So, India is dying.

Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.

If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.

A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.

There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.

There is no plan.

Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.

Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.

We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.

This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.

We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.

People are dying.

People are dying.

People are dying and there is no plan.

More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.

My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.

Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.

But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.

She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.

So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.

These are just the last three fics I wrote. I appreciate the likes, believe me I do, but you have to understand. Likes do nothing for content creators. It’s the reblogs. Because that’s how you find shit on your dashboard. Through reblogs. Not likes. This isn’t twitter or tiktok or instagram. This is a website that’s run by the reblog system.

Reblogging helps content creators put their stuff out there. Why do you think so many people stopped writing fanfic and creating beautiful fanart and edits? It’s because they put in hours of work and don’t get nearly enough notes for their masterpieces. Yes we do this because we enjoy it but like...some validation won’t hurt. A boost of confidence here and there might be all someone needs to finish whatever thing they started and left.

Writing Tips for Writer’s Block - Making Your Writing Palace

So here is a collection of some pointers that I use when I get stuck while writing (which as some of you know happens literly all the time)— I hope it helps anyone else who is struggling! These work for me but they might not work for everyone! I urge you to try them out!

Make Your Writing Palace

settle your mind and create a space for your thoughts and ideas to flow

Make sure you are comfortable in your surroundings wherever that might be. I personally prefer to be tucked into my comfy armchair with a blanket!

Take a shower!! Might sound weird but if I feel dirty or oily or gross I can’t not write!!! Go take a shower, get clean!!

Get a snack and/or drink. Fuel for your brain!!! My favorite writing snack is tea with cookies, scones, biscotti, or any other pasty type of thing.

Write when you are alone! I can tell you that you will not accomplish much if your surrounded with family or friends. Distractions are your enemy!!!!!

Pick a time to write! I prefer writing early early morning or at late night (probably bc those are the time my world and family are silent and still sleeping).

If you are stuck on a specific scene try to imagine yourself there and as your character. Or even go to that place irl—idk if y’all got forests near you but if that’s where your scene takes place march your ass down there, find a nice tree to climb, and write. (Just don’t get wacked, I would be very sad to hear that my tip got you murdered lol)

Get background noise! I personally find songs with lyrics to be too distracting when I try to write. I use an app: Relax Meditation (it’s free). You can pick whatever sounds you want and lump them together and into like a song/mix. I usually play the sounds I need to try and immerse myself into the enviroment of my character. It really helps!!

Don’t keep stopping to change words or think “I’m being to repetitive in my language” —just keep going and fix it later. At the end of ur writing session go back and google some synonyms!!!

Put down some bullet points of what you wanna write—give yourself a mini outline to work with.

Do not write something that you don’t wanna write!!! (Unless it’s for school then you kinda gotta) if someone requested a mushy love scene between two characters that you just loath DONT DO IT!!! It will probably be shit bc your heart is just not in it.

Try changing up what your writing! If you are stuck on your fanfic/book/essay/whatever and just can’t look at it any longer, try writing a one shot or drabble of something completely different.

Take a break and pet a furrybaby (or a slimy one idk what kind of wacko pets y’all have)!!

I hope this helped for some of you guys! I love you all so much and don’t ever give up on writing!!

Letter to the developers of The Arcana Game

I’ve been playing the Arcana Game about 3 years now and always enjoyed it. It’s an amazing game with wonderful characters. The character who made me download and install this game back then was Dr. Julian Devorak. He’s just wonderful. He’s not only the self-sacrificing Doctor who enjoys pain. He’s attentive, quick-witted, intelligent and an amazing rascal. My absolute favourite scene with him is the one where mc pats him down for anything he might have stolen when he broke in the shop, and this was also one of the first scenes I unlocked in the game. And which you sadly completely deleted out of the prologue with this new update. I can’t describe how disappointed I was when I realised it.

You already changed the prologue once, but back then I understood it. At first it was a bit too long, yes. Yet I was sad when you dropped the part where mc had to remember Portia’s code to get past the guards. But well, I got used to it.

And now you made even more changes at the prologue. Ever since I read it yesterday, it bothered me how much this story changed, and this drives me now to write this letter to you.

These were not only a few minor changes to improve the story. This totally changes the story/stories as a whole. And to me, many of them don’t even make sense.

The Countess suddenly thinks something is wrong with the murder of the late Count from the start? Why so suddenly? What made her doubt everything her courtiers tell her?

Julian Devorak writes a letter to mc and tells them he can’t remember if he killed the Count. This basically leads Julian’s whole story into absurdity. Because why would he later, in his route, be convinced he killed him if he doubted it at first?

Mc having nightmares … this is a good idea. But it felt to me that it already gives too much information that hints to Count Lucio in advance. 

A little bit more of Muriel was nice, although I wonder if he would really open up to mc so fast, especially since he’s negative towards them at the beginning of his route.

