you decided to leave.

If he would try to find you one day, you weren't sure, but being on your own definitely beats being called too much just because you love him.

I feel like a lot of people misunderstand the relationship between Verlaine and Chuuya. There's a lot of argument over whether they're biologically brothers or not. That's not the point. The point is how they came into the world and their unnatural birth. Or, at least, how Verlaine perceives it. He sees both him and Chuuya as artificial beings that will never be human no matter how hard they may try, so they may as well stop trying to fit in with these disgusting humans and just find solace in each other. He calls Chuuya his brother because he feels like he's the only one who can truly understand what he's going through. Their "brothership" stems from their shared existence as artificial beings. This is why Chuuya rejects it so violently at first. He doesn't want to be anything like the man who slaughtered his friends. He wants to be human.

Then, throughout the book, Chuuya comes to accept that however he came into this world, naturally or otherwise, he chooses to be human, and that's what it's important. His actions are what make him human. Verlaine learns this, too, but it's already far too late. He, too, had the chance to be human, but he was too focused on the possibility of being inhuman instead of actually trying to be a good person or to accept the care and support of his friend, Rimbaud, and now, he's gone. That is the tragedy of his story. He always had the opportunity to be human, but he threw it away for the sake of anger and hatred.

Only when they have both learned this lesson that Chuuya accepts Verlaine as his brother. Not because they're biologically related or anything, but because they do have this shared experience with one another, and he's here for him. Not because he forgives him for what he did. But because he has an opportunity to be better.

I love stormbringer. It's so good. Anyone reading this who hasn't read it, READ IT!! IF YOU LIKE CHUUYA AT ALL, YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK! IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO HIS CHARACTER!

capitano runs into you by chance. it's a cold day in snezhnaya, as it usually was. the snow fell slowly, the sun was hidden behind grayish-white clouds, and the soles of his winter boots crunched hard into the ground. he expected nothing from the day nor from the people he would run into.

until he saw you.

"sir! sir!"

you were out of breath when you had caught up to him, your breath heaving heavily as you took a hold of his sleeve.

"what is it?"

he didn't try to hide his disdain or the fact that you were bothering him, but that didn't deter you. not in the slightest.

and you smiled at him. breathless and bright-eyed before raising your other hand, in it was a flower.

"for you, sir. i hope you have a wonderful day!"

you were a florist. your little shop being something he casually passed by without a second glance.

he took the flower you offered to him, and bid you farewell, but this time with a softer tone than before.

and as you ran off back to the front of your shop to get more flowers for each passerby, he decided that maybe he would walk down this road again tomorrow.

Remember when Yae Miko used the traveler as her transportation device to the plain of euthymia to be abel to meet with Ei? Such a Dazai move for real!

But in case ya'll are wondering about where that idea came from, I read a fanfic a while ago that had Dazai and Chuuya as Yae Miko and Ei and this exact thing popped up in my head and I had to scratch the itch. That being said, I really did enjoy modifing the designs so that they can match the bsd folks and it's so much fun drawing them like that so you can expect more in the future.
