Can I just say that this episode really solidified for me that Buck and Tommy are far more of a pining longing will they wont they romance than any of us anticipated they would be
We've seen Buck be dumped and do the dumping so many times before. We've seen how he reacts to being left behind. He clings until he can but when it's over, it's Truly Over for him. We've never seen him struggle so much with staying away. We've never seen him continue to be so love-struck so desperately wanting to seek out an ex's attention.
It's so different from how he usually is after a break-up and I love it.
I love that he's so obsessive about wanting to reach out to Tommy that his friends feel the need to stop him from doing it just in case he gets hurt again. I love that he's coping with it by baking his feelings. I love that the show makes it expressly clear he is NOT the only one who is struggling not to reach out. I love that they showed us that Tommy is also missing Buck. That Tommy is out there somewhere thinking of his man and how badly he wants him back in his life. I love that even if we don't see them together we can see they're still BuckTommy like the show may have taken them away from each other but those characters' arcs are clearly still intertwined and I love it.
I also love how Buck has reacted emotionally to the break-up. Like they're not villainising Tommy. They're not acting like Tommy committed some crime by stepping away. Buck seems to take the whole being dumped thing far better than he ever has before. I don't even think he sees it as being left behind bc we see that he is expecting to speak to Tommy again, to see Tommy again. And he wants it, in whatever way he can have it.
He's not angry at Tommy, he's not even particularly bitter. He's just sad. He's frustrated and lonely and all he wants is his man back. And he better fucking get exactly that or is2g
Also why’s no one talking about “I’m your first, not last” line? I’m pretty sure I saw something like this in the title of some b*ddie fanfic. Like what the fuck? What does this even mean? It’s another proof that writers bait b*ddie shippers. They want them to go wild and write “yes! Tommy is his first but Eddie will be his last!” all over the internet.
And it also can be the best opportunity to show that no Tommy is his first and last if they deal with this break up.
Well I have some more thoughts about BT break up.
To begin with, I don’t care what cast members or Tim said about that. I would be weird if they say something like “Oh, don’t worry! They will end up together!” or “No, we actually plan them to make things up in the next episode”. Like of course they will say about the final break up and Lou quitting the show! Otherwise it would ruin all of the intrigue! Don’t forget that we have two more episodes! It’s not over.
Also everyone can agree that this break up felt rushed and all of nowhere and if they leave the story like that it would be horrible writing. Unless this would be explained in the next episodes. Like maybe it was only the beginning of new arc. We saw it with Madney, we saw it with Bobby and Athena, we saw it with Henren in season 1! Break ups can be part of relationship and it’s okay.
This arc can be a perfect tool to fight against bi stereotypes. That bi people always want to experiment and explore. Maybe writers want to give Buck a beautiful speech about how damaging these kind of stereotypes can be. May be Buck will try to convince Tommy that not all bi people are like this.
Anyway I think we shouldn’t criticise the show until the season is over. But if they let this story to fade like that I won’t watch season 9. Because in this case It will be a bad writing for sure.
I FINALLY watched 8x06 and here is my thoughts about BT break up:
1) Tommy said all those things about broken heart and “I’m your first, not last” like he knew it for sure. Like he knew all of this from his personal experience. And we shouldn’t forget that we still not know much about his life and past. I assume that maybe he had an ex that did this to him. Who wanted to move in together and then cheated. Who broke Tommy’s heart and Tommy didn’t know how to deal with it. And now he’s afraid that this might happen again. Or maybe Tommy was this kind of person in the first place. He broke up with Abby and found a guy who he thought were his “together forever” but it didn’t work out so Tommy is now sceptical about positive first experiences.
2) I see a parallel between this broke up and failed date in season 7. Not only because “see you around, Evan” but because of situation. I don’t think Tommy ended the date in season 7 only because he thought that Buck wasn’t ready. Maybe he also wasn’t ready himself. Not ready to hide, not ready to lie, maybe even not ready to start relationship at all. But Buck called him and made it clear that he ready to explore things and I think it encouraged Tommy to try it too.
