"russia just invaded ukraine vs israel committing a genocide in palestine”
yeah just invaded.
yeah it a fair war of two relatively the same military powers.
yeah one side never said that the other never existed and shouldn’t exist now.
yeah one side is not targeting civilian infrastructure en masse.
yeah it’s just a conflict and not a continuation of a hundred-year conquest of an imperial power to destroy a nation.
it’s not like one side has killed at least 10 million people in the space of the last century while specifically targeting this nation in particular.
it’s great that you all read about palestinian history - this is a right thing to do and one of the ways to decolonise your own knowledge- but maybe pick up a timothy snyder or serhiy plokhy book and read when russians started killing ukrainians. you would be surprised that it didn’t start either in 2022 or 2014, its been going on FOR CENTURIES.
wording matters. check whether your country recognises holodomor as a genocide. if yes, read about it. if not, read about it as well.
and then check what constitutes a genocide and how both of this tragedies are genocides: of ukrainian people by russia and of palestinian people by israel.
"why don't we hate israelis as much as we hated russians when they invaded ukraine" - first of all, who is "we". It was (primarily) Eastern Europeans who carried the russophobia on their backs, I'm not letting you appropriate their contribution. And second of all, when were you stabbing russian immigrants abroad for the sin of being russian and vandalising their neighbourhoods with swasticas? Because all I remember is russian men harrassing & beating up ukrainian refugee women and children, and setting their houses on fire, while westerners were observing this with "omg brotherly nation forced into war by politicians. make peace not war #deep"
you just read a news piece "Ukraine returned 4 kids from russian territories aged 17, 9, 6 and 3" and think: finally some good fucking news, but then you scroll further and you see the numbers 19,000 deported and 1,400 missing and you just don’t understand what should we do to safe them, who should we ask and beg for help.
I'm happy to finish it! I wanted to cope with the challenge earlier and to publish it on my bday but... here we are. =)
Радість закінчити це! Хотілося впоратися з челенджем раніше і опублікувати його на свій дн, але... що ж. =)
Please help the family of a non-verbal autistic child (who has been losing weight because he only eats certain kinds of food, largely unavailable during this time) leave Gaza!
i don't know how to say this but if you see something get called russian culture maybe double check. many people online have no fucking clue how many things they claim as theirs that are simply not. this cultural erasing is a tool of genocide, because when you have no culture, you have no language, you have no nation. please fucking use your brain. i bet you a million dollars you've seen borshch (also spelled borscht) as a russian dish but it is literally one of our national dishes. look up the ems ukaz. the erasure of our culture isn't new so think for a second. did you know dostoyevskyy was ethnically ukrainian? what about gogol? what about ryepin? aivazovskyy was ukrainian with armenian roots. and yet they are all pillars of "russian art". do you get it yet? they ruined our lands, made the best education all russian, gave you rights and respect if you lived as a russian and they succeeded in it. these people are russian to history now, our culture is being erased and only we care
yeah but you know who else died before they could finish their works?
Nothing that the Russians say or do on their television and social media can trigger and frustrate a Ukrainian more than the attitude of the Western world towards the Russians.
I read the morning news and see that Jared Leto on his show in Serbia happily told his Russian fans that he'll come to Russia and Ukraine when these "problems" are over. I go on tumblr and see people I follow reblogging a post about Discord being blocked in Russia, and instructions on how to use the VPN as if literally all Russians don't know it already. This post has over 2k notes! A post about atrocities that Russians willingly commit in Ukraine on a daily basis will get you 60-100 notes, 95% of which will be from other Ukrainians.
This is beyond triggering. How do you live in this Russian-loving world with Russian-induced PTSD?
This is not a "Ukrainian crisis", not "temporary difficulties", not just a "problem" that can go away without a trace. It's an invasion, a Russian war against Ukraine, genocide of Ukrainians. We are not crazy and overdramatic, we see the true face of Russia. The one you will never be able to see through your red square glasses.
These 100 days flew by so quickly. Feels like I drew it yesterday.

Ці 100 днів пролетіли так швидко. Відчуття, наче арт був намальований мною вчора.
100 days until the party.
100 днів до вечірки.
