Mercs' Twilight Repast - TF2/Blender

You know, sometimes, in a respite from the senselessly deadly battles between groups of faceless mercenaries (for why they're still even fighting when Mann.Co has fallen?), even they need, at least, a little quiet time in the full tranquility of their respawn base. Of course, even in such conditions of lawlessness and immorality of what's happening on the battlefields, mercs have some limitations, setted by Hale - but while the authorities don't see, why not have a small feast when the twilight has come? Moreover, after such a stressful day, in which you would easily lose some of your limbs in the battle from a silly crit rocket, a little bit of Scottish scrumpeh, stolen from a Demoman, and pleasant heart-to-heart talks can definitely brighten up this late evening to be ready for tomorrow's new dangers. I know it's just a metaphor but WHAT?!

I was just reading his conversation with Cale and was surprised by the sudden jumpscare those words gave me. The sentence doesn't help either. 😭

The author is so good at hiding things so early in the story. I didn't even notice it before when I was rereading this novel several times. Either that or I'm just so dumb.