It gives me hope that Buck won’t leave it like that. Tommy left his place so quickly that he didn’t give Buck even an opportunity to object his break up speech. It will be incredibly illogical for Buck not to contact with Tommy and clear things up. Firstly, we saw it in season 7. Secondly, I think he has things to say. Knowing Buck, he couldn’t manage to keep it to himself.
3) Am I the only one who noticed that writers make a story for b*ddie shippers to speculate? Like on purpose. I first noticed it in 7x04 where all of the episode we couldn’t tell for sure whom actually Buck was jealous for. And I know, we all see SOME of b*ddie shippers as some hateful bullies which they are. But for creators of the show they are views and comments. And creators don’t want them to give up on this show. So they don’t do b*ddie but they give them hints and scenes like the end of 8x06 (after breaking up with Tommy Buck came to half-naked Eddie to drink beer and comfort. I can’t even imagine how many fics with this title will be on ao3 after this episode) to keep them watching the show. My point is that maybe all this break up was for b*ddie shippers to make some noise in the internet to raise views. But it won’t last long and they deal with it in the next episode.
Anyway I just hope that Buck and Tommy will be together eventually.
P. S. English isn’t my first language so the text may have some mistakes.
I’ve been thinking lately about the exact time hannigram feels love for each other for the first time.
It’s very obvious when it comes to Hannibal because we all saw his heart-eyes when they first met.
Like dude you don’t even try to hide it! You’re so fond of him and fascinated by this rude-but-beautiful man. (Also the “READY FOR LOVE in 5 days” describes him in 100% at this moment. Good work, marketing team!). But I don’t think this is exact time when he became aware of his feelings.
This scene is my favourite in the whole show and I think in this moment Hannibal truly knows how deeply he’s in love. He thought Will was dead and then he finally sees him he was like - 🥺. I’m sure if Will was really dead Hannibal would sob in Bedelia’s place and then kill everyone in FBI (because they couldn’t save Will) and then himself.
It’s far more complicated with it comes to Will. Partly because Will denies his feelings and tries to concentrate on Chesapeake’s Ripper’s murders. Even when he found out that Hannibal is a murderer and generate all this plan with Freddie he tried to warn Hannibal (And wanted to run away with him as we know) in Mizumono. And partly because Will just hide this feelings better than Hannibal (which is very funny because Hannibal had a complete control of his emotions but when Will was around Hannibal was like 😍🥰🥺☺️).
Also we can’t exclude that Will is from south which is quite homophobic part of the country. I think it was more hard to him to accept the fact that he’s attracted to man than it was to Hannibal. So it’s obvious that Will would deny his feelings even if he wouldn’t fall in love with the cannibal but just a man.
Did Will feel sort of love in this scene? Well, I don’t think this was exactly love but I’m sure he felt a huge gratitude that he’s not alone in this situation. He didn’t know Hannibal much by this time but he thought that this man deserves to be in his life. He felt interest maybe (soon after the “I don’t find you that interesting” scene lol).
In this scene Will said “I have to deal with you and my feelings about you”. (Some people might say that he meant hate in this scene but I think he meant love/hate) So by this time we know that he’s aware of his feelings about Hannibal. I’m 100% sure that Will fully accepts his feelings only in Mizumono. (A giant black deer as a metaphor of his feelings for Hannibal is literally bleeding when Hannibal runs away).
Soooo I think that he feels so sort of butterflies in this scene. Some of you can argue with me saying “well he compares Hannibal with Chesapeake’s Ripper here” and maybe you’re right but it’s only 1x07! It’s too early for him to realise that! Will is a man of labour and he always sees Hannibal as pedant and clean person and right now he’s saving man’s life without minding. Will sees Hannibal as strong and professional as he is. And I think in this moment he felt something.
Sorry for my grammar. English is not my native language. I also would like to see your opinions and thoughts about this topic.
This gif proves that kiss would be less gayer than what they did in the show
