恭喜发财! 蛇年快乐! 🐍🧧✨
----------------
Recently I was asked the question of what I’m planning to do next after I finish all 12 zodiacs. Honestly, I’m that Plankton meme: I don’t know, I didn’t think I’d get this far 🥲
I remember I first got inspired by @feliciachiao with their beautiful zodiac art, artists inspiring artists, and decided to paint my own. So who knows! Maybe years from now, something will tickle my fancy and motivate me to start in that moment.
For now, you can browse through the previous animals I completed 🐉🐇🐅🐂🐀🐖🐕 Only 4 more to go!
恭喜发财! 龙年快乐! 🐉🧧✨
I will be honest. I was not looking forward to drawing this zodiac animal for a long time because I get overwhelmed with drawing details 🥲 But my goal this year is to overcome more obstacles, so here I am!! I have finished. And it turned out way better than I imagined.
Swipe through to see the previous animals I've drawn over the years 🐇🐅🐂🐀🐖🐕
I'm more than halfway through the zodiac!
My first time completing Hourly Comic Day!
I've been wanting to do this, but I needed to give myself a short deadline, otherwise I will not get it done 😆
If I was asked what my typical day looks like, this is as accurate as it can be, shapes and all. Thanks for reading!
Chinese New Year is approaching! 🧧
I've actually been wanting to revisit the Rabbit painting. Looking at my other zodiac animals, I'd prefer to have them all look the same style and aesthetic, so I cleaned up the rabbit without spots and swirls.
What are your thoughts? Do you prefer the old design or this new design? Also, any plans for the upcoming CNY? 😄
I made this piece a few months back and it took me enough mental strength to finally post what I have. The older version seemed somber and still, so I intensified the melancholy look, on how grief and heartache can continue to hold on after the moment(s) has passed.
But instead of trying to "Not think about it" or forget, sometimes it's best to get in tune with how you're feeling, imagining this feeling like a temporary visitor. Sit with it, hold its hand, tell it, "I see you, I hear you," and when you're ready, let them leave, until the next time if or when they come back.
Here's to peace, here's to healing, and here's to feeling your feelings this holiday season ✨
恭喜发财! 兔年快乐! 🐰🧧✨
Wishing you all a healthy, refreshed new year ❤️
Who have you been listening to?
More importantly, who do you want to listen to this coming new year?
Prompt #1: Mushrooms/Meditative
I've been going at a much much slower pace when it comes to drawing, but when I do, I'm following the #chilltobember prompts! It's perfect because this event is all about slowing down and (re)learning to enjoy the process.
These original prints (size 3 x 4.5 in) are available for sale so feel free to DM or message me ✌️
I hope everyone is doing well during this chilly autumn season! 🍂
"May flowers grow in the saddest parts of you." --Zainab Aamir
Ever since daylight savings, I felt more fatigued than usual. Does anyone else feel that way?
新年快乐! Year of the Tiger 🐅🧧✨ A Big update: art prints are now available in my Society6 shop! Feel free to check out the link HERE 🐂🐀🐖🐕 What's your zodiac? I'mma horse, so I'll be looking forward to drawing mine in 4 years 😁 Have a safe good year, everyone!
Resting and reflecting
Lately I've been focusing on other parts of my life and finding what truly brings me joy.
Despite the uncertainties, I'm thankful for these years of reflecting and facing head on my inner turmoils. I'm grateful for the love and support that surrounds me, be it at home or virtual. I'm especially grateful that, one of the reasons that I've been feeling at peace is I finally got the help of medication. I'm acknowledging that I needed more help than just therapy and meditation (although these are just as powerful resources), and that's completely okay. It's been helping greatly, and I'm relieved to feel more like myself again -- kinda like relaxing your jaw and realizing now that you've been tightening it this whole time.
It's only been a few weeks into the new year, but I hope you've all been well. Thanks for reading and sticking around, it's been a journey ❤️
Learning to let go, Learning to let things be, Learning to loosen the grip, Learning to trust in the process. Connections will happen, They won’t feel like opposing magnets trying to stick, A thousand knots to the stomach, Or added baggage on your already tired shoulders. True connections will simply flow, Comfortably intertwined. ---- Revisiting an old piece with a lesson that took me a long time to learn. And still learning 🤍
just you and me
What's your audio aura? Thank you @stacytangart for the inspiration and @yumightaswell for creating this fun art challenge! The idea is to paint a self portrait using the color palettes of @spotify audio aura. As a result, it was very cathartic 💚💖
"Nature is so wise and so... generous.
