I have never in my life wanted to get to know stars, the night sky or anything related to astronomy. Space was never something I was interested in. But this is so beautiful and interesting, I can’t even look away.
Human eyes can see only a small portion of the range of radiation given off by the objects around us. We call this wide array of radiation the electromagnetic spectrum, and the part we can see visible light.
In the first image, researchers revisited one of Hubble Space Telescope’s most popular sights: the Eagle Nebula’s Pillars of Creation. Here, the pillars are seen in infrared light, which pierces through obscuring dust and gas and unveil a more unfamiliar — but just as amazing — view of the pillars. The entire frame is peppered with bright stars and baby stars are revealed being formed within the pillars themselves. The image on the bottom is the pillars in visible light.

Just remember. There is no such thing as a fake geek girl. There are only fake geek boys. Science fiction was invented by a woman.
Queer kids are not allowed to be kids.
They aren’t allowed to get angry when people bully them because by reacting people believe they justify the abuse. They are forced to deal with adult situations often without support from any of the actual adults around them. When they look for leaders in their community they often find no one who is like them and are left with only scraps of representation in media to look to. And they don’t have the support system they deserve, the support system heterosexual/romantic cisgender kids are given without question. They are forced to hide parts of themselves from their family members and we pretend that it is normal. And if they decide to discuss that particular part of their identity it is picked apart and examined often before the kid even knows how to process it themselves. Their own identities is branded as “too adult” for them when it is not their identities that is too adult, but how we treat them once we are informed of these parts of their identities.
Queer kids deserve so much better than they are given.
Apparently "People Watching" by Conan Gray will now live rent free in my head. I have no objections, I do have some thoughts tho.
I have never EVER in my life identified with a song that much. Everything in it is spot on. To the letter. It's scary and I hate it. But I love it at the same time. So... yeah.
And also, I would like to very respectfully say that Conan is the most beautiful human being my unworthy eyes had the honor of seeing in the last couple of weeks (at least). And I studied Aesthetics, I know my shit (read: I know my beauty, professor).
Like, seriously, Conan, stop.
Psst, hey, Marilyn Monroe’s image as a freewheeling sexpot was a carefully constructed lie. The real Marilyn Monroe was a roiling tragedy and her life was an indictment of our society as a whole. She was orphaned after her mother had a schizophrenic breakdown, bounced around between foster homes where she was sexually abused, and married a 21-year-old at 16 to get out of being sent to an orphanage. Hugh Hefner published nude photos of her without her consent that were taken when she was 23 and desperate. She suffered severe anxiety and depression, which she coped with by drinking and using barbiturates, and was already a full-blown addict when she became famous in the mid-50s. Her career was one of exploitation, condescension and alienation, and she killed herself at 36. That Hugh Hefner, a man who was at best an unpleasant footnote in her life, felt entitled to be buried next to her is one more humiliation in a pop cultural landscape we should all be ashamed of.
Oh wow.
there's something in these pictures that makes me feel calm
I just came from outside. It's raining, the garden looks peaceful dressed in the gentle tones of green.
I feel the raindrops on my face, my back, my hands while I'm picking strawberries.
Things are not perfect but this moment is great and so so so grounding.
I love this so much.
Also, I feel so bi right now 😅😅