Mc goes to the fountain while sleepwalking to speak to Asra? Making them rush in an instant down in the garden and they are not even remembering it? Sorry, but even in a fantasy story this is not believable to me. 

The cute meeting with the dogs is cancelled and replaced by a portrait, a magical statue of a goat in the castle that makes the mc suddenly appear on the balcony, the scene with Portia where they are jumping out of the window is gone (I’m crying …), it is already revealed that there are lots of secret passages leading through the whole castle … 

It’s sad to say, but the whole prologue feels so rushed that it is no fun anymore to read it.

I must confess I don’t recognise the story anymore after all these radical changes. What I can do is to completely ignore the prologue or to delete the game from my phone. 

I also wonder now if you intend to change the finished routes to fit to the new prologue what would make it for me even worse. I love the Arcana Game, and I love the routes of Asra, Julian and Nadia as they are now. 

I’m sure there are many fans of The Arcana Game who think like I do. Some will have a bit different opinions, some would like to keep things of the new update, but all in all I read yesterday that many people are upset, especially because some amazing scenes were completely cut out. 

Yes, the pictures in the updates are beautiful, and I love them. But truly, I would rather do without them if this could bring the previous version of the prologue back. 

You once asked us to help to save the Portia route, and the fans did everything to help. Now you are driving them away with a new update to a prologue that was already perfect for the story. 

I’m just .. disappointed.

The nature of the Veil

I never post meta because I prefer to write it out, but Wikipedia has some really great animations of the harmonic series.  I saw it and thought… what if this is how the Veil works?  What if the Veil is the dissonance that disrupts the consonant, harmonic nature between the real world and the Fade?

There are waveform animations over at Wiki, but this presents a few ideas to me regarding partial breaches of the Veil/thinning of the Veil.  I’m not going to go much farther than this conceptualization because I don’t think truly this is how magic works in Thedas, but when the Inquisitor says, “The Veil is more like a vibration,” this is what I think about.

I see some of you trying to justify cops tear-gassing children, running people over with their cars, shooting people in the head with rubber bullets at close range, pulling people's masks down and macing them, literally throwing women down, slashing people's tires and shattering their windshields as they're in their own vehicle, beating and killing elderly protesters, etc... They're doing it to these people, who are protesting the systematic racism and police brutality and demanding justice for George Floyd.... And I want you to know that if you think cops are right for doing this, ANY of this, then block me. If it bothers you that people are rioting and damaging stores ownes by giant corporations more than it does that cops are doing what they are to these protesters and are freely murdering black and brown people, block me. If you think it's right for the President to refer to white people loaded with guns bitching about haircuts as "good people" and black and brown protesters as "thugs" and allow the law enforcement/national guard to open fire on them, block me.

I will have no fucking bootlickers and racists on my fucking blog.

there is a lot of misinformation, misleading footage, DELIBERATE infiltration, and scams online during these protests. please please PLEASE be extremely careful before you reblog or retweet. i work in the news (but i also think all cops are bastards), if you have a question, feel free to ask. there are even white supremacist 4chan civil war 2 baiting people. be VERY VERY careful. be careful of the bullshit tropes police departments and city mayors will feed and local news will regurgitate. be careful of screenshots of random stan twitter accounts claiming things to scare people. be careful of random accounts of organizations you don’t know.

here’s a few things to look out for

1) right now, a common signal to the white supremacist crowd is the boogaloo meme. aka the “break 2: electric boogaloo” meme is code for “civil war 2: electric boogaloo”. they use iconography of words that SOUND like boogaloo (”big luau” and “igloo”) to signal to each other, EVEN when they look like they’re supporting BLM. if you see hawaiian print or an igloo, it’s a nazi.

2) twitter accounts or screenshots of twitter accounts that claim to be “updates” or “breaking news” from sources you’ve never heard of. i work in mainstream media, but i also don’t trust it, so i get not trusting it. however accounts like these are common sockpuppets for russian bots, law enforcement infiltration, and more. sometimes, they don’t even try too hard to cover their tracks. they often embed real news videos for retweets and follows, the accounts aren’t very old, and they have weird, or keyword-laden names to end up in searches like BLM PROTESTS JUSTICE NOW NEWS.

3) mainstream news, especially TV news and local news stations, love to just regurgitate a police press release or press conference about a case, or the mayor’s speech or press conference, as fact. they may report more in depth later, but the first point of contact is always deference to the police. they are then copied and syndicated by other news outlets, so the mistakes are multiplied. take everything they say with a grain of salt, knowing it came straight out of the police commissioner’s mouth.

4) if you couldn’t attend a protest, or want to help further, many local organizations suddenly thrust into the spotlight get flooded with support and often recommend other organizations. wait about 24 hours. research before you donate. support locally. you want to make sure things are both legit and that they are also still accepting or needing assistance (information changes quickly).
