As a Hispanic person: No. it is Not culturally appropriating, there’s nothing exactly massive cultural significance compared to other things thatve been appropriated (bad wording on my part I can’t think of the right words). History wise, Spanish is a language made by white Europeans that people in Latin countries had to learn because of colonization. So no, learning spanish is not cultural appropriation.

I watched Sausages backstory again and just looking at the king I can't help but feel like I recognise the king. Like, yeah there's the theory that's he's Sausages dad (which I fully support) but also......Idk he just FEELS very familiar BUT I CANT PUT MY DAMN FINGER ON IT

after seeing empires sausage’s backstory i can only think that the whole hermes thing just ties in even more to his backstory and he’s just trying to be the best dad he can possibly be bc he never knew his own and wants to carry on the kindness he was shown by someone who didn’t have to take on being his father figure but did so anyway brb crying

Sanctuary had once been nothing but a dream. A fantasy forged by a family in need. A place without fear or harm or loneliness.

Sausage remembered how he used to cling to Eddie's words, how he used to spend hours listening to his father figure‘s dreams, only to spend the rest of the days building on these ideas in his own mind.

And now he was standing in it and he couldn‘t find the words to describe just how perfect it was. The buildings looked like home, but more colourful and welcoming. Everything screamed for his family, everything was built in their memory and filled him with pure pride.

He missed his family. He missed his old life, if only because he had them back then. He wished for a life in which he could be reunited with them once more, but kept moving all the same, kept walking, kept working.

Working to make this place how they would‘ve wanted it. Working to make it a place in which no one would have to be scared, or hungry, or lonely.

Sometimes Sausage thought about whether what he was doing was selfish, whether he only built this place to feel closer to his family, whether the only reason he took in family after family, healed villager after villager, was to make himself sleep calmer.

But with every hour he spent helping his people, with every night spent sitting at a crying child‘s bedside it became clearer and clearer that he wasn‘t only doing it for himself.

Sure, he was doing it in the name of his family, in the name of his father and their legacy, but he wasn‘t doing it because he owed it to them-

He did it because it was the right thing to do, because no one should have to go through the pain he endured and because the people that already did deserved to have a second chance, a place to call home after they lost their old homes.

And if that was what his family would‘ve wanted, if it helped Sausage feel a little less lonely in this world, then that was an additional upside, one he could very well live with.

Can we just imagine Eddie’s reaction, after finally reuniting with Sausage, only for an 11ft god to come over with a little child who’s calling his, basically, adoptive son ‘Papi’, and Sausage calling the god ‘Thunder Daddy’ whilst the two make questionable jokes.

I just wanna see that.

crazy how the popular "transmasc-core" artists are all white boys and the popular "gender envy" people are all white boys and the popular "transmasc names" are all white names and the popular "transmasc haircuts" never include things like poc who keep long hair for culture or have different hair textures and styles and then poc mention how they feel alienated in the community and white transmascs will go "but im not racist" as if the act of not calling us slurs outwardly somehow makes the community accepting and welcoming

The show genuinely made me realize I’m part of a system. Absolutely wonderful.

You can seriously tell he did his research on DID from the way he mentions books he’s read, he made sure to say alters and not “personalities” and like, idk man, he’s so passionate and caring about the subject it’s so nice to see.

I’m so happy this show worked so hard to properly and appropriately represent DID and I’m even happier seeing several systems talk about how much they enjoyed the show because of that. It’s just so nice.

Thanatos was raised as a human. Not matter how robotic his mind and body may be, there’s still humanity in him.

Ok I gotta talk about apotheosis again cuz it’s so good and the characters are amazing. And as much as I want to write a thesis on how Peter could become more powerful than all of them, or Rumi’s need for perfection, I really wanna talk about Thanatos.

Cuz Thanatos is the softest motherfucker in the whole crew.

Don’t laugh yet, hear me out.

The man (robot?) gave up the opportunity to kill a god with his bare hands so Peter could feel a bit more powerful. That’s honestly a big deal for his character. He is created to kill gods, but when Peter asks if he could finish him, Thanatos relents and circumvents his programming. A god still dies, so his program is satisfied, but he’s not the one to do it.

And that seems to be the case with a lot of his actions. His instincts, his heart, is covered by the cold logic of his programming. And honestly, I’m talking about the bear jacket. He didn’t need to try and make Rumi and Peter jackets. That’s not furthering his goal. Neither of them have shown any indication of needing a coat. Rumi would die before he was caught shivering and with Exandroths affinity for fire it’s a wonder Peter knows what cold is. There’s no reason for it, no logic, but Thanatos cares about them. He wants to help them, even by providing just some little creature comforts. It wouldn’t surprise me if in his childhood he had a lot of fur coats or blankets. It’s simultaneously trivial and meaningful.

So that brings us to his sister. And this highlights exactly how much he cares. Cuz he can’t bring himself to say her name. I think he’s said it once or twice, but he keeps distancing himself from her. He still loves her. Denying it and distancing himself from the person he knew is a coping mechanism to protect his painfully soft heart. Even though it’s a point of pride for him to be a godslayer, when it comes to the blight of faith, there is no honor, no glory. He still loves her, like any good brother.

That’s why Rumi’s hope, and his pleads for Thanatos to give the blights a chance, to give Thanatos himself a chance fall on deaf ears. He loves too much. And hope hurts.

It’s not that he’s too tough, or too cold to accept Rumi’s suggestions. It’s that the hope there could be a happy ending for him, or for anyone he loves would hurt him far too much.

The whole Pepsi commercial thing reminded me that people always mis-remember the famous flower in the gun barrel photo as being a young woman. It wasn’t. There is no shared white history. Europeans all hated each other from the first settlers up until the 1500s. No Italian has even fucking heard the word “Odin” until long after (”white”) christian missionaries nearly eradicated that religion. If  you and I are both white than our ancestors probably fucking hated each other. Hell, if you’re a white mutt like me, various roots of your own family tree fucking hated each other and considered each other foreign savage barbarians. The only thing that unifies the white race is skin color and privilege, and neither of those things fill me with any kind of pride.

The Navy spilled 14,000 gallons of fuel into the water on O’ahu. They said nothing for a whole week, and only admitted error when the residents on the military base started getting sick.

The spill contains petroleum, which is linked to a multitude of long term issues. Currently, residents are complaining of nausea, burning skin and headaches.

A well on the island is being shut off because it borrows from the military water supply. This well provides over 20% of the water on the island. Residents are being told to ration water, and no one is sure if the entire water supply is contaminated. We have no answers, no solutions, except wait for symptoms and pray you don’t fall ill.

Our system is broken.  It is cruel.  It is dehumanizing, degrading, and it’s vile nature is so, so unnecessary.

We need universal healthcare today in America.  We needed it 40 years ago.  It’s cheaper, it’s simpler, it’s more efficient, it’s more effective and it is so, so, so much less cruel than what we have.