Generous, because it gives us everything we need."
--Birders, 2019 (dir. Otilia Portillo Padua)
This has been an interesting concept to explore. It's wild how complex deer antlers can get! ✨🦌
Please forgive me, I've got demons in my head
Just wanted to say that i adored your comic about grief. it just really got me in the Feels with how much emotion you conveyed in it. i might be projecting lol but thank for making it, hope you’re well 💙☕️
Thank you so much 💙 It looks like the comic resonates with many others and I'm glad that it's been helping during this time.
“Sleep Apnea”
This is something that I’ve been wanting to delve more deeply and apply into my work. I don’t think that many people are aware of the severity of this common but serious sleeping disorder.
About 10 years ago I was diagnosed and, like many people, believed that it was simply just snoring. But after getting informed and doing further research, I realized how much it severely affected my overall well being.
“Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that occurs when a person's breathing is interrupted during sleep. People with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep, sometimes hundreds of times. This means the brain -- and the rest of the body -- may not get enough oxygen.” -- Nayana Ambardekar, MD
I’ve been told that, before using the equipment to help with sleeping (the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine, or CPAP), my breathing sounded like a loud creature getting choked from its own body. I can joke about it now, but it was a really scary discovery! But despite this health condition, I’m still thankful that I got to be educated, to find out in my early years, to get the help and resources I need, and to be more understanding to those that are also diagnosed with it or something similar.
You can find out more about sleep apnea in your own time. I just hope that there will be more awareness about it, that it’s not just snoring, that seeing the term or the supplies used won’t be so foreign, and that there are solutions to improving their health in the long run.
Hello, I moved! I've been using this time to settle in and rest lots 🙂 I'm learning that big changes leave me extremely anxious, but I try to remind myself that, as uncertain things are, brighter and happier memories can/will be made soon. I hope you all are doing okay in the meantime.
"I'm sorry for letting you go." "I'm thankful for you holding me at all." I get hesitant whenever I post work related to emotional topics like grief or heartbreak. But, I want to keep reminding myself that feelings need to come and go naturally. Even if the process can be painfully slow, it helps me with the process of moving forward. And if my work can resonate and help others as it's helping me, emotionally and creatively, then that's okay too. I hope you all have a good restful weekend and taking moments to breathe ⛅️!
Maybe it'll leave today... no? Oh, alright then 😭
It’s blooming season.
新年快乐! Year of the Ox 🐂🧧✨ Also, here's the previous years I've done so far 🐀🐖🐕
I'm offering free digital prints of this piece for a limited time. You can find the link here available until the end of this month. Enjoy!
My only wish is that you all continue to stay safe, stay warm, and stay healthy. Let this be a prosperous, growing year.
My last piece for 2020. I've been resting and being with friends and family (virtually). If you haven't been able to do much lately because the clouds have been weighing you down, I just want to let you know that I see you and I'm with you. There's one quote that I go to that gives me a sense of peace, hopefully it can be for you too: "And I know sometimes you cannot breathe deeply, and the night sky is no home, and you have cried yourself to sleep enough times that you are down to your last two percent. But nothing is infinite, not even loss. You are made of the sea and the stars, and one day you are going to find yourself again." -- Finn Butler It's been an extremely difficult year, but I hope that you all take care and be gentle with yourselves, knowing that these hard times will pass. I'm going to take time off away from here too, but looking forward to what the new year has in store. Stay safe and warm, and thank you for being here 🤍
"Hey... I'm not going to hurt you." Revisiting one of my first ink pieces back in 2016. How time flies! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and is having a restful weekend 🧡
"Don't worry, you're among friends." Is it me, or does anyone else get these mellow, nostalgic vibes during the Fall season? When the falling leaves turn golden and the weather (slowly) gets chillier, it's just👌 One of the reasons why Autumn is my favorite season is seeing the vivid changes outside. The gradual changes showing that time is still moving, even when it doesn't feel like it sometimes. I like to think that they're reminders that moments will pass. And especially during this time now, this gives me lots of peace these days. Anyways, I hope you all are doing well and having a good start to the week 🍂🧡
I saw that picture of Iwai on your other profile (the one with the yakuza tats) and I was wondering if you planned on doing it for each of the Phantom Thirves? I love how Iwai turned out!
Thank you so much!
After that Iwai piece, I thought of just leaving it at that, but what you suggested is a fun idea. So I don’t know yet! It could be a possible fan project to work on in the future :)
