❤️😆 I always chuckle a little bit to myself when I work on these "cartoon Voyager" drawings, but this one actually made me laugh out loud, especially as I worked on Chakotay's sweet hula hoop hip move! 😂

I couldn’t decide which version to post, so why not share both? 😉 They’re very similar but the slight variation in the hand-touching conveys different emotions between them, which I like a lot!

It occurred to me that I never posted the initial B&W version(s) (one with Chakotay serious, one with him smiling), which have a completely different vibe 🖤 Hope you like them!
(Sidenote: if you're wondering why he's in civvies and she's in her dress uniform, it's because the sketch was originally inspired by a scene from my fic Louder Than Words 😉😋 One of my favorite first-kiss scenes to have ever come out of my head LOL 🥰)

Okay, so about six months ago I posted my first "Cartoon Voyager" for Resolutions. Since then I’ve had a lot of fun with these, learning and developing the style (and becoming more ambitious 🤪) as I went. So I couldn’t resist revisiting that very first strip and expanding on it, for no better reasons than 1) it makes my heart flutter to "paint" those oh-so-iconic JC scenes and 2) the idea of the Chakotay-loving-monkeys still cracks me up! 😆 I hope you enjoy both the revised scene and the new ones! ❤️

Chakotay thought Neelix had the perfect idea, but instead of doing the same he contented himself with sharing a proud yet flirty look with Captain Janeway. 😆🥰
😆 Hehe! Night is one of my all-time favorite episodes and I just love this scene! I love Chakotay's kindness to Neelix and I love Janeway's commanding and steady and badass attitude when she appears in full captain mode! My heart always leaps happily when she shows up! 😀 I always wished we'd seen Chakotay smile to himself (or to her) though, before he moved past camera, so this is where this little cartoon strip came from!

A quick note - obviously I took some artistic license with the animals here, including making Janeway's salamander cuter than the one they showed (oh, was this foreshadowing future events...? 🤔😬)! As for Chakotay's, we never did find out his, did we (we know it's not a bear 😉)? We saw a hawk/eagle in Tattoo, but I always thought it symbolized Chakotay's father or something more to that effect. So I decided to go with a marten for him for no other reason that they're cute, fierce and somehow seemed fitting (also it worked for this sketch 😉). I hope you'll forgive those small liberties!

I think JC would have not wanted to stay on New Earth for long, because one other person for the rest of their lives is too little, even if they love each other. I mean, would you want to live in isolation for the rest of your life with only one person to talk to? I think at the end of the episode they were sad about their romantic relationship end, but definitely happy to be back again with their friends and potentially see their family members again. I love Resolutions fanfics, but I always find unrealistic when authors describe a long happy life together just the 2 of them for 30+ years... Chances are, even if they love each other, they will be saturated with each other and bored even after just a year (what could they tell each other eventually, if all past stories are told and if all their present life happenings they both are always there?). What are your thoughts?
I don't think it is insulting to Prodigy/Kate/writers to ask for live-action Janeway on top of Prodigy. It is not "OR", but "AND". Kate Mulgrew herself said many times she wants live action Janeway and told the fans to let Paramount know if they want it too.
I love that Prodigy understands that Janeway has moments where she is absolutely reckless and makes batshit decisions because that is what (real) Janeway has always done. She hasn't grown out of this just because she's an admiral.
And I love that Admiral Jellicoe (Ronnie Cox) told her off for it, and she STILL is like 'let's sneak in.'
Prodigy writers absolutely understand Kathryn Janeway- far better than any other new Trek that has brought back legacy characters have.
