I realise now why I don't like reading first person POV fanfics.

Nobody ever writes them correctly. Instead of writing with the personality of the character, the character ends up sounding so detached from the events. It's like they're the faceless narrator recording the events and then jump in to interact when it's their turn to talk.

Just saw someone try to write Danny in the first person POV. The writing was fine, but the POV wasn't POVing.

Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is an excellent example of a successful first person POV.

I remember reading the book for the first time at 13. I've never read a book with a first person POV until then and for a while I wrote a lot of my stories with that POV.

I suck at writing first person POV these days. Unfortunately knowing why I suck doesn't help me suck any less 🥲

i sat down intending to draw dcdp stuff and then spent like 2-3 hours scribbling older/king danny designs. woops lol

lalalaaaaa au time. dont tag as ship or i will end you. ik it isnt super original but something something two cakes

the gist: instead of dying later in life, both danny and vlad were stillborns and turned half ghost after being resuscitated. their parents were told they had died and they were shipped off to the pentagon as little babies to be studied. theyre the same ages as in canon, they just grew up differently

they moved to amity park after they escaped because of the high level of ghost activity, wanting to learn more about other ghosts. they don't know about danny's birth parents living there YET. they only got out in like june and the actual story i imagine starts in the september of the same year after vlad and danny learn that its illegal to not have danny in school. they're super unfamiliar with the outside world and are super weird. they're rich but only because they do crimes for money (mostly theft), and because of that and not legally existing, they only use cash

their ghost forms are in medical gear because thats the only environment they've ever known and they can't really conceptualize themselves in anything else. they wear their hair long and down to cover up the spots of hair that the scientists lasered off to have easier access to their brains.

danny learned the ghostly wail early and uses it often enough (along with a few other voice based projectiles) that he's classified as a banshee subtype of ghost. he has very strong projectiles but his punches hit like wet paper bags. vlad is well rounded in his skills and very strong, but he and danny are VERY unused to fighting and are therefore pretty bad at it.

they're eventually nicknamed by the public "the doctor ghost and his patient", eventually shortened to "doctor" and "patient".

they're very close and consider each other family, but they don't put a specific label on it like father and son. every time they hug, it's as if they had been reunited after a war. they're used to being jostled around by scientists and so are very comfortable touching each others' hair, cuddling, etc and dont quite understand other people's physical boundaries for a while. they're protective of each other to the point of violence.

Hey so I like broke my back drawing hunched over for six hours last night so- No performance au art or art in general for probably the next few days, I just need a small break from it, sorry!

I do have an idea for how I could do the story though, I personally feel like it wouldn't be as impactful as a comic, but I still want to do art for the story, so I was thinking of a combination, but I don't know what I'd do... Thoughts?

I don't know how I feel about the green, oh well, I've already done a full illustration that'll be posted separately. Still too lazy to look up a reference for a NASA hoodie. Gave into temptation, got rid of the umbrella.

I like D and A the best, I might go with D because the jacket gives this nice royal cape look!

I'm going to do and colour a few sketches to get a feel for it! Tempted to get rid of the umbrella... -_-

Nevermind, I got them finished! I present, Performance AU designs!

I like C the best overall, but I might do some versions where I add D's jacket and/or B's shorts and stockings. I'm not proud of A tbh.

I don't know if I want to do the umbrella, a cane or no prop. I like the idea of the umbrella being a weapon, but then again, Danny doesn't tend to use weapons very often :/

I'll put some coloured versions of one of the designs once I get it down! I'm also scared that they don't look much like Danny and I can't tell if that's because it has no colour or if it's just a style thing... Then again, I guess the whole point of the AU is that he's pretending to be something he's not so-

I'm having a lot of fun for the Performance AU, enough that I'm thinking of even naming it... I was pretty busy today so I didn't get them done but there's four mock up designs for Danny's royal attire coming soon! :D

I ended up doing little sketches cause I'm having fun with this. It looks much better in person I swear. I tried to do some neck crown but I don't know if you can really tell. Also I don't know what a NASA hoodie would look like, forgive me. Too lazy to find a reference.

Okay okay okay long post but,

I need to say this cause it's nearly midnight and this idea is keeping me awake! Please tell me if you like the sound of the idea or if you think it's a bit of a stretch lol

So I started thinking about this today and cannot stop but y'know those Danny Phantom AU where Danny has a space obsession but everyone assumes it's actually a protection obsession?? I had an idea where, what if they're not assuming and Danny's pretending to have a protection obsession because he doesn't want his rouges to feel guilty about keeping him from his obsession?

