I paused for a bit and did that one drawing challenge going around where you draw what you're wearing at that exact moment.

Hi everyone, I am having a Charity Sale for ALL my prints and zines in my Etsy store, available through the link in my bio. I have a limited amount and will not be printing copies anytime soon, so once they’re gone, they are gone!

All profits from my shop will be donated to supporting BLM and COVID-19 organizations and businesses. For this month, I will be donating to @relief_international.

Relief International is a nonprofit that works in 16 different countries to provide food, education, and medical care to “people in the world’s most fragile settings.” They are currently building isolation and treatment centers in refugee camps for COVID-19 patients, delivering care packages to the homes of refugees, and opening more health clinics. (From the GoFundMe article with lists of charities to donate to, which is also linked in my bio)

For ongoing donations, I will be supporting the BLM movement through ActBlue. If you do share this, please also donate, sign a petition, and/or support your local businesses/organizations. And be sure to credit me as well.

Lately I've been feeling small and more scared to go outside.

The bad news can be so loud and overwhelming, my anxiety has definitely been coming in waves. And I'm sure many (if not all) of you are feeling something similar.

Day 25: Tired

I have an update:

As of today, I will be going on a hiatus and taking time to be away from social media. I will also be stepping down from the convention scenes for the time being.

I understand that I have a lot to work on in many aspects of my life and that I need to focus entirely on that.

This is honestly scary for me, but I know that I need to put in the hard work, open up and resolve my current struggles in order to move on to better things.

Thank you everyone for your support, take care of yourselves and each other, and I’ll see you whenever I get back.

For this post, I wanted to highlight someone who I've recently been looking up to, and that is: Rowena Tsai!

I get so much encouragement from her posts, and she just seems like a kind, genuine soul.

I find it humbling when Rowena talks about her personal struggles and flaws in her YouTube videos. She provides a positive, gentle take to those issues, along with book/article recommendations and inspiring quotes.

For that, I'm thankful for artists and bloggers who use their own vulnerability and put their narratives out there that I really resonate with.

One of the phrases that she uses the most is, "voice hug!" so I like to think that this is a creative way of giving her a hug!

The list definitely got bigger - some are old, some are new, some are silly, a lot more are of food 👏 but more importantly, they're reminders to appreciate what I currently have, counting the blessings not just today but every day ☺️

I'm also thankful for you all! 🧡

Today is my birthday! (11/23) So I would like to gift you all with this announcement:

I have (finally) created my own food blog! @comfydarkeats ✨🍽✨

Food and art are both things that I greatly enjoy. When I was asked what my dream career would be, I answered that I'd want to be a food illustrator.

I say "finally" because, to be honest, even though they are my passions, it took me a while to just get started. Maybe it's the fear of making mistakes, or that the results won't turn out the way I want it to. Does anyone else feel this? 😭

A very wise friend told me, "Why not start with a 'bad drawing'? Why not paint a 'bad thing.' And just keep going until you finally get something good." In other words, I won't know if the piece is bad if I don't get started at ALL.

I'm also trying to apply this mindset in other aspects of my life. I admit to not accomplishing a lot of goals (let alone daily tasks) because of this fear of failure, fear of not getting it right the first try, which causes me to stop on my tracks and just be stagnant overall.

I know this is something I need to work on, but as I'm getting older, I'm learning that it's okay to make mistakes, as long as there's the eagerness and acceptance of bettering myself. I'm also trying to take in this saying, "There's no better time than the present." It's been said so many times, but I never really had that sink in until now.

Creating this blog is a small step, but it's important to me that I initiate at all instead of going, "someday." So here's to starting new things that may turn into accomplishments!
