I definitely agree that movie, Broadway and novel have a lot of historical inaccuracy, but they represent the Main Events of the Strike and it’s process pretty good (except the importance of Hearst in the Strike???)
The movie had a lot of characters that actually existed back then and I’m pretty sad that Most of them didn‘t make it to Broadway. ):
Obviously the modern Adaptations have flaws, for example the Price „suddenly“ rising, Spot being the King of Brooklyn instead of Race, the Strike starting in Manhattan or Katherine being alive during this strike, but the Happenings which were important in the Strike, like the Rally at Irving Hall or their leader being a scab (Kid Blink and David Simmons alledgy turned scab) were shown in them!
Jack Kelly didn‘t exist, but I’m pretty sure he‘s based on a bunch of people that actually existed. His role in the Strike and personality were both based on Kid Blink and Annie Kelly (hence the last name Kelly). His Story resembles a lot of things that happend in Kid Blink‘s Life aswell, for example turning scab (it’s not clear if Blink actually did it but Most newsies believed it) or going to prison (in Jack‘s case Refuge) other than Jack, Blink had a mom that bailed him out tho. The last Name Sullivan COULD be a reference to Timothy D. Sullivan (the Businessman that rented the Irving hall for the newsies) and the name „Jack“ COULD be inspired by the newsie „Jack the rare“ but the last two are just assumptions

If it’s cannon era then 92sies, if not, then livesies. Kind of. There is some that change but mostly that.
Who do y'all picture when reading newsies fanfiction. Cause I can't imagine reading a sprace fic and picturing like Ben Cook with Gabriel Damon or a javey fic with Christian Bale and Ryan Kopel. Does it change depending on the pairing? Or like platonic vs romantic, does that affect who you think of?
Please tell me I am genuinely really curious
So Newsies. I just got back into it and rewatched livsies and 92sies. I still prefer livsies because the music and dancing is way better tho that is the perk of a musical. I do like 92sies tho, I like how Brooklyn comes in earlier and I also like some smaller moments and things. I prefer Kathrine to Sarah, because Sarah was kinda just there and the closest Jack could get to Davey in a movie made in a heteronormative society. I also like crutchie and les better in the musical, as in the movie they were just kinda there or really dumb. Though I like the musical Santa Fe better I crack up during 92sies Santa Fe because Jack just straight up steals a horse. Like what. Who thought of that???? I like in the movie how we see the newsies passing out the Newsies Banner, but I prefer livsies Once and For All. I also like over all I prefer the musical, but I will admit that the movie has some things I do like better and isn’t bad. Anyway no hate to people who like 92sies better, it is good, but I personally don’t think it is as good as the musical. Though the Javey and Sprace content is good.

Is Jack the art teacher? Race is probably also the teacher to spend half the class talking about his day.
Race is the type of Italian teacher whom 12 year old girls simp over and give sickening cards to on Valentines day, and when they find out he has a boyfriend they face time their friends and cry at 6 pm
Crutchie is the type of English Lit teacher who tries his best that students actually like because of his non cringey humour and kindness. He brings homemade cookies into class and helps people overcome shyness
Albert is the teacher who forgot what class he teaches, his hair colour, his age and his address
Feeling like I want to take down the sexist, homophobic and old members of the government. The rage of the 1899 news boys is flowing through me, convincing me to fight the old people telling me my opinions are invalid. Who’s with me?!
5 new crushes I’ve gotten cuz of Newsies. Their not really crushes, per-se, just like, damn, they’re fine (who am I kidding, Kara Lindsay as Katharine is *sigh* and Ben Tyler Cook as Race is also *sigh*)

Just watched 92sies. Definitely prefer livesies, by far. But I will say, livesies completely ruined Spot. Can I ship 92sies Spot and livesies Race? Is that aloud? Cuz Ben Tyler Cook is the best Race. I didn’t like how in 92sies Crutchie and Jack weren’t even really friends, let alone brothers. Also Jack, like, didn’t care about the other newsies at all, he was only acting in his own self interest. And, you know, as a theater kid I’m definitely bias towards stage productions. (If you like 92sies better, that’s completely okay, your opinions are valid. If you hate it with all your being, your opinions are also valid.) I, personally, like livesies music, dancing, story, and everything (-Spot and the Javey iconic-gay-pin-against-wall scene) better.

I like how
In the 1992 movie, Spot is the taller one with blonde/light brown hair and blue eyes while Race is the shorter one with dark hair and eyes.
Then, in the Broadway musical, Race is the tall blonde, blue eyed kid while Spot is the short one with dark hair and eyes.