Here me out! What if Danny feels like pretending to have a protection obsession is necessary to keeping his rouges happy and content while fulfilling their obsessions? He wants them to be happy because it means they'll be more satisfied and will come around less (he hopes). His rouges are more than happy to attack because they feel like they're helping Danny fulfill HIS obsession!

Eventually Danny starts to think of it like he's performing for those around him, like he's the star of the show he didn't realize he was in- He finds himself watching plays and operas and broadway shows and he enjoys them?? Which he didn't expect! Soon he becomes a bit obsessed with putting on the perfect performance for others, but obviously that has side effects on his mental health.

Maybe we can bring in some Ghost King Phantom? Like he becomes the Ghost King once he's graduated university or something and to his surprise, Frostbite tells him that he has a new Performance Obsession and of course this can give an opportunity for angsty spirals... Also if I'm being completely honest, the design and personality I have in my head for him is reminiscent of Furina from Genshin Impact, which I'm pretty sure was an accident, especially because I finished the newest quest yesterday... But whatever... I'll worry about it later.

If enough people like the idea I'll probably put a story and designs together, might even throw some dpxdc into the ring who knows, I sure don't! Anyway, my first time actually putting thought into an AU idea and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Let me know what you think!

Got into Danny Phantom a few months ago, still on season one.

Here's some sketches, my camera's sorta dirty so they're kinda blurry-

Danny Fenton really likes his boyfriend, okay.

Him and Damian have been going out for three months already, and he hasn't tried to kill him, doesn't favor Danny over Phantom or vice versa and has helped him with his school work and now Danny's a confident B minus student!

Things are going great!

Which is why he's suprised when he wakes up and finds himself in a cave. Specifically, the Batcave.

Danny respects Damian and his family and their privacy, which is why he hasn't gone down in their basement unless Damian has stated he wants Danny down there. After all, Danny hasn't let Damian down in his basement, solely because he didn't want to freak him out with his parents portal.

They both know their respective families are strange in their own ways, and Damian has admitted he likes not having his family butt into his business. Danny can agree, which is why realizing he's in Damians basement is weird.

Danny has experience with getting kidnapped, so he doesn't panic, obviously. He looks around in amazement of all the stuff in Damians basement, especially the giant penny and Dinosaur.

He also realizes he's not alone, he can't physically see Damians siblings and dad, but he can feel them, especially Jason, who's near the Batmobile. Damians dad is somewhere up on the top of the cave, alongside Damians sister, Cass.

"So, Danny," Dick says, he's the only visible person in the cave and he's wearing his Nightwing suit yet has his domino mask off.

"Hi, Dick." Danny replies back, craning his neck to stare at the display of suits, from here he can't see Damians but knows it's there.

"You and Damian, huh? You've both have been going out for a while already, you two must be getting pretty serious." Dick says, normally he was cheery to the point that it freaked Danny out, but right now he had a small edge to his voice.

"Going on three months, yeah. He's great. Hey, why am I tied up in your dad's basement?" Danny asks, now staring at Dick, confusion lacing his tone.

"Well, as his oldest brother," Dick starts, "and Mother Hen!" Jason yells from the side, getting shushed. "I, as well as our family members, want to make sure Damian's with someone nice who wouldn't break his heart, he's sensitive."

Danny is pretty sure Damian would actually hurt Dick if he heard him say that, especially in front of his family, but he stays quiet.

Without waiting for Danny to speak, Dick barells on, "It's nothing personal, just... the man up there's a bit paranoid, and I am inclined to agree. Which is why we're here."

"I mean, Damian is way out of my league. You could ask anyone, they'd tell you." Danny said, purposely starting something that he'd know would set Dick and Bruce off. "Someone absolutely terrifying and really hot. Like, I have a terrible love life, which is why I'm happy Damian's stuck by me this long, y'know?"

Dick's face pinched around the time Danny started saying Damian was hot and he inwardly smiles, starting to feel anger radiate from the top of the cave all the down to where he and Dick were at.

"Plus, Damian is super smart, my grades have never been higher! And he's really good at fighting, we were play fighting once and he did this one move that threw me on the ground with him on top of me. Not to mention he's crazy flexible, Damian did this one trick that-"

"That's enough." The deep growl of Batman hisses from right behind Danny.

Whoops.

I want this, but like, kinda leaning into Father figure Fright Knight, like, Frighty is so put to protecting Danny, he becomes a new paternal figure on Dannys life, but like, i know it sounds weird to some degree

so, behold! Big brother Frighty.

He just, overprotective, shit talker, done with Danny but doesn’t allow anyone else to be rude to him, he is also very dramatic, will not use any other language that isn’t Ghostspeak just, dramatic, big brother. Yes.

