A month after France and Frank Harkness, Slough House is floundering beneath the weight of grief none of them quite know how to deal with. Fortunately, Catherine has returned, and she’s determined to fix things — starting with River, who’s carrying a secret that’s affecting how he acts both with her and with Lamb — until she and River are kidnapped from Slough House by a group of former slow horses that have a very serious bone to pick with Jackson Lamb. It will be fine. Catherine knows that Lamb will come for River, and River knows that Lamb will come for Catherine, and until he does they simply have to keep the other alive long enough to be found. But what they’re not expecting is that these former slow horses don’t just want to hurt Lamb; they want to break River, and force Lamb to watch it happen. But the former slow horses have made a significant error of judgement. Because with every recording they send of River’s torture, the more determined Lamb becomes to rescue his boy, and when he finally does get River and Catherine back he is never going to let them go. It’ll be a long, difficult road to recovery, but they’ll walk it together, all three of them.

The fanwork section on AO3 contains ten fanfics. You’ve read all of them and written three of them.
hear me out, we joke about the 118 having bets on when buddie is getting together, mainly hen, chimney, bobby + extended family. but what if b-shift is in on it. they somehow have a whiteboard at the firehouse. a-shift writes normal memos on it. as soon as they all leave, someone dramatically flips it and bam! there's a whole detailed timeline trying to figure out what buck and eddie are to each other, red string and everything. there's multiple theories, some right, some wrong. at the start of each shift they brainstorm. ravi has the task of arriving early to see if buck and eddie leave together or not. someone knows lena bosko and they call her for details. she tells them about the grocery store fight. they move up the divorced theory on the board. at the end of the shift they flip it back around and nobody ever notices even though there's obviously red string hanging from the bottom.

actually yeah this deserves its own post. river’s relationship with isobel and with spider being so similar… i loved you. i did love you. just not enough.
not enough stick around for you / not enough to not betray you. not enough to choose you over my freedom / my career. isobel wanted her own life, spider wanted his ambition.
i did love you. just not enough to choose you over the kind of life i wanted.
from camcorder kidnapping (everyone act surprised sjkdfj) :)
The shape of Payne looms above him, and that’s when River recognizes what a horrifically bad idea it was to sprawl boneless and vulnerable on the floor this way. At least sitting up he had a chance to dodge, to duck. Now he’s entirely under Payne’s body and he can’t gather the strength to pull himself upright, and that’s not good, that’s incredibly not good, and there’s a prickly numb panic swelling in his throat, in his chest— “When he gets here, River?” A boot comes down to the left of River’s shoulder. Not touching. But boxing him in. “Yeah,” says River, even as that panic balloons to the point of suffocating, “when he gets here. He doesn’t leave his agents behind in the field. I mean, maybe he’d’ve left you behind, but you’re an arsehole—” The second boot slams into the concrete. Its impact sends a dizzying ring through River’s skull. “Lamb isn’t coming for you, you stupid fucking child.”
