In 1937, the Basque city of Gernika came under severe bombing by the Nazi Luftwaffe and the Italian Aviazione Legionaria.
Picasso was so affected he painted the piece Guernica:
Today (December 8, 2023), Gernika created their own haunting demonstration in solidarity with Palestine:
(If you unmute, beware, there is the very loud sound of an actual air raid siren.)
It's a human mosaic and includes the mother with dead child from Guernica.
i'll just leave this here for anyone who sees "from the river to the sea" as a threat

Everything is beautiful and I am so sad. This is how the heart makes a duet of wonder and grief. The light spraying through the lace of the fern is as delicate as the fibers of memory forming their web around the knot in my throat. The breeze makes the birds move from branch to branch as this ache makes me look for those I’ve lost in the next room, in the next song, in the laugh of the next stranger. In the very center, under it all, what we have that no one can take away and all that we’ve lost face each other. It is there that I’m adrift, feeling punctured by a holiness that exists inside everything. I am so sad and everything is beautiful.
I think this is a good opportunity to educate people on the history of Palestine, the Nakba, and how it happened to show why what's happening today has been happening for the last century. Here's a documentary series that uses archival footage, official documentation, Israeli and Arab historian accounts, and personal accounts from Palestinian refugees to tell the story of the colonization of Palestine. Remember to click the Read More in the link to look at the episodes.
Even if you don't plan on watching it, I would still appreciate if you could share this so access to this knowledge is more widespread.
I love that whenever a middle eastern country is in peril the united shithole states of fucking america suddenly becomes a bastion of lgbt rights that all other countries must live up to or they deserve being bombed

Never did I think I'd live long enough to see a mass genocide in my lifetime, but here we are. This shit is insane. We really need to reconsider who we put in power in our countries. We need to make noise, and lots of it. For all those innocent lives being taken right now, it's the least we should do for them.
I'm begging that we don't have another massive war.

Please do not let history repeat itself. Don’t stand with genocide.
Thanks to social media, news can spread like wildfire. But the support we give to Palestine should not be treated like a trend. Don’t stop liking, commenting, retweeting and sharing information and posts about Palestine. Don’t stop listening to Palestinians. Remember all who have suffered, all who have died, all who are trapped, all who have lost families and friends.
Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living.
[i've never doubted that palestine will live.
the US dropped more than 7.5 million tons of bombs on vietnam, laos and cambodia from 1965-75. they destroyed our land, used agent orange, slaughtered villages, separated families, the list goes on.
but we're. still. here.
indigenous people are still here. black people are still here. colonized people are resilient. even if you kill our people, ban our languages, destroy our homes, heritage sites and artifacts, we will always find a way to keep our cultures alive and that has always been true
so much of the west and isntreal's tactics and actions are hauntingly familiar to me as a viet person. its a colonizer's rinse and repeat. and so that's how i know palestine will be free. we've seen this film before]
The Palestinian Ministry of Health released a report on Thursday, including the names of more than seven thousand Palestinians who were martyred in the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.
Red color highlights 0-4 years old age group
Green color highlights age group 5-17
White color highlights the age group between 18 and 59 years old
Gray color highlights the age group over 60
These are not just names, but people killed in the midst of a brutal war. Remember their names.

The dehumanization of Palestinians in mainstream media and news is massive, I have never seen it this bad in my entire life and it has been abhorrent long before this. It terrifies me to know how widespread it has become especially throughout the imperial core - however - I have also never seen this many people talk about Palestine, either. Palestinian liberation is something on a lot of people's minds now, solidarity efforts are global and I've seen people from all corners of the globe voicing their support. It's astounding

listen israel knows what it's doing
when it bombed a hospital massacring over 500 civilians in a single strike, they got off scot-free and actually got the US president to stand by their side
so now they bomb the oldest church in Gaza, knowing that will certainly generate outcry in the west at least
they want to be outrageous, they want the world to see that no matter what war crimes they commit, no one would dare call them out
they want to relish in their impunity

Reblog while you still can.
I usually keep my private feelings and thoughts to myself and don't usually mix politics with leisure, but I can't do that with this. Not when the people of Palestine are begging us not to leave them alone while they're being brutalized. If you haven't vocalized your support, do it now. It's having a positive impact, people's opinions are changing. If you feel like you don't know enough to speak on it, then come talk to me. I'll help you, but please. To stay silent now is to tacitly support genocide.
Don't look away from this. Look at their faces, remember their humanity. Reach inside and find the empathy you hold. Don't forget them, and don't let the people who have condemned them forget, either. May they feel even a little of the grief and fear they've inflicted on the people of Palestine.
let the world never forget that it’s AMERICAN weapons being used to wipe out Gaza. that it’s AMERICAN tax money funding this genocide while the AMERICAN president and AMERICAN leaders support this mass murder of innocent people. let the world never forget America has Palestinian blood on its hands
this terrified kitty won't let go of the young man who found it under the rubble.
the reporter was wondering if animals associations would care for the animals situation in gaza and the man answers her: "they do not care about us; human beings, you think they care about animals?! they do not care about us. no one does."
Palestinian lady collects gas bombs fired by Israeli army. She grows flowers in these bombs.
jewishvoiceforpeace: This is what genocide looks like. These are the 2913 Palestinian children killed by the Israeli military this month, as of Thursday, October 26. As the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza intensify, we recognize with horror and grief that this death toll is already inaccurate.
We demand a ceasefire now to save lives. To stop a genocide. The Israeli military has already erased 47 entire Palestinian families from Gaza's population registry; all members of the family, from all generations, are dead. This is loss beyond measure.
The U.S. is also responsible for this horror. 80% of the bombs that the Israeli military drops on Gaza, that are used to kill these children, are American-made. We are called to do everything we can to stop this genocide.
As we continue to demand a ceasefire and fight for a future where everyone is free and equal and safe, we refuse to forget these lives. We will always affirm that every life is precious.
Every single one of these deaths was preventable. When we say Never Again-for anyone, this is who we mean. Never Again is right now.
