never any love for my boy XM:TAS Morph
you guys need to understand that they were my everything
I don't know if the artist/writer did it on purpose, but I like how, in the very brief flashback glimpses we get of Morph's parents in Exiles:
you could see how those two people could conceivably have a child who grows up to look like this:
Although Exiles Morph's "human child" form is blond like his father. IF TAS Morph has the same origin of being born as a vaguely human-shaped blob (and I'm not 100% sold on that, we really don't know), my headcanon is that TAS Morph's human form is basically copying and combining their parents' features. They didn't even really intend to, they just sort of did it instinctively as they grew, because children expect to look like their parents.
Further headcanon: Whenever child Kevin was upset with one parent, their features would subtly change to resemble the other parent slightly more. That was also an unintentional, subconscious thing. (At first, at least. I could see an older Morph doing it on purpose to be a little shit.) They definitely looked more and more like their mother while she was dying.

MARVEL CHARACTER EVOLUTION
MORPH
It’s MORPH’n time! I am loving Morph in X-Men ‘97! Very much enjoying what JP Karliak is bringing to the role and read a really great theory about how Morph uses his new neutral/blank face to mask his trauma. In ep 3 you can see how he reverts to his old face when talking about Sinister, and then immediately changes back to the blank face. If that’s true it would be a deep and fascinating choice for the character and I love it. So here’s my take on Morph, and one last, not so secret sneak peek at the last member of the team illustration. I wonder who it could be…