Also, Danny being like “Ugh! How discriminatory, he is a meta, God forbid they dress however they like and act in a not usually socially acceptable way!”

Danny is going to Gotham high which yay for him!

Problem? Right now he's in the office because he may have punched someone while defending damian and now everyone is waiting for his guardian

But clockwork can't come (humans perceive him a bit...well he just can't) and jazz has an important exam

So who's next in line?

Fright Knight! (Okay, technically he's not the Guardian OF Danny but more guarding Danny but details details)

So Fright Knight appears in all of his villain-esque glory and foaming sword

And everyone kinda freaks out because?? Danny, is your guardian a villain? What do you mean 'depends'?? What does the shrugging mean?? No we can't go back to the punch thing-

So while most of the rouges would probably be smart enough to not fuck with the disaster that is Danny “grew up in an OSHA violation” Fenton, the Joker is not most rouges.

This kid wasn’t any different than the rest.

For all the others had been talking about him and hyping him up, he really wasn’t all that special.

He’d hadn’t even put up a fight!

Pathetic.

He’d found the newest addition to the Wayne brood wandering alone, at night! Now that was just asking for something bad to happen.

Hearing a groan from the cameras he turned to face then again.

The boy had finally awoken.

He watched as he looked around at his surroundings.

He put out much less than he normally would, wanting to see if the stories about the boy were true.

He had heard from Killer Croc that the young Wayne had managed to take down all of his goons with nothing but a paper clip and two green post-it notes. Croc didn’t know where the post-it notes had come from, but apparently the paper clip had been found on the floor next to him.

So naturally, he’d left even less for the child to work with.

Only a small decorative Christmas tree and a little red clown nose. It was Christmas Eve after all, and who doesn’t love clowns.

The Batman stared shocked at the mangled broken body, somehow still alive.

Barely, but alive nonetheless.

The only clue as to what had happened was a green post-it note on the Joker’s battered body.

This was my first time writing so I’d really appreciate some thoughts and feedback!

This concept hasn’t left me alone since I saw that “Danny is a chemistry wizard who teaches a chem class, but in a very Fenton way” post, and i need to yell it out into the void.

Danny gets adopted by the batfam, but he’s like that with chemistry and mechanics and it gives them all a stroke. Especially Bruce. Doubly so if Danny is his bio kid or clone or something. 

Danny has an allowance and he buys the most concentrated shit on the market with it because he got bored and wanted to see if he could re-create the fear toxin antidote he saw in the cave, especially since they seem pretty low on it. Do they have to get it from somewhere else? Danny knows the Waynes are rich, but there has to be a better way to do it than buying it for an arm and a leg. Maybe he’ll mess around and do the one for joker venom later. 

Lab safety? Oh, yeah Dick, I’ve got my goggles and gloves and jumpsuit on. Of course I have the hood up. Turn on the vent? What vent? Why would I need a vent? Labels? Dude, look at it, it’s cetrimonium chloride. Oh, yeah, that’s the shampoo i got it from. You’d be surprised how many things you can isolate from household stuff. 

Why would I use machines to measure this? Isn’t that for when you’re already busy doing something else? Yeah, like the centrifuge running over there. *gestures vaguely off to the left, to some abomination of mechanics* Whatddya mean that’s a safety hazard? It’ll stay together just fine; I made sure to use a new bike chain.

Where’s the rest of the blueprints? What do you mean “that’s it”? Aren’t there revisions and ideas? Where’s the reminders? Why’s there only one machine???

meanwhile the bats are wondering how the fuck the Fentons get literally anything done with lab safety apparently being a suggestion at best, and their storage system apparently being categorized by nine layers of nonsense and how violent the invention has the potential to be, if Danny’s ramblings are anything to go by. And Bruce “I need plans and contingencies for everything” Wayne is absolutely trying to not have an aneurysm from how much Danny just Does Things with no warning and no way that should feasibly work.

Phandom I need your help

So a while ago I found this really good Fanny phantom fic on tumblr (about 2-3 years ago) and I want to find it again but can’t.

It was a southern gothic (?) fic where Danny is non-binary and has watermelon boxers.

He’s traveling the country side with this family and vlad masters.

SPOILERS:

Vlad spikes his water with ghost stuff causing Danny and vlad to go back in time I think. Vlad and Danny “team up” even though vlad planned the whole thing and take temporary sanctuary at a church before heading out.

Eventually they meet back up with the rest of the fentons but we as the reader know something is wrong and will continue to be wrong. And then it ends.

Please help I haven’t stopped thinking about it for so long. I think it was AO3 but I could be entirely wrong.
